All fans start up with the power up and the back fan is the right way round, blowing air in over the card
the reboot switch, the pi and the laptop all have the same impact - a boot up for a couple of seconds and then a power down, off for a few seconds and then a power cycle back up again....repeat non stop.

So I assume that rules out the pi and the usb cable/fittings as it happens with no usb attached at all when using the manual reboot/on button on the card.

cgminer sees the device but errors out, tries to hot reboot but fails.

4 of my 12 BJ's had air blowing IN the radiator. The rest blowing out.

HF is certainly good at blowing hot air.

does your fan at the back also blow air INTO the case or is this fan installed the wrong way round?

Well the good news is my Batch 1 BJ arrived in the uk - 48 hours door to door.
Looked in good condition, no obvious wires or screw loose - although there are only 3 screws holding down the water cooling to the chip.

I have booted up with both the Rpi with a wired ethernet and also a laptop running 3.12 cgminer.

Either way, the BJ comes to life for about 2 secs, then switches off, then repeats this forever but the BJ does not get recognised by the Pi ot the laptop.
The reboot in the BJ card causes a reboot but it still switches off after a few seconds.

Has anyone got any ideas of where to look for issues?

Thanks

Rebooted my RPi today and it upgraded minepeon to:

Code:
MinePeon Version: 0.2.4.3hf4
Miner Version: cgminer3.11.0hf1

Lets see if that fixes some of the stablility issues I've had over the past week. Happy to see HF frequently updating the software though! And of course kudos to ckolivas for doing most of the hard work Smiley

Btw, this update seems to break the 'monitor' tab for me in minepeon...

It's not HF doing the updates.  It's Neil from Minepeon and ckolivas.

Got my unit. They said shipping January 28th and it did. Arrived the next morning (this morning).

I'm bummed they don't have it clocked higher. The fans are not that great on the unit I think. I might try different fans and see if that helps. I'm not sure I like the intake from front and back and trying to exhaust out the top. I wonder if the CFM is balanced too.

My unit shipped on January 28th and arrived yesterday, too. I wasn't really set up to work with a Raspberry Pi, but I dug out an old monitor, a wireless keyboard/mouse, and an unpowered hub.

The minepeon directions say it won't work with WiFi on the first attempt. Ha! I ran to Staples and got an ASUS USB-N53, and it worked, no problems.

Out of the box, minepeon was running cgminer 3.9 and was clocking about 420 GH/s. Early this morning, the Raspberry Pi went offline. Everything seems like it needs to be shut down for about five minutes before the RPi will reboot with the HashFast logo and not display endless USB errors. It turns out, minepeon upgraded to cgminer 3.11, and the RPi didn't reboot nicely (this one never does).

Now, cgminer is clocking 390 GH/s. I'm not impressed.

ok so with the new version of cgminer that problem should be resolved. hm..now it is mining for half an hour with an avg of 420 at eligius...
does anybody already received their upgrade kit, is it easy to install?

i received my baby jet today. I'm really confused about cgminer (3.11.0hf1). It reports avg. mining speed of 790 Gh/s, eligious reports 440 (without overclocking). Does anybody have the same issues?

That is pretty awesome.  I am getting 390GH/s with stock setting at eligius.  Is it stable at that speed for the 3 hour report?

cgminer 3.11 seemed like was doubling my score as well when I was running a single machine.  However, once I got my additional BJ1, I put cgminer 3.12 on a linux box to drive them, and it seems to be reflecting reality (it is reporting just a little bit higher than reported at eligius).

So cgminer disables the device because of libusb error, assigns a new number, but sometimes it gets stuck with this:

HFB 0: max 14C 0.58V | ZOMBIE/ 0.000h/s

and once that happens, it does not disable/re-add the device until I restart cgminer

I am seeing the similar USB issues (though not as bad to not be able to recover) especially when restarting cgminer. I am at bone stock settings running 3.12.0 off a ubuntu machine.  I checked the basement to see if I could re-arrange the external fans I have setup and saw that the wife had closed the basement door, and it was getting quite warm down there.

Once I opened up the door again, it seems to be working pretty solid.
Check your ambient temperature and try to keep it cool if possible.
They say it is safe up to 85C (according to ckolivas), but I think the best bet it try to keep them under 80C.

Got my unit. They said shipping January 28th and it did. Arrived the next morning (this morning).

Got it hashing away within 20 minutes of being on the Fed ex truck and that delay was because I dropped the sd card and couldn't find it for a bit. Doh. Mine peon is really quite nice on the raspberry pi. Dhcp and it made its own address to mine to on Eligius.

It's been going at 74C and 420GH throughout today. It's around 71F in the house these days, for comparison.

and again a miner that fails on p2pool Sad 20% rejected shares
anybody tried with cgminer 3.11 is this getting better performance?
I'm not seeing anything like these reject levels. Only when I first start p2pool and first connect the device. After a while diff rises, p2pool stops chewing up CPU and then it all calms down to very normal reject and DOA rates and good efficiency.

after 5 hours I still got >20% rejected shares on p2pool.
running cgminer 3.9 from the minepeon on rpi shipped with the bj

will give 3.12 or newer a shot on a linux host PC

I can confirm that as of 4:30 PM PST minepeon gitpull gives cgminer 3.10

I can confirm that my windows version of cgminer 3.12 from the binary download from ckolivas' website is working with 6 baby jets all plugged into a 10-port usb hub which in turn plugs into an acer aspire one laptop running windows 7.  The startup of cgminer has a LOT of warnings and errors as each device gets detected and spun up, but after about 10-20 minutes it settles in and all the devices are humming along just fine.  Getting about 2.2 terahash off of one cgminer worker according to btcguild.

Purely based on short term observation, but I think that the BubbaJet ... that's what we call them in Texas ... hashes best at around 70c.  I've had mine colder for extended periods and haven't seen any improvement. In fact, it seems a little slower. YMMV.

Opinions?

Just posted a new version of cgminer, 3.12.0 which hopefully copes better with transient USB errors on these.

This definitely seems to have helped some issues I was having that made me need to physically disconnect the USB cable and re-hotplug with almost every little upset (e.g. wifi network reboot).

Con is there a way to show the temps of the individual dies without turning on debug?
Check API output. Plenty of info there.

In these its just shows 0 for temp. Looked through other api commands, not sure where temp is. Will keep looking.
