Actually they're just second to fill that one, it was Sacramento Kings at first as an NBA franchise that accepts and mine cryptocurrency (though it was Ethereum that they're mining), they're also the first to pay players and staffs in crypto. You can read the article here (though there are separate articles stating the salary of staffs and players): https://www.sportspromedia.com/news/sacramento-kings-cryptocurrency-mine-ethereum/. For Dallas, they're not just accepting Bitcoin but Dogecoin as well.
Thank you. I knew it as I can remember that there's sort of something like this that has ever happened before. Oh yeah, I remember about that Dogecoin's support coming from the team as well.

^ Yes, that was on 3 years ago from now.

BTC now has become a common optional currency aside from fiat and let us say, this is great news to us as crypto enthusiasts because possible this will bring an impact on the BTC price. More adoption which means becomes BTC also becomes expensive.
However, this is not a surprise because Houston Texas also was crypto-friendly even before.
Nice, thank you!

Now, it's not just on these sports but also in other sports where the athletes are being allowed to choose their contracts, whether it's in fiat or btc.

More and more of this shall come soon and it'll go viral as the media always want to chase a news like this.

Texas has a strong crypto mining industry powered by their newly constructed wind farms. Accepting crypto for NFL ticket sales will further boost crypto adoption in state.

I would guess florida could be next to accept crypto for ticket sales with the tampa bay buccaneers.

Texas and florida would appear to be two of the most crypto friendly states in the USA.

While new york and california would be the least friendly.

That's right, from the information that can be perceived and analyzed as non-locals, there is always news in relation to that state where is  various aspects of the crypto issue, it is nice to know that the areas involved expand to sports as important as the NFL and not just mining.

There is at least one senator in Texas that I know of, I suppose there are several (Ted Cruz, without partisan mention) but I have seen him involved in the crypto issue, and in that same line of good intentions I think New York follows him, Eric Adams (Mayor) and along the same lines, Miami, regarding California, I don't know anything, but the judicial and political issue is also important to have bitcoin-friendly cities.

Great!

I think I've read something before like this but with another sports. Or it's just with the owner of the team that's also mining crypto, maybe that was Mark Cuban and was his team Dallas Mavericks in the NBA had proposed accepting payments in bitcoin for tickets?

This is the use case that we want to see. But aside from that, I hope that they'll eliminate the scalpers that could be the typical problem with ticket sales.

Texas is good for having been Crypto friendly it will go viral as adoption is continuing, I think that's one of the best things Texas has done to their community, this state is one of the first, and many more follow will Texas is a big state with many diverse people on it, getting their people educated on Cryptocurrency will give the edge over other states where there are people are into Crypto but their state is not, these people might even think of moving there because of Texas being Crypto friendly.

I haven't used BitWallet crypto wallet which is sponsored by this company, so I can't say anything about it, but selling tickets for cryptocurrency is another step towards wider acceptance of cryptocurrency payments. The more cases like this we see, the stronger the cryptocurrency community will become. And that's very cool.
This can still be a good adoption and hopefully, many will really spend their crypto for the purpose of buying things or services, this one is a great news especially if you are a user of BitWallet who also love the NFL sports. US is indeed a good place for cryptocurrency, though you are required to declare crypto profit but at least you are free to use it without worrying for the regulations.
I still highly doubt on that because we've known on what are the potential of holding your coins on your own wallet rather than on spending on it actively which we could actually do it with fiat.

Therefore, it would be still a personal type of choice whether you do make out use of it for some convenience or for the sake or utility or would be just simply saving it just because you've been minding about its
investment opportunity.

Overall, it is really still a good news to see that its really getting some attention and its been applied on various ways which is the best thing we could have.

...I’m sure other teams will follow along soon enough.
Another good news is that most likely not just teams but also the likelihood of more  crypto wallets taking initiative from Bitwallet and taking proposals to other sports teams to accept their sponsorship with an option to implement crypto payment for tickets or other things. I am happy about this development as It is a win win for crypto community generally.
Probably a good work for Bitwallet in partnering with the sports team and with Paypal, this can be a good adoption and it can impact the Bitwallet and the cryptomarket as well. There’s a huge number of fans for NFL and if most of them are a crypto bettor probably it can increase the adoption for Bitwallet and paypal. I’m wondering if this is also available for user outside US.

anyway, am I missing something? how can they say that millennials and Gen Z are a "difficult-to-reach audience" when the majority of crypto users are either Gen Z or Millenial?
You are missing the point. They are talking about younger generations losing interest in NFL that's why they became harder to reach. A quick search on the net and that seems to be true because the average age of game viewers is in the upper 40. Another source says that the number continues to decline every year.

I see, I guess a lot of youngsters don't see the appeal of watching sports. with the rise of technology, they are probably more interested in the newer things than watching NFL.

They probably think the addition of crypto could bring youngsters back to the sports league since we know it's this group that invest in it the most.
yeah, I think so too. but I doubt adding cryptocurrency payment would bring the result they want in the long run. I mean, I am sure there will be millennials or GenZ that will be interested in trying it out but I doubt it'll bring their interest back in the sport.

