the time or context in which the person lives most of the time ends up dictating the person's choice and what the person should do Is accept that choice and move on, for example in your case, you need to accept that you are on this path and with that do the best and become happy, life tends to play many tricks on us, today you may even hate it or not feel good about this choice, but tomorrow you will be in some company where they are happy in the same profession you studied and you will not remember that you once had doubts about that choice

In life, deciding what you want can be the biggest challenge. There are so many ways to enjoy life the simple decisions you make can lead to vastly different lifestyles and outcomes. What one person may hate might be another person’s dream. Spend some time thinking about what you want and out your energy towards it.
Exactly,I notice that most atimes we don't spend times to look at and think about what we really want to be,we spend times on some other things that won't necessarily help our life in anyway.

Taking a critical look, visualising, imagining, and forshaowing how your future will look like, and spending more time to shapen and investing in your future is the most ideal thing for a man.

Decision-making skills can be hard for anyone to exercise when you are dependent on your parents and dependent on the wealth of your parents.
When we were kids we were asked by our teachers what we wanted to be when we grow up, I answered I wanted to become a doctor. I still wanted to when I was in high school but at that time my parents already broke up.  My mind can't adjust to the given situation and am just undecided on what to do. Learning to clear your mind and forsee what you wanted to be can be difficult when there is no light inside the tunnel.

I end up working for someone. Glad that I survived. This is why I trained my kids to decide even just in buying in a fast-food restaurant. I let him pick his choice of food and ask why he picked it.

Most of the people tends to be confused at those times at such young age. Some fall from that category and some don't since they already decided what they want to be. In your case, it is not too late for you to bloom the way you want it to be. Find an inspiration. Why don't you find something that you love to do or something that'll interests you, there are lots of things that you are about to discover.

Explore you're capabilities and learn more about yourself and maybe you'll discover something more of it. Take a break and think about it, take a list what you want to do. Try leading a new path and do new things maybe you'll find interest in them. If ever you've failed, try again don't give up keep on moving on and from then on maybe you'll find what's for you.

Finding a reason can also help you. like for example, Why you choose this field?, do you enjoy doing it?, does it satisfy your standards and needs?, does it make you happy ?. The most important thing is that you enjoy what you're doing. Just take it slow.

"Have you decided what you want to be?"

A decent, content person; harder than I thought Grin
Haha, good one. However, the matter I'm describing is quite serious, and the same feeling/situation is affecting an immense amount of youngsters/students, who haven't been shown the way to find what they like. Honestly, if I could turn back in time, I would look deep in myself to find the answers. Now, I'm pretty much clueless on how to proceed.

Yeah I got that :-)-----*my only answer looks glib

There are aptitude tests people can take to help figure out what type of career would best suit them but in all seriousness...
Too many people will have an opinion on what you should do or should want to be.

I have found that I've been good at many jobs that I didn't like doing and didn't make enough to earn a ("good enough") living doing some of my favorite jobs.

I thought I wanted to be a Social Worker or counselor at 18----actually not good choices for me. I wish I had known you could make money in the field of Social Psychology.

First responders come upon some serious situations---lots of mental toughness.
The reality is that you may have to just work to make a living while you figure it out.

P.S.
Congratulations on your degree!

I do believe most people all over the have yet to figure this out as well. It changes with the different curveballs life throws at you.  Grin

I'm pretty intrigued to become a first responder paramedic, but I still haven't made up my mind. Did you go through this process yourselves? How did you deal with it, how is someone supposed to find what he likes at 18 years old, is that educational practice even appropriate?

Many factors actually. such as passion and hobby. or because of the level of education in a certain major. because of the fact that there are now job opportunities are seen from a graduate that hinders someone's dreams if it doesn't match the major they take, just like me took economics education but my current job is more on web developing, which is very different from my college major. i want be lawyer but take economic major and ended up in web developer job . all different. life doesn't always run smoothly.

I don't know bud, but base on experience about 3 years ago, I found nothing when I look for answers deep inside myself. I actually isolate myself like for weeks to see what I can dig about what I want, but nothing goes, and it's just what I think I need, and what course would earn higher pay.
You may say that I didn't look deep enough, but at that age, that's the deepest I can think off.

