I've finally decide to leave behind mid powerful graphic cards with 6gb memory like gtx1660 super and decide to go big, this time aiming at rtx3070 2x or just one rtx3090, the difference in price is 200$ difference so which one is better offer, electricity efficiency wise, 2x 3070 can do 120mh and a single 3090 can do the same
Stay away from that RTX3090 because they get hotter than any other graphic cards out there unless you have a better cooling solution, go for RTX3070 or 3080 max, the reason why I like bigger cards is because of less space they use compare to having 3x gtx1660 supers

Starting this month, each manufacturer will be releasing GPUs with limiters for mining. There are no ways to increase the hashrate on new video cards yet. If you do not know what version of Nvidia you are buying, then it is better to purchase an AMD video card.
I'm guessing this limiter on Nvidia cards are going to be achievable through drivers only isn't it? So even if this happens we can still use old drivers on GPUs we got, what Nvidia don't know is there will be less demand on GPUs if GPUs are only available for gamers, a rtx3060 can last a gamer for years so no need to buy more GPU
I read that video cards that will be released in May 2021 and later will have a more complex limiter.

"Halving Hash Rate
To help get GeForce GPUs in the hands of gamers, we announced in February that all GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards shipped with a reduced Ethereum hash rate.

Today, we’re taking additional measures by applying a reduced ETH hash rate to newly manufactured GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards. These cards will start shipping in late May."

RtX3070 wins here, hands down because they draw even lesser power from the wall and also you will net yourself better higher hashrate which is the main reason why you are investing on cards, higher hashrates means higher returns

If you go with Rtx 3090 which I don't suggest because it throttles and if you don't add extra cooling to it they are not going to get that 120 mhsh mark plus they are a bit more power hungry than 2 x 3070.Personally I am mining with Rx 6800 XT and I am having one hell of a bad time trying to figure out which driver and miner works best for them but I know for Nvidia the mining is just set and forget and they don't have problems like Radeon does(at least with newer cards) so I would also recommend you go with 2 x RTX 3070 as they sure run a lot cooler compared to the 3090 beast.
Is the throttling point talking about rtx3090 only or they can appear on other cards too? So if other cards have high temp they will lose their HAshing power a bit or this is just the RTX 3090 GPUs only?
3080 does it too.
somme brands are ok. somme has a litlle problem, somme almost all fucked.
Example by myself:
ZOTAC HOLO - 3/4 OK
GIGABYTE VISION - 5/5 Fucked.
PNY - 1/1 OK
3060Ti, 3070 - all brand, all model i have - OK

It is a massive problem with the Rtx 3090 and this is solved by adding dedicated cooling in the back of the card as I said.I am not aware for any other card that this problem is as common as is with the 3090 cards.
Other cards if they go high in temperature they will consume more energy but for the hashrate I have not seen any significant drop.

The RTX3090 is worrisome because of temp on memory but I've seen people who don't care much about temp on memory, they even merge then GPUs up very close in one motherboard for mining but honestly I think this 3090 was build to handle high temp or something because so far I haven't heard about dead rtx3090 on the internet

Rtx3090 needs extra cooling and you might see some throttling too so make sure you go for then best version of RTX 3090, I don't know if it's the Asus Verizon or gigabyte but use search engine to find that out if rtx3090 is all that you care about and as for me 2x 3070 is better

Take 2x3070.
My 3070 awerage is 62/120Wat. (135 on the wall)

Another subject to consider - 3070 does not throttle and 3090 may do it.

2x 3070 = 116 Mh/s with 260 watt
1x 3090 = 114.00 Mh/s with 320 watt

data from https://whattomine.com/gpus

so, I will choose 3070
Nope, do some research on how to low watt draw on rtx3090, I'm seeing 290 watts around the web not 320 watts but you are right, 2x 3070 will save more energy than a single 3090, this is a better buy

RTX 3070 can do 61mh at 117watts, that's 234 watts

Right now a rtx3080 costs 2700$ in my country, it's a big no for me because the time to get ROI back will be longer, I don't think this bull season can last till next year, I prefer to wait till next bear market and build rigs for cheap price than now

Im fairly sure he means the 3090 is $200 more then the 2x 3070.
If you start getting 3080s and 3090s then you may have to spend money to setup better cooling.
3070 spaced apart pretty easy to cool, I just use a rack with 4 GPUs cable tied in.

I would definitely chose the 2x 3070, much cooler, powers easier to manage.
Resell would be easier later too and resell price might be better too.
The most important factor I think is price you buy it for thou.

It is better to buy 2 video cards, because they are easier to sell and the rtx3070 does not get very hot when mining cryptocurrencies. So in the summer you shouldn't have any problems with them.
gtx1660 super are also good video cards, I would not rush to sell them, unless of course they make you a good price offer

Where can you get them with $200 price difference? All cards are nearly impossible to find now, I doubt you know a secret store that sells them to you for MSRP. Market price difference between 3070 and 3090 is around $1000+ now.  To answer your question I'd go for 3090 if you live in cooler climate and 3070 if you are in hot region.
