In case you wonder how so called "legit gift cards with receipt" can be obtained here is an example cut & paste from a NY Newspaper.  Of course I am NOT saying this is how the OP obtains them because I have no idea about him but "if it smells like fish, it's fishy."  These type of credit cards are readily available on the web .......


"A Brooklyn woman was charged Tuesday with using a fraudulent stolen credit card to purchase gift cards at Home Depot in DeWitt, according to DeWitt Police Chief James Hildmann.
Lleya Adams, 20, of 1392 Sterling Place, Brooklyn; is charged with purchasing $5,000 worth of gift cards from the Home Depot retail store on Bridge Street in DeWitt using a credit card with a stolen account number on it, DeWitt police said. The credit card Adams used had her name embossed on it, but police said the account number had been stolen from a woman in Texas who didn't know her account had been compromised. Adams was charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree grand larceny in connection with the incident, police said. Both are felonies. She was arraigned in the DeWitt court and held at the Justice Center on $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond. "

I'm interested if we can just use a middleman so scamming is (nearly) impossible

I find it funny that when thieves and scammers get scammed they get so angry and yell SCAM!  If I had just got screwed out of $1000 in gift cards that I supposedly paid for I'd be out of here pretty quick and not keep on selling.  Also, why would I go to a store, pay $500 for a card and then sell it for $350 when I could sell it on "real" gift card exchange websites for much more? I guess if it smells like fish it stinks.
