Hey guys, so i would like to start mining ethereum. Actually i did, but i cant find how to setup my miners better.
I was mining x11 before and it was all in the conf file, so my question is - how do you do the fine tuning in the ethereum miner?

I am talking about windows  and my cards are 280x and 7950

There is no fine tuning of the ethereum miner. The memory frequency is most important for Ether mining. So make it as high as possible.

How much hashes I should expect with a GTX 970 4G ?
What is the best miner for mining ethreum with gpu in windows ?

970-17Mhs
960-10Mhs

Dear folks, I have problems mining ether. I have 3x 280x, 2, 1 Windforce XFX. After a while mining the PC freezes. The temperature of the GPU is up to 80 degrees Celsius, but I do not know how to decrease these temperatures. I made them clean the GPU, I changed my windows 8.1 to 10, update the SDK and driver catalist.

Can you help me? Thank you.

What about the power consumption when mining ethereum? Any info?

Not sure what you mean by this , the power consumption depends on  the card not on the Algo you are mining.  X11 gives you a higer Hash rate than scrypt on the ALgo basis but youre
still pushing the card to its limits so power consumption does not change.

a 280x pulls around 240 at the wall

this is incorrect, the power consumption depends on the Algo, the same card can pull for example 270w on scrypt or less than 200w with other algos. you can find a lot of tests on bitcointalk, like this one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7916782

Thats because the Algos are not fully optimized for the cards, it depends on how hard you are taxing the cards, if an algo only taxes the GPU's by 30% it will or course use less power but all that means is you are not using the full potential of the card.

An algo can use only the 30% of the gpu power because of the memory bottleneck, in this case you can do nothing and you are using the full potential of the card  Smiley

That is right. Also for SHA256, it uses little memory bandwidth so you can reduce the memory speed.

Hi all, I have a 7x R9280X GPU rig and im only getting 80 MH/s total whereas I've read that people are squeezing 24MH/s per card.
I have tried playing with configs but nothing seems to work out. However I noted that if mine with only 1 GPU I get around 24MH/s, the problem comes when I try to mine with the 7 cards. What am I doing wrong? Do you think it could be a driver problem?

Yes of course its a driver problem , you didn't even specify Windows or Lunix how do you expect help  lol ?

Im running windows 8.1 with Amd 13.12 drivers. Sorry for the lack of details

I dont know much about Windows , I run six rigs of 4+ R9280x gpus on Ubuntu 15.4 and have never seen any one hash lower than 25 mh/s

Cant help you with windows sorry
Thanks for your willingness to help, problem is solved, just switched to 15.2 drivers and did the trick : )

Yes -t X
X: number of GPU used for mining

I use -t x in my config but still getting approximately 16MH/s per card Sad

Maybe you need to run separate instances of ethminer.
Like this:
ethminer -G --opencl-device 0
ethminer -G --opencl-device 1
ethminer -G --opencl-device 2

But i'm not sure, hope it helps, in any case, try to find more info on google.

Do you mean in the same .bat file? This is my current setup: ethminer -t 7 -F http://eth1.nanopool.org:8888/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -G

Unless graphic card is at least 2 gigabytes , is do not start.
Ram GPU  is used least 1,090 megabytes
And also need to be 64bit operating with at least 4GB of RAM.

I haven't been able to put my GPUs to work ( 6950\7850)
What's the guide that you have followed to put them to work? can you post the link?

ethminer -G -t 7

And each graphic must have the output DVI adapter Dummy.
Without it remains off
