Thanks for your time.

Here to have fancy address are two possibilities .
First at may be they have created Thier account in this forum with the first two three words from Bitcoin address that they have already ( as you say ) .
Secondly may be they have created the Bitcoin address manually . I know that I said something  that which is unbelievable ( for you and for someone ) but still you can make your manual Bitcoin address ( in the starting only words ) Just go at the Google and search about paper wallet you will come across that type of step where you need to write your own words from your mind .
Here is the third option also , Thier are 2-3 sites in the internet which are providing the vip Bitcoin address ( free and premium depends upon the no. Of words you want fancy )  but I will never recommend you because the private key they will have and can scan you .
So here it is more better to use simple address instead to go in risky ways .

A few years ago I got an address with my first name on it from a service called bitcoinvanitygen

1Ahmed4o9ffGTqEi86o9F3nCz1tTPks2Z2

I actually used it as I didn't realise or understand how dangerous that was until some dear members on the forums shouted it out and explained how the owners of that site had the same keys and the same level of access that I had.

From that day, I stopped using it completely.
But still it's something cool to show off lol  Grin

You can use following websites to generate bitcoin wallet vanity address, I haven't used any of them so be careful and do your research before going with any of these websites.

https://bitcoinvanitygen.com
https://vante.me
https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen

However, I would not recommend anyone to go with the vanity address. The best practice is to download secure, trusted github git and generating a wallet from the offline computer.

Actually, if you use vante.me then you're safe because they use split key generation. Or just use vanitygen.

but bitcoinvanitygen is someone that you should not trust. Ever. Even though they say that the private keys are only to your eyes, they might be telling a lie. Nobody knows. Some people sa ythat their coins got stolen when it was in an address registered with bitcoinvanitygen. Just not worth the risk at all.

Vanitygen is the safest option because everything can be done offline, and on your computer. Vanity addresses generated using vanitygen are as safe as bitaddress wallets.

As we all have experienced many hack incidents in the bitcoin sphere, I don't have trust on web wallet concept for the long term storage (for regular transactions they are best and user-friendly). I usually prefer to go with GitHub gits in zip files and use it on the offline computer to generate cold storage wallets.

The address cannot be generated by somebody else, maybe the first characters but not the rest so technically they are not identical. As for how much letters (how fast) you can get pretty much depends on the GPU power you have, If you choose something long, It will take forever, keep it simple for 4-5 characters.

See this thread for how to create one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/vanitygen-vanity-bitcoin-address-generatorminer-v022-25804

after about an hour i have got one.

Pattern: 1admin
Address: 1adminACpFzmsW8uusEy354UXKVEreWk3

thanks , i have download the app and now runing it for testing

so far i have got this.

C:\Downloads\Compressed\vanitygen-0.22-win>vanitygen64.exe 1admin
Difficulty: 15318045009
[1.56 Mkey/s][total 418677584][Prob 2.7%][50% in 1.8h]

thanks , i really appreciate it., great app.

Right now the probability of finding your custom address is 2.7%. I guess your computer is a bit slow and prefix difficulty is high, 50% in 1.8h. You will get your address between 95-100% probability, but sometimes after 100%.

Never use online third-party fancy address generators, not safe. I think apart from bitcoinvanitygen you can also create a vanity address using bitaddress.org, not recommended.

Whatever you do, don't use websites to create it
I made a mistake of making a vanity address using BitcoinVanityGen (The site even has HTTPS lol)
It was all fine for like a month then i deposited 6 bitcoin and within hours they accessed my wallet and stole all the bitcoins

That's really worse. What's the need of having fancy address. It always gain attention from users all around and this itself had serves as an reason for the loss of such a big amount. When we make changes its gets added somewhere else out of the origin. So it always has risk in it.

damn, 6 btc, that is bad, i am already paranoid about loosing my btc., thanks for the heads up, i wont be using any online service then.,

but what happens if i find a bitcoin address using the app, and if somebody else also find the same address, wont it make the same private keys and make my bitcoins accessible by him ? just a random thought.

..like bright metal on a sullen ground.
Personally, I would prefer not to use those fancy vanity gen addresses.

Somebody might be lulled into a false sense of security if they see the vanity part of the address match, and a scammer could create one, too, with the same prefix.

Plus, better to use an address that's backed by a hardware wallet.

That's true, someone could spoof the vanity part to try to steal incoming funds by confusing people. Although I think there are ways to generate addresses that would protect you from that, even with a weak hashing rig, so long as you don't require an entire specific vanity name.  IIRC you could search for some prefix you want and then see if by chance you get some other totally unpredicted english word right after your prefix. This way you could get the number of characters in the vanity part high enough that it is unlikely to be duplicated in any realistic time frame.

That was sad experienced of yours, It is shows only that we need to be very careful in website that we are going to get
in. It is still much good and better to use  legit bitcoin wallet address like electrum wallet.

fly or die
I just did it today with a small command line generator on a laptop, see discussion here : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/vanitygen-vanity-bitcoin-address-generatorminer-v022-25804

My alias is only 5 letters which is perfect for this. It takes from some seconds to a few minutes. As soon as I tried adding letters, the predicted time exploded.

I even launched it on a powerful 32-core server at work (not a production server) and it would have taken several days still. I think with my graphic cards it could be quicker, I must try.

Vanity addresses can be risky in a sense that the generator can trick you to share your private key. Just to feel how it can harm you, you can go through this example thread.

Thanks for your time.

You can create them yourself or have someone else make it for you. These are called "vanity address." If you want to make your own (safer as you are the only one knowing the whole private key. Though harder to generate addresses when it is nearing 7 characters or more. You will need a strong pc.

Try out bitherwallet, they have an inbuilt vanity generator. The vanitygen.ext is quite to understand if the user is only a newby.
