Hello! I've been speaking to my friend about bitcoin and I got really interested so he told me to come here. I've been told that you can recommend me the best setup to start with bitcoin like wallet, websites to earn some bitcoins and such. I've read the pinned threads but is there maybe something else for me to know before I start? Thanks.

Yes of course there is very important things about Bitcoin is having knowledge about Bitcoin environment. It took me 4 years to understand what is bitcoin and 2 years to test practically such a amazing environment to make faith and belief both.

But in the mean period I learnt a lot more things about Bitcoin and blockchain Technology which are really innovative, and have potential to change world.

I hope you joined this forum to learn more about this great technology and not just to earn some extra money. You will find that the benefits of using this technology and the knowledge that you gain here will out weigh the little bit of money that you might receive from signature campaigns on this forum.

These benefits will come in the form of discounts when you buy goods from certain merchants < Purse.io > and also lower fees, when you make Bitcoin transactions. < These transaction fees are much lower than your usual bank fees >

In any way, welcome to the forum and all the opportunities that this technology might offer you. ^smile^

It's better explanation with welcome note on it. However he see the videos first about bitcoin to learn easily. I would op to try "rise and rise of bitcoins" So check it and start learning the world's best stock.

I recommend mycelium as your btc wallet, but earning btc i only can recommend you signature campaign, gambling and trading. You can ask google for some other ways to earn btc.

Why mycelium? I've created a wallet on the first service I've stumbled upon and that being blockchain.info one and I don't see that many people recommending that one, and I've never had any problems with that one since. Why's that? I mean what makes one wallet better than the other? is it just a security question or...?

Blockchain.info is not a bad choice. It is convenient to be able to access a wallet from any device. The main problem is that you must access your wallet through a browser. Browsers have an increased risk of being hacked, especially through phishing and keylogging.

And do not forget to suggest this thread.
It helped me like hell when I started to deal with Bitcoin.

The easiest, most effective, and most convenient way to obtain bitcoins is to buy them. Try this site: https://bitcoin.org/en/getting-started

You could also earn bitcoins by doing faucets, that is basically pure profit if you have alot of spare time, but is pretty much useless if you are not from a third world country.
So the profit is relative based on how much your time is worth.

To OP;
Something that you should know is that patience is key. Don't get nervous if the bitcoin prices will go down, because they'll always go up again, and then you'll be the winner, instead of the losers who thought to dump smartly.. Bitcoin is designed to survive!

Hi and welcome.  Smiley

Three things that I have learned are:

Buy bitcoin at market price from a major exchange in your country.
There is no special deal or way to double your money. Don't use paypal, or skype with a guy who has a good deal. Almost 100% of these offers are scams.  Just fund an exchange account then buy anonymously through an exchange like a pro. Be sure to record how much you spent as you may face taxes at some point.
Sorry.  Sad

Always keep your private key under your exclusive control.
After you buy some BTC move it to a wallet (private key) under your control. Don't leave it online. If you like the convenience of online wallets then keep a minimal balance and store greater amounts off-line. In any case ALWAYS back up your wallet and store several copies off-line on various media. If you lose your wallet then no one on Earth can help you recover your money, no one.

Get the highest value on your coins by spending them.
It always baffles me how many people give up money to turn bitcoin back into local currencies. Why do that when you could spend it? You will save the fees/risks of selling your coins and many retailers offer a discount for using bitcoin. Once you have BTC you have money that works anywhere in the world. You can directly trade with millions of users using better money. That's why we buy it in the first place!

Best way is to learn things about it yourself and not to listen to what others say. Just take their advice with a some discretion. Because if you don't then you will just be a puppet with no brain of your own.
Learn things yourself and make your own decisions on things and how to use them for your own use.
