That's one way to look at it. You could also say the guy at the end gets the satisfaction of contributing to the game and the community around the game.

There is a waiting line, the pot just fills the next person in line. So if you get in now it will be you paying off the guy a few people in front of you. and then a guy a few epeople behind you will pay u off and so forward. The guy at the end gets screwed.
