you need to create the file. be sure windows doesn't add .txt at the end of it. it also needs to go into the data folder (the one with the wallet.dat)

Thanks. I did create a HoboNickels.conf file in the same folder as the wallet.dat and peers.dat but that didn't work. Windows did add a .txt ending to it which I got rid of. I tried hobonickels.conf in lower case as well. Zilch.

My debug file reported:
"ERROR:Caddman: :Read() : open failed" and
"ERROR: GetMyExternalIP() : connection to ... failed"
"No valid UPnP IGDs found"

After seeing your message I created another .conf file in notepad, but saved it as "all files" .conf to avoid the .txt extention. Still getting same debug errors, then "Unloading wallet" and "HoboNickels exited". My firewall is set to allow HoboNickels. I'm using the same modem as my good HoboNickels wallet.

I'm wondering whether some ISPs are blocking peer-to-peer connections and whether it's new wallet installations that are affected?

So I got the bootstrap finally loaded, now the wallet doesn't have any peers.  Do I need to set a custom peers?

Try this list, entered in file "HoboNickels.conf":

Quote
addnode=101.165.17.118
addnode=98.208.92.222
addnode=98.115.147.74
addnode=77.239.40.91

addnode=114.167.234.104

addnode=78.238.254.18
addnode=79.69.27.6
addnode=50.149.214.13

How do you addnodes= (peers) to the HoboNickels.conf file?
The file doesn't exist in my HoboNickels folder. I tried inserting my nodes list from another wallet using the console but it didn't work. My new wallets on 2 different computers (Windows XP and Windows 7) can't find peers.
Has anyone trying to install a new wallet recently have similar problems?

My old wallet on my original computer (XP) works perfectly.

... bad ... cryptopia

Do you know what you are talking about? Another "good" exchange would mean a rising price? You have found the culprit, happy trading!

yes stuff are going bad with cryptopia
they are doing unprofessional stuff,posting personal information of user on the forum, dislisting coins  because someone they don't like post in the coin thread  Huh

they also dis-list DMD,ether and more, ho wanna trade there ?  definitely no future there

Ok , normally I would stay out of this.

However, there is a little too much slander for my taste.
Cryptopia is a Great Exchange, and they are passionate about their work.
I have kept up with the goings on between them and the coins you mentioned,
Cryptopia is at No Fault for defending their rep.
(And if that other coin had done a chain swap like I suggested, then that final friction between them would not have happened, at least not yet anyway)

Dmd caused their own problem with their updated wallet code,
Cryptonit was fairly diplomatic during the process, but their paid dev (old Phoenix coin dev never showed up to help correct the issue.)
So if the paid Dmd Dev fixes the code , it may get back on cryptopia on the next version  (at least according to Cryptonit's posts.)

If you want other exchanges , then Bleutrade is 2 BTC or Bittrex is 3 BTC .
Considerate the fact that EDRCoin 24 hour volume on Cryptopia is EDRC/BTC    $ 86,293
It is hardly the exchange, it is the traders that make the Volume!

 Cool

FYI:
Exchange Blaming because you don't like the Coin's Price is Pointless and Bad Form.

Agree on both points.

It must also be obvious to any that actually peruse many coin threads that DMD is the short bus of crypto...their problems are a direct result of their own idiocy.  I follow many coins and am always amazed at how stupid the statements made by the DMD dev and promotional team are, and even more amazed how many people eat that bullshit up like it's chocolate pudding.

I like this coin, but HBN needs to change to stay alive

What is your most important technical concern to change on this coin?

As far as tech goes, the memory intensive wallet seems to be a drawback for many holders. However , the need to keep the client open for a long period of time (or permanently) contributes to the security and strength of the network.

I always have at least 24 connections and up to 55 at times. There are very few other alts that get near that.

So has Tranz moved on & stopped with supporting the code?

I really hope not ... what makes you say that?

I have 60k HBM & I will hold onto them until the coin officially lives or dies. HBN was one of my favorite coins in my portfolio, it still is even though it has been going through some tough times.

So has Tranz moved on & stopped with supporting the code?

I'm staying in.  I'm actually going to buy some more.  I figure, its small investment, with a potential payoff.  It's a risk, but that's part of it.  Crypsty did hurt.  Glad I got out before Vern took my coins to China.

i think most poeple here are waiting that someone else does something
or most of them don't care anymore or can't do anything about it

for now looks like cryptsy kill this coin

for android wallets , team Fly has a service to compile wallets but it s expensive last time i check

i notice i m on the top ten rich list number 10 exactly  Shocked   so i definitely don't wanna let it die lol

No mobile wallets. Client needs to be fixed first.

Sync is old code
Orphan handling is plain stupid
This results in an ever-heavier client

agree community is weak because we are pasive, there are not many people really interested in HBN and this is getting worse wit vapourising value.

I can do my part what I told , lets see if someone respond..
