GSM phones are better than CDMA/TDMA. I recommend Nexus 4 or Moto G.

Due to the uncontrollable rage of Bitcoin community towards Apple you won't be able to hear both sides. I've switched from iPhone just because the lack of the Bitcoin services annoyed me to much. Overall I still think it's the best option for your conditions.

What you say is very reasonable, I Is it right? Also do what.

I disagree, while not all android phones are of the quality and as rounded as an iphone, there are many that are better, especially in the top end

Seems the new Samsung Galaxy S5 and The HTC One M8 are the current leaders. Both have similar specs, just don't get an iphone.

iPhone isn't high end.
iPhone 5: Dual-core 1.3 GHz, 8MP cam, 1 GB RAM,
Samsung S4: Quad-core 2.3 GHz, 13MP cam, 2 GB RAM

Technically, an iPhone is comparable to a cheap China Mobile in the 100~200 EUR price range.
Well, the CPU frequency/num. of cores of iPhone is obviously slower/lesser than S4/HTC One, but the CPU performance is just hell lot better than both of them.

Check out their Geekbench score. http://www.macworld.com/article/2049270/benchmarks-iphone-5s-lives-up-to-the-hype.html

Those benchmarks makes no sense, iPhone and Android are way too different at OS level to can be compared like that as even if the app has the same label it has a different code and approach.
Still, one of the biggest advantage of iOS when it comes to performance was to trash Java and Flash junk. Android ditched Flash junk, but it's mostly Java. Java should actually change their motto from "Over 300 billion devices uses Java" to "Over 300 billion devices crashes with Java" (or go dead slow).

Neither of you is wrong here.

The iPhone 5S use a newer SoC ARM architecture (with enhancement from Apple and by the way they brought a whole company a couple of years ago just for this)  and newer instruction sets aka ARM-v8 and 64 bit and a better gpu in average, since iOS is more gpu optimised and oriented it give the iPhone the edge and we can say that the iPhone 5s SoC is well optimised for the device, that being said, the Snapdragon S801 is no slouch and from a cpu only perspective it is more powerfull and of course it is way better in terms multitasking, not to mention that it is a much better integrated solution since it has SoC integrates Modems including LTE, AMP ect ect ect.

Still fact is, a Phone like the One M8, has a better screen, better cameras, better sound, better build quality and arguably better design, more versatility, and it is a faster device overall and more stable (as there are some issues with the 5S apparently)

I don't have a real rage towards the I phone.  I like alot of things about it actually I just think it's so commonly used and I'm more into models that deviate from the norm and keep up with the status quo if you will.

Same. I like the phone and have one now, but want to move away because of various reasons.

me too just because i feel safe using it you cant easily install anything unless its from cydia and itunes/appstore

Nexus 5 is a good mid-range phone, good bang for your buck. It runs smoothly if you aren't going to be playing any graphically-intensive games (ie those halo/calladoody clones)

Like others have said, take a look at the latest HTC One or Galaxy S5 if you want the best of the best.

Indeed those are mentioned to be best smartphones of 2014.

There is no uncontrollable rage against Apple, Apple is the one that can't manage its own will to control everything the idiots who buy their way overpriced gear can or can't do with their devices. At some point "the Gods of Apple" decided to collide with the Bitcoin community by removing the Bitcoin apps and make it unholy, not our community fault.

I'm gonna say the new HTC even though I haven't even looked into it.  Don't no why I just feel it will meet the standards you looking for in a phone after seeing the old model do so well I can't imagine it not being suitable for your needs.
