I think they're doing a disservice to their people - the ban is not solving any problems for anyone.

Of course it is. It is solving the problem of malevolent scum from taking advantage on the weak. Many amateur investors have been deceived by these ICO scammers and do you expect the government not to do anything? You go too far by saying that "they're doing a disservice to the people".

If you get scammed from your life savings, who do you report it to?

Thinking on the higher plane of existence.
I don’t think we can dictate each government about what is our opinion here. We tolerated ICO and we don’t do much about them, if in the first place we should have made the same move before when ICO scamming is still starting. But I know one thing we can do for now. Report every scammers and don’t invest. Be matured enough to know them. Andd when ICO will changed its image in the long run maybe they will lift the banned.
Although we can't dictate each government but we can influence them. If they see the good things an ICO can do. They can probably remove the ban and thinking about regulating it. One good example is china, they saw there people earning through them thats why they simply regulate it instead of banning it.

ICO's are mostly a new tool for scammers to swindle more money from people and should be regulated as soon as possible. Unfortunately a lot of them are legit, but they are drowning in the lake of scams at the moment. The governments are only reacting this way to stop capital flowing out from their countries and also protecting the people who are investing in these scams. ^grrrrrrr^

China & South Korean have banned ICOs and i completely agree with this move. ICOs should have been banned a very long time ago. so if you have a petition to ask the governments of these two places why they have not banned them sooner i will sign it Wink

in fact i do believe that ICOs are ruining the cryptocurrency in general too. you keep seeing a new one spring out without any usage. they gather some money and that is the end of it.

if you want to petition then find a dozen ICOs that have ended at least a couple of months ago and show what they have achieved in this past months after their ICO ended. you are calling it "innovation" right. so show what they innovated after their ICO finished.
and unless you can provide any examples don't expect anything.

I completely agree, this ban should be reversed. I've already put my signature on this petition and I encourage others to do the same.

I kind of agree that ICO should be regulated, and not in banning, ICO scammed has been one of the reason the popularity of crypto currencies become bad, and no matter how many million people signed that petition, it won't change the result, the country got the right to banned anything that jeopardize their country and to protect their citizen

I've seen this petition on a traders facebook group but do you think guys that this petition has a big help or something that can do for the removal of ban on these two said countries? And why we should care about it, it's just the ICOs and not bitcoin so if you're a fan boy of ICOs and you are not living on any of those countries, are you affected of it? There's nothing wrong on it, let them understand what ICO is, maybe they are in the stage of knowing it.

Somehow I doubt that a petition such as this will have any effect on the Chinese or South Korean governments, but I can support the general spirit of it. It is not really necessary to ban ICOs or other cryptocurrency services outright; there only needs to be a way to counter deceptive and fraudulent activity in these. With time these governments may bring back the ability to have ICOs and operate exchanges but will require adherence to existing regulations pertaining to financial services.

Definitely important for everyone to take a stand and spread awareness about the bans. If the people mobilize, that will put pressure on governments to change.

I think this petition is making an excellent point. Although it is important to protect investors from fraudulent ICOs, banning them so abruptly will kill the legitimacy of crypto in the long run because people are scared away. Gave my signature.

Some of you seem to not understand what is going on:

1. Most of ICOs are trash, a totally worthless piece of code created only with one aim - to get rich fast, these project won't achieve anything.
2. So what if China and SOuth Korea banned ICO, if you can you can still promote ICOs in other countries you like, so what's the deal?
3. The ban of ICO will in the long run cause old coins to be worth more because people won't be wasting time, effort and money on backing useless ICOs.

I will participate in this petition signature. although the effect is very small, but at least I am looking for justice for those who have been deeply involved in crypto.

Haahhaha the government is not going to reverse their desition because of a random guy trying to make people sign a petition, no offense, you are not going to get anything from that, better if you try to become president and then try do un-ban it again.. Good luck with your petition, you are probably be the one who solved the bitcoin problem in China and South Korea!

Surprisingly, the South Korean ban on cryptocurrency funded ICO didn't affect the value of bitcoins at all, when i initially heard the news i said why didn't they wait for the same time to do that but i was surprised that the value even rose higher after the South Korean ban.
