TL;DR
I’ve been in country far away from home with no money left. My bank couldn't helped me at all. Fortunately there was Bitcoin. To say thank to the Bitcoin community I’m giving away free stickers.

My Bitcoin-Story
How Bitcoins saved my ass.

Back in September 2013 I bought my first bitcoin. After weeks of studying the potential and power of Bitcoin I bought some more.
I liked the idea so much – I even printed some stickers…

Then, I got hired by an ad-agency for 6 months. So I didn't had much time to support or even use Bitcoins. I actually forgot my Bitcoins – until august 2014.

After 6 months of non-stop work I decided to take a break. I booked a flight to Indonesia. 5 weeks of paradise. But already on the day of arrival I noticed my credit card was not working there... My bank couldn't figure why– so I had $50 cash left. For 5 weeks.

After 2 days of trying to get money and no food – I decided to spent $20 for a train ticket to Bali. My card wasn’t working there either… On the train I met a guy named Wawan who gave me some most of his donuts and helped me to find a cheap place to stay. We drove through Kuta for about 2 hours. On the way I noticed a Store with a Bitcoin-sign.

In that moment I remembered my bitcoins…
Right after I found a cheap hostel – I went back to that place with the Bitcoin-sign. It looked like an office and called “Bitcoincenter” – “Cash your Bitcoin here”. I sold some of my Bitcoins for $800 – enough for the rest of my trip.

I know this isn't a very cool story of “How to travel on Bitcoin”, but I’ve been in country far away from home with no money left. My bank couldn't helped my at all. There was fortunately there was Bitcoin.
So this is why I’m giving away these stickers back from 2013. Why almost a year later? To be honest: I forgot about the stickers too. Found them last week.

PS: I hope you like the idea.
Funny story and cool sticker, thanks for sharing.

Bitcoin can be a life saver, if you have to quickly exit a country. Let's look at some of the African countries, who are constantly at war with each other. We have seen many people fleeing their countries, with only

a small bag of possesions. Italy are picking up loads of refugees from Africa on a daily basis.

I always have some coins ready for this same scenario... I call it my "Bug out Money" ....You never know, when you could be placed in such a situation and you might need to survive in a foreign country.

Great story OP, it motivates me even more to increase my running stash for my family.  Wink

That's great story but you know what? It would be cooler if your friend/parent etc sent you bitcoins from your hometown, Then you cashed it out. Then you may say;
"Screw you amex! My friend send me 800$ and it's not limited by you!".

This a great story OP I wish I knew about Bitcoin back in 2013 and I would have had some cool stories of myself to tell others and as for stickers I think the postage and handling will cost me more and I'd rather have them made from a local sticker store, but thanks for your offer.

the stickers are free – you don't have to pay the postage and handling 😉

Nice OP they are really good looking.
However I value my personal info more than that.
It is still a generous offer though.

Stickers look really nice, but I don't think people is going to know what it is about if it doesn't literally say "Bitcoin" on it.
You're partially right, but it is still something. Given the fact OP decided to offer these for free, it's a great offer.

Great story. Bank cards can have some bizarre actions in some countries and it's always good to have a back up. As someone who travels a lot, there's nothing worse than ending up in a country and you don't know anyone and barely have any money. It's a nightmare. So Bitcoin saving the day is great to hear.

'Bitcoin. Don't leave home without it.'

I think using BTC when travelling, or knowing you have access to some, is a great form of travel insurance almost. I'd like to see more stories like this, as it's definitely a valid use for Bitcoin. Lose your credit card abroad and it'll take days/sometimes weeks to come. Basically, your holiday is over before you get that card.

I've known many people have their credit cards stolen. If they had a BTC back up somewhere, then all they need is an internet connection.
