People are insane if they give their identification to get some random airdrops, it's not worth the risk so stop giving away your important data. I can understand if an ico need a kyc for their investor because it's to follow the regulation but airdrop is a worthless project with close to no aim and they don't need kyc at all.

There is no doubt that the KYC test is alarming. But I do not understand one thing, why people are so outraged if you can just not be there. You are given free coins like Polymath and you can get $ 250. This is just your choice, go participate in the airdrop where there is no this check.

In general, I think that the KYC process is not a transparent and illegal process, which collects personal data of people. Where they will be kept and who will be used, God only knows. Be careful.

We have listened to the feedback and removed the requirement for KYC on the airdrop. We initially were not going to have KYC and then decided to as a way of preventing fake signups, but we have found a better solution. Thanks for the feedback, I support personal privacy and the ability to transact in a permissionless fashion, it was a mistake to require KYC for the airdrop when we could use a different approach to reduce fraud and protect participants.

Yeah be very wary about giving personal info...its not worth the risk to have your personal data stolen in exchange for a few coins.

I feel like this is a growing problem and people need to be more careful but also don't get greedy with the airdrops because most of them are now scams.

Do it need KYC data for airdrops now?
This sounds crazy. Most of the airdrop is now a scam. Does the airdrop need KYC data just to defraud KYC data?

We should always be careful about this. Because if our data obtained by others and in use of people who are not responsible will be dangerous for those who have identity in the data.

We don't know but it was stated there on their airdrop form that they will use KYC/AML checks to know fraud attempts or fake users. Why this new airdrops provide KYC our privacy now is not safe. We should avoid to give KYC for that intention I am not saying that they are scammers but we must be aware that possible things may happen easily in the cyber world.

i also disagree about KYC. I got an email after joined their airdrop, this is what i got:

Quote
When will I get my Airdrop tokens?

In the next few weeks, you will receive an email from us directing you to complete a KYC/AML check, which is an identity verification measure to prevent money laundering. This is compulsory to receive your airdrop tokens. You'll receive your tokens in the week after the token sale, which occurs from February 28 to March 6, 2018.

So, i think this is not an airdrop, this is trade your privacy with shit tokens. Period!

Just a FYI I would be very careful sending in your passports to the HAVVEN airdrop.

You have been warned.

(This goes for all projects - Never give them your personal papers)

Interesting, but do you have any proof about your statement? I am joined their airdrop last day. I know they need KYC like Polymath airdrop did. Havven got a lot of telegram users within 3 hours because of thier airdrop event.

But if your statement is true, so this is embarrassing.

Hi everyone,
there's a reply to the concerns around KYC in the ANN thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annico-havven-decentralised-and-asset-backed-stablecoin-2702470

Lending your identity for change money is never worth.
Only if you are genuinely interested in an ICO which do have a standardized procedure of validating your identity with KYC and over a contract that the details will not/never be shared outside the scope of project are worth.
Most of the exchanges and good ICOs require KYC, the reason being regulations being put up by national governments.

i also joined another bounty that requesting my passport as KYC Verification,
But if they ask your passport and the end of ICO, i don't think it's a big problem or scam.

The only ICO stage that I find acceptable for sending KYC is the end of ICO.
KYC definitly shouldn't be requested at ICO pre-sale or airdrop!

I really wonder how many people on bitcointalk have been a victim of identity theft thus far.

Why would an airdrop will require your ID?sounds like scam oh no! Grin im pretty sure any airdrop that has KYC process is a joke,ICOs will only require KYC so they can protect themselves to multi registrants abusive investors,if you dont want to lose your privacy do not participate any ICOs that needs KYC verification because if the data has leaked your IDs might be used to identity thefts.