Yes, it's high time I do that, the past haven't been what we totally envisaged from childhood, dreams have been breached, from Family matters, peer group, and our personal lifestyle.
Despite all of this, been optimistic, open minded, focusing on the bigger picture, than the recent trials, I'll keep exploring, make waves, by focusing on our dreams and gradually with consistency and working smart, one will finally attain what i initially had in mind.

At a young age, we can have something that we want to achieve but unfortunately, not all we want can be reached as many things will change when we grow up. At one point, I forget what year, I decided to just flow where my life wants to guide me and only enjoy every moment that I passing by. I think at that time, sometimes I feel jealous to see many of my friends can live happily but then I realize that I only look from the outside and not trying to know more about them.

Well, until I get into the crypto world, slowly it change. My life changed but not drastically, but I feel the change. And now, I still passing every day of my life with trying to do a good thing for me and my family and other people around me.

I think that of all things an individual could want or choose to aspire to become, being happy is the best option. Whether that happiness comes from your career, family, hobbies, whatever… Just choose to be happy and enjoy the ride while you still have time on this spinning rock. You never know when you’ll hit that black screen on this game.
I agree, just follow the path that will make you happy and satisfied. When I was a kid im looking up to my teacher and want to become like her, an educator, and that inspires me. But as time passes and im getting older, that changed what I really want to be. I became a businesswoman because thats my passion and I love what I do.

In choosing the career you want to take always consider what makes you happy and you're fond to do with regardless what job it is.

When I finished my high school and so soon I had to say what to study. I studied to be an Accounting technician because my parents could only pay me for that degree and they advised me to study because that would be the inheritance that my parents could give me, education.
Today I thank you very much with all my heart because it is the most valuable thing I have and it is a good tool for me and for my relatives because I share it with them.

I could advise you to study your career by vocation, which is what you enjoy the most and if it is in terms of health, it must definitely be by vocation.

That's likely the crucial age that will determine your future and mid-adult career. I've got college friends that shifted from medical to another because it is not what they want and they're still looking for what they like. With my decision, I chose to be a free with taking decisions and before doing some tough ones like shifting, I'll keep trying to like what I've started until I don't like it anymore then I'll leave. But somehow it worked for me of trying to liked it before shifting.

most schools actually do a test which reveals what your interests are and what type of learner/worker you are to come to an idea of a career that will suit you, even if this idea is a pivot away from dreams

people learn differently some learn by reading. some by hearing. some by visualising
how they work. some do great at 'book work' writing essays. some are more creative and do better with physical tasks.

EG a highly intelligent book work person that enjoys science. becomes a researcher. diagnostician
EG a highly intelligent physical work person that enjoys science. becomes a doctor. lab technician

EG an average intelligent book work person that enjoys science. becomes a teacher. chemical rep
EG an average intelligent physical work person that enjoys science. becomes a paramedic. firework manufacturer

yes people can have a dream. but knowing your limits and your style and preference of learning/work can affect your chances and ability to achieve the dream. so having a bit of insight at school of they way you are and how you learn and work and your intellect level can and does help base choices that atleast come close to the dream even if you cant fully accomplish your dream due to your limitations

so ask yourself
are you a thinker(problem solver, learner) or a worker
do you like attention ans speaking or do you like to keep head down and just get on with work
do you like the rush/pressure to motivate you. or do you prefer the easy tasks

ask yourself questions about who you are and what makes you thrive/excel/happy. and then think of roles that match

I'm doing a course I love and always loved, and to be honest, you are right, 18-19 year olds are given a choice that will really affect their whole life and they aren't mature enough to choose what's right for them, I guess the education system needs a radical change. When I was 18, thankfully I had the right guidance to choose something I love more than something which can give me much money and am really satisfied with it today Smiley along with my main aim, I have got many other smaller aims to fulfill as well Smiley
What kind of course are you following, if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking of choosing a few online courses from Edx.org, they have some interesting ones.

If I could choose everything in life again, I would go straight to university with 18. Instead of working some time it is better to go straight into university, get a good degree and earn more money afterwards. Also I would choose computer science as my major. The more I could learn about blockchain and crypto currencies the earlier I could start to go into crypto trading. There some trading mistakes that I did in the past which I would like to avoid and safe that money.
I'm not sure what I would do, provided that this was ever possible. I'm pretty certain that I wouldn't have chosen this sector or if I had, I'd spent more time thinking through it. Likewise, I wish I had sat my ass down and figured it out sooner. Now, I'm pretty clueless of what I'm going to do in the future.
