I don't like it when someone calls me something mean but I believe in their right to do so. I believe it is their free speech. I am not going to boycott his business or anything of that sort.
Of course, it is wrong, when someone makes racist statements, but what they are, are just words.
If you ask me, if anything should be banned, it is the thuggery of businesses interfering in domestic issues. There should be a separation of business and state.
Even pornography and video games are protected as free-speech.
Hate is one of the emotions of human beings like love.
Repressing it through legislative actions are just trying to repress one of the basic human emotions.
Words don't physically hurt people.
I tend to believe that hate speech is a part of free speech.
Now, the definition of hate speech is very broad, after a few years, it might be offensive to even say "He' or "She"
"
Sounds to me like you are burning out from political correctness and not hate speech freedom.
Words are words like you state in a following post but they become something else once acted on. The step in between is very quick and when you are dealing with a uneducated or less than full brain, you will easily manipulate with the energy you bring to the discussion. Might have misheard it today on the news but Trump thanked dumb people for helping him win.
Since most people are unable to act in a civil way we need guidelines like this to protect us from group thinking that may cause a unpleasant side effect.
A classic example is what is going on in the Middle East as we type away. We have a hijacked religion that is spouting hatred for everything that is not in the Koran. Problem being that when you look at the highest area in the world for illiteracy its right there. Iran being a exception to the rules but for the most part reading is not like other areas. So we have people following a book they can not read and killing anything in opposition.
Manipulation of uneducated people is through words, not through the pen. Pen is the next step on the pyramid..
So I do disagree with this angle and I have found it to be one used by white power movements a lot on the net. Its really a tactic to confuse and murk the waters.
I am not an American. You either believe in free speech or you don't.
This is what Trump said actually
and it was in context of describing how diverse his base is.
"We won the Evangelicals," Trump said. "We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated," he continued, "I love the poorly educated! They are the smartest people, the most loyal people."
The media was ridiculing Trump supporters as only less educated and he was defending the people and siding with you people and implying that people from various background vote for him and not less the so-called 'uneducated'
Now, they have taken it out of context again when they are the ones who started calling the people 'uneducated'