This is a goodnews seing the massive adoption over the football sports and their activities, but which of the cryptocurrency was mentioned to be their major coin of acceptance, even though i know that bitcoin being the most recognized amd valuable digital currency eill be among the enlisted coins among other fews, accepting payment in cryptocurrency is an added advantage on both the spectators and the organizers because no one will find a barrier in through the payment process.

This is more happening in the sports industry right now because of more money they can really gather if they implement such options in their platforms no matter what kind of sports it is. I am shocked that they are the first team to do it and when this will give them good results, I'm sure the other teams will also follow what they did. a lot has already happened with the cryptocurrencies and I'm pretty sure they already know how to take advantage with it in the sport industries.

Hopefully, this is a good start that can help the development of crypto as a means of payment in addition to using fiat or other payment methods. If this is successful, the nearby cities will try to use it and when some cities are also successful in applying it, this will make the adoption process run well. Gradually, this will become a new trend in the world of sports that will open up opportunities for people to get to know crypto more closely.

There are many crypto-friendly states already, but only a few are doing something like tickets are for sale in exchange for crypto. NY afaik is also crypto-friendly including Miami, all want to be a crypto center but failed to make adoption on the merchant's level. We all want something where people can go and pay using thier mobile wallet so the Houston Texans NFL team is one great initiative.

Financial technology is growing, so everyone can use cryptocurrency to make any transactions or payments because all that is needed is the seller accepts payments using cryptocurrency, even though it has not been registered in state regulations I'm sure there are those who have accepted payments using cryptocurrency for those who already understand how to use it . because indeed with cryptocurrency any purchase from any country will be easy to send and of course the cost is very cheap with very high transaction speeds.

Very good news for Texans. I think having an option to pay with cryptocurrencies is really good thing for adoption. It is obvious that back in 2015/2016 main drive for price increase was crypto integrated payments. Crypto gambling is also very nice option as it can make people who are less interested to gambling, more into it. I think southern US states are known with their liberty loving nation, they should become flag bearers with crypto.

Having a Crypto mining farm in one state can fast tract adoption of Cryptocurrency, there are a lot of compliance certificates for individuals and companies, and even states to set up a Crypto mining farm, so if they have it in their states people in that states should also promote, usage of Cryptocurrency, its a domino effect, you can't have a legal mining farm with the majority of your constituents not aware or educated about Cryptocurrency, it comes with the territory.

Even though they've been struggling these past few seasons, it's still great to see the Texans take in a crypto partnership and accept crypto payments as another way to buy their tickets.

It makes me curious to see how much people would actually spend their crypto and buy some tickets (maybe not much) but regardless of the numbers I also hope other teams and potentially other leagues will be encouraged to do the same.

The Houston Texans enter the crypto realm as the first NFT team in history to accept crypto. The acceptance of crypto is made possible through its recent partnership with the Houston-based crypto wallet platform called BitWallet.

Houston Texans easing the payments with crypto

The partnership will allow fans to use their cryptocurrency for payments to purchase single game suites. The Houston Texans also earn the title of being the first NFL team to sell a suite through crypto payments.

“We are proud to partner with BitWallet to offer an exciting option for our fans who are looking to enjoy Texans gameday in one of our suites.”

“Digital currency has become a primary means of payment and by partnering with BitWallet, the Texans are leading the way in the NFL.” “I am honored that BitWallet is the first to offer Texans fans this service,” said BitWallet CEO John T. Perrone.

The most recent trend in cryptocurrency initiatives is the sponsorship of sports, including baseball, Formula 1, UFC, football, and eSports. The multi-million dollar expenditures on sports partnerships are primarily intended to increase credibility and fan engagement.

Crypto transactions involving sports clubs and leagues increased by over 100% in 2021 and are anticipated to continue growing in the years to come.

For leagues, clubs, and sportsmen throughout the world, the crypto sector is incredibly valuable. In response, leagues, teams, and professional players are attempting to engage with younger audiences, such as Gen Zers and Millennials, a difficult-to-reach yet crucial demographic for the sports business.

With the soaring adoption of cryptocurrencies and the fact, that they are the fastest and most reliable mode of payment for many as compared to conventional modes of payment, the acceptance of crypto is crucial. Not just by merchants worldwide, but the sports teams and companies accepting crypto for payments are actually easing the whole process for the fans.

Sounds like a great first step for Houston Texans and the crypto community (as well as the crypto gambling community) overall. I really just don't hope that we see another onstorm of regulators trying to spoil the party by trying to get their foot in the door and introducing arbitrary reasons of why crypto and gambling needs to be kept away from each other.

Although why exactly they picked Bitwallet is a bit of a mystery to me. There are way better wallets. But, all roads lead to rome I guess.

As far as the crypto community is concerned, they could possibly help with this new crypto adoption by helping increase credibility and fan engagement as well. The bigger the PR the better.

They probably think the addition of crypto could bring youngsters back to the sports league since we know it's this group that invest in it the most.

Sadly, even with crypto added on NFL, the youngsters will still pursue other things and would probably stick to what's popular instead. American football is slowly losing viewership and foothold on the younger generation because a lot of them are inclined on video games and more popular sports instead. I don't think adding crypto as an option for ticket sales is enough to get people interested in football again. There has to be more than integrating crypto: they need to have an effective marketing team to sell the 'beauty' of this sport to other people.
