As many have said, you will make next to nothing mine bitcoin. It's not even worth it. Instead, what I would do in your position is use something like www.multipool.us - it'll mine the most profitable (usually scrypt for GPUs) coin and then convert it to btc for you, if that's what you wish.

AFAIK, multipool.us doesn't have the function for converting your altcoins balance to bitcoin automatically. If you want to do that auto-conversion, you can use CleverMining.

GPU mining has come and gone, you missed the boat.

You could mine some Alt's but it's hardly worth the effort. The FREE electricity is a bonus, but she/he still need to pay it.

Well good luck anyway......

Ps ..... This should be under the mining section of the forum.

As a Newb I could not post there yet.  Smiley  Just trying to get my post up and did not want it to be BS Smiley

You can post anywhere even when you are a newbie. Just wait for 360 seconds between your post, and you are good to go.

We are more interested in GPU mining because we have the infrastructure already and the is not that concerned with Power prices because our machines need to be on anyway.

You will not earn enough to pay for the additional electricity cost.

Please understand that a GPU that is running at 100% uses much more electricity than one that is idle. Your power bill will skyrocket. Also, don't forget about cooling costs. An active GPU generates a lot more heat than an idle GPU. That means your cooling costs will go up, too.

Well it depends on electricity costs..  + location of OP: if he's in northern hemisphere, it won't need cooling for the next 5 months

If mining ASIC.  is there a page people have easily that would give the best cost per kH/s?  I'd be interested to know what is available today.  I tried searching but there was nothing solid. Well other than this wiki page https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

To the above post^ if you really want to invest in mining, scrypt could be a viable option (check out for alt currencies which you could mine and sell fro btc of course in the alt section)

I suggest that this time you should not have to invest your bitcoin mining sector, it is very risky, because of the current exchange rates fluctuating bitcoin being very high, the price for bitcoin mining is now very expensive, and its BEP point is very high, can reach more than 5 years, now I suggest you should still collect bitcoin and keep them in your wallet, sell your bitcoin only as needed, you can get more profit when your bitcoin prices rising and stable ...  Roll Eyes

Thanks I appreciate it.  Last I checked we has 27 R9 290's available to use for mining.  I just need to know if its best to mine Scrypt mining Litecoins or bitcoin or something else.

Forget about bitcoins with GPU.

There are two approaches:
Mine something "stable" like litecoin, sell them as you mine them, this would give a stady income.

or

Find somekinda altcoin that have potential to rise in value, mine a bunch of them and sell them when price a high (this is more speculation than mining, but have worked for many).

Basically you cant mine straight scrypt asics have taken it over.   I think you will find GPU disappointing.   If you are paying electricity you will lose more then you make.  I had to pull the plug on 8500 watt worth of GPU's a while back just because I was going to lose money.

You can do it, but you would be better off with a nice ASIC if you truly have electricity you don't care about.
essentially I get the GPU's for free.  its hard to pay for ASIC's but I will propose it.

If you need to make money with the GPUs, sell them on Craigslist.

Hello,  I decided to create an account for work.  Th boss is interested in Mining and I thought this would be the best way to get information for them.  We are more interested in GPU mining because we have the infrastructure already and the is not that concerned with Power prices because our machines need to be on anyway.  I will be working up numbers soon on ratios and payouts based on figures I derive from your pages so if there is any assistance out there I am open to existing information.

Look forward to more intel and getting to know everyone.
