Because OP mentioned electrum as one of the wallet to choose from for creating a segwit address, I'm guessing he knows some other wallet to get a segwit address for as well.

OP needs to know that all centralized exchanges now have segwit addresses as deposit addresses for users. But of course it's not a secure storage address because you'll never have the key. Remember that those are not your keys, they are not your bitcoin, so if someone wants to have a segwit address as long term storage then they need to have a proper and trusted wallet.

First of all I wanna mention that "what is Segwit wallet?" for those who were beginners and reading this thread.
Quote from: trustwalletcommunity link=https://community.trustwallet.com/t/trust-wallet-is-segwit-compatible/923
Segregated Witness (SegWit) is a protocol upgrade developed in 2015. The protocol upgrade brought up a number of benefits, such as improved transaction speed and block capacity. In addition, SegWit solved the so-called transaction malleability bug.
As of June 2020, Bech32 349 is supported in many popular wallets and is the preferred address scheme.
Visit this thread to know about more details about segwit wallet : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.60336158
You can also visit this thread for know why you should use it which was created by 1miau Why people should be using SegWit addresses

I would like to say OP that what wallet you are using that is Centralize wallet I would suggest you that if you want to hold your funds for long  then you can avoid Centralize wallet and use Decentralize wallet  And there are many trusted decentralized wallet like you already mention  Electrum wallet you can also use trust wallet, and I think you will get more fund security in decentralized wallet than Binance where your funds are centrally controlled and  in decentralised wallet the withdrawal fee  lower than Binance. But you can use centralized exchanger based on your needs, segwit wallet supports few more famous exchangers one of them is kucoin. But even there you have to pay high withdrawal fee.

There is bunch of option and yes including using electrum, but only use binance segwit for trade and withdraw not to safe your bitcoin asset  Grin Grin like everyone else said "Not your keys not your coin" you didn't want the ftx happen again don't you haha

I am currently using Trustwallet app on android phone (I know that for now trustwallet is closed source and backed by binance that is Cex) but I am only using it for daily transaction and beside that you can generate more than One and the UI is good and the best part you can safe your own key

But still Trustwallet is closed source, if you guys want for long period time bitcoin HODL using open source wallet like Electrum Bitcoin wallet still the best way.

Binance already supported the use of the segwit for receiving and sending of bitcoin and if you are using electrum they are now with the use the Segwit address, from the previous version of electrum v.3.x.x we have a choice if you want to have your segwit or legacy but in the latest version of the electrum they are now using with the segwit, but some of the people still preferred address starts with the "3" and "1"

Hi guys I know I am not of expert but I have found that some users are unable to find Segwit addresses cause this is new in Bitcoin and after some research I have found that there are some methods where you can get Segwit  (  bech32 ) address. These are listed below.
I have no problem with you trying to explain to others what you have learned but at least check the information, or update it when they correct your information.
Talking about Segwit (bech32) has taken up a lot of discussion and has almost become a normal thing, it is not a hot topic now.

The fees is fixed around 0.0005 BTC or $8 at the moment, if you're use non custodial wallet you can pay less than $1 and it's faster than Binance lol.
Their withdrawal fee is 0.0002 BTC and it is not high as you shared.
Minimum withdrawal is 0.001 BTC.

Bitcoin Taproot (Bech32m - bc1p) adoption

Bitcoin has many Segwit types, Bech32 Native Segwit and Bech32m (Taproot) are one of them. You can follow the Bech32 adoption page from Bitcoin wiki to check what wallets, exchanges support Bech32, Bech32m addresses.

Nowadays, support for Native Segwit address type (Bech32) is very popular and with multiple choices, you should choose non custodial wallets to store your bitcoins and make your transactions from it with bech32 addresses to save transaction fee.

Do they? Didn't they have Legacy? I can't remember though I have used Trust Wallet long ago.
They do. Trustwallet generate a segwit address for bitcoin. Of course, this doesn't mean trustwallet should be recommended.

The fees is fixed around 0.0005 BTC or $8 at the moment,
Wrong.
They used to charge 0.0005 BTC for bitcoin withdrawal, but the withdrawal fee is now 0.0002 BTC which is around 3.5 dollars.

For me, its showing 0.0002 BTC fee for withdrawal on binance. But still yeah, its a lot higher than what you pay with non-custodial wallets.

Im a long term user of mycelium mobile wallet and havent faced any issues till now. Although yea that one should not be promoted but you should also know that scams are not even moderated on this forum too. Does that mean you leave the forum? Also, mycelium is an open-sourced wallet.

2) Use Binance cause Binance supports Segwit deposit address and that's so simple and Binance helped me very much and that is simplest method to get Your BTC address.
The reason why people are choose segwit address over other type Bitcoin address is to make the fees more cheaper, now you're suggest anyone to use Binance to get segwit address, how much the fee when you want to withdraw your coins? Cheesy

The fees is fixed around 0.0005 BTC or $8 at the moment, if you're use non custodial wallet you can pay less than $1 and it's faster than Binance lol.

I'd recommend mycelium

some users are unable to find Segwit addresses cause this is new in Bitcoin
Segwit address is new in Bitcoin? Come on. It has been implemented back in late 2017 and now it's 2022. 5 years! Most of the services these days have segwit implemented while only a few didn't.
When you have segwit on almost all the wallets, why do you need Binance? Binance is an custodial exchange service, it's not a wallet.

you can use trustwallet best alternative for getting bech32 bitcoin address.

Binance helped me very much and that is simplest method to get Your BTC address.
You call it the simplest method to get a bech32 address? For real? I will generate 10 bech32 addresses through other trustable wallets (where I even control my keys) faster than you who register for one binance account and kyc it to get an address lol.

any exchange should support segwit addresses.
True. Although some exchanges like bybit, bitget, phemex are yet to support it.

Also, for mobile users, I'd recommend mycelium and bluewallet (supports lnd as well) as they give you full control over your keys (unlike exchange wallets).

1) For PC users, Install Electrum wallet and that follo simple procedure and you will find your Wallet address that will be Segwit and usually initiated with the becl address code.
Usually initiated with becl?
That's wrong. Native segwit (bech32) addresses always start with bc1 and nested segwit addresses always start with 3.
Also, electrum is available for android phones as well.

2) Use Binance cause Binance supports Segwit deposit address and that's so simple and Binance helped me very much and that is simplest method to get Your BTC address.
Note that Segwit soft fork was implemented more than 5 years ago and most of exchanges support segwit addresses.
