I think everyone has felt loss of Bitcoin assets, especially when becoming a beginner entering the world of Crypto. I personally have also experienced loss my BTC but because I was cheated by my own friend. I trusted him to open my Bittrex account, then I'm sure he successed to log in but he told me that the password could no longer be used. He lied to me.

I haven't been stolen before, and i hope that no one can steal my BTC in the future, but i already lost some bitcoin on gambling but that was a few bucks not a lot of money. I'm always careful when it comes to bitcoin, i'm saving a part of my crypto in hardware wallets as well as in some web wallets like blockchain.

Sure i have lost bitcoins in terms of price drop or gambling.
I have been here and there where i have even faced pronzi schemes when i first started and that's how i know more about them for instance.

Lost some from gambling and investing poorly not knowing what i was heading into.
The time made me learn more from experience and kept me motivated to learn from my mistakes.

When i want to save my profits i use online secure wallets or immediatly exchange them to fiat when i dont want for a price differentiability or when i see something will make it drop.

Recently I've heard someone's speech about keeping BTC on the exchange is not safe. But the same thing may be fair to other types of wallets — it's all about the pros and cons, isn't it?
There must be a comparison based on the number of incidents, statistics, etc.
I mean, ok, let's consider this article as a detailed guide for different types of wallets — there's an explanation, principles of working, advantages and disadvantages — but how do you actually know, which wallet will be safe? How did you choose your current wallet?

Where do you keep crypto? Have you ever been stolen?

I didn't lose my Bitcoin with my friends are and no one stole my Bitcoin ever since I started but last year I have lost around 0.01 BTC as I forgot the private key and wallet phrase.
I hope so many people came across this situation by losing their details to access the wallet.

I have never faced such a problem, thanks God or thanks to my diligence. But I know personally people, their wallets were attacked. And they lost a lot... even they followed the rules of using their wallets, did not kept any information about keys or something like that on the computers. After that they changed the rules of using wallets of crypto in the most fundamental way. Cold wallets, even separate gadgets only for work...and so on... Everyone should remember that your security and security of your assets in your arms only. Everyone should remember that it is better not to be too self-confident.

Evidently, everyone gotta take care of his own important private data himself not to be hacked and stolen. Pay attention that neither software developers nor administrators and maintainers of public online software services gotta worry about your data because they otta just develop software, administer and maintain systems and services. It means if you wanna keep your data in secret you should take care of it yourself.
Well, to intensify security I have dedicated an old laptop with installed OS Linux for more security just only for keeping important secret data (such as keys and so on). Furthermore I gonna intensify security in the nearest future by encrypting the most important data. I am sure that intense cryptographic algorithms complicate any potential steals of my data although I would like notice that I am not an expert in data security so my comprehension of this field may be not completely right I understand and admit it but anyway I endeavor to protect my data.

of course store it in a safe place and not connected to the internet, if I lost I have experienced it but only a few in one of the markets and their sites were hacked so I was forced to lose my money there, although not much so I didn't ask for compensation because I know it's rather difficult for them to pay for other users' funds

Stolen and lost, so far i am still not experience it. I save my bitcoin in local exchanges and set 2fa in it. And for tokens, i save my tokens in Myetherwallet until now and make sure private keys not reveal to anywhere. I think people's suggestion will almost same, set 2fa, and anything else to secure our account. For me, i just hope exchange that i used to save my bitcoin not get attacked by hackers.

to save my bitcoin, I use blockchain.com wallet how to choose a safe wallet. I made a review here, at bitcointalk.org, because in my opinion this is a good place to look for information about safe crypto wallets. Well saving on an exchange is not safe. because hackers can steal it, especially centralized exchange. I personally have never stolen my BTC. but my friend experienced it several times. it's just a personal mistake. my friend did not check the used wallet website. and it turns out my friend opened the phishing web.

Before I write my comment it would be better if the title is "Have your BTC ever been Lost or stolen?"

alright, in terms of funds getting lost or stolen, there are many ways that we could consider why it happens. But personally, I couls consider my BTC funds lost or stolen way back before when I accidentally forgot my password in my account which contains a small amoubt of BTC i got from bounty. Though, for me, this will help bitcoin increase its market price since it will be forever lost, I still regret not writing and keeping my account.

So, I've decided to buy a ledger nano s to keep my funds safe. In addition I've written down the information and decided not to upload it on any cloud storage.

I have never lost the amount of BTC because of the experience of some of the people written in the thread, I really have to thank those who provided a lot of information. if there are people who are still experiencing it, they should improve security measures in managing data

I never experience the same thing too. reading is our best defense to those kind of situation because we prefer security that earning a lot. many newbies has those bad experience because they are in hurry to become rich and did not looking at what bad things happen. we cannot blame them for what their doings because they want that thing to experience. so for now they learn and to those wise learn from mistake of others will avoid this losses in future. have knowledge is the best thing to do first.

I'm thankful I've never experienced theft. I myself use the MyEtherWallet wallet and I always save my email, address and password and I also add my wallet with 2fa and also be careful when using it. Don't easily click links that you don't know about. and in my opinion if you have a fairly large amount of bitcoin it's better to keep it in a hardware wallet I think it will be safer.
maybe its good that next time read carefully the title and the OP before putting any post because sometimes it is annoying mate,it is clear that OP is asking about BTC and why MEW comes to the scene?funny right?

poeple will said that wallet is the best place to store your coin. but in a fact, a lot of people store their coin or token on some exchange. it can be not secure, if they hack that exchanger, but when we thinking about it, exchanger also give security.
because people generally ar hardheaded and don't give a damn in any advises until they become a Victim, just after incident then they will realize the mistake they made but its too late already .
