It's been said that nothing good comes easy one has to work for it. The work here according to your question refers to research, you do a lot of reading about any altcoin you see and ask for advise too from those that you kow are fully involve in this.

Research is the best answer i can give you. See what you like and go with it. Crypto-news, forums like this and speak to people who already have experience in trading altcoins.

There are tons of small coins that don't have any trust and stability, it's so-called shitcoins. Be aware of them. I'd recommend look at Coinmarketcap to find out the best coins by market capitalization, price and volatility. Also check whether they ever looked like a scam, if they didn't feel free to buy some of them. I'd recommend to stick to top-20 coins.

Use ICObench if you want to invest during the pre-ICO or ICO phase, there are some really good ones with great return potential.
Or, you could simply watch some YouTuber which are trust worthy (I recommend DataDash) which recommends different types of coins.

MY suggestiong for finding good altcoins is to go to https://coinmarketcap.com and find the most recently added coins, which are usually new ones, and you will see that some of them go up A LOT when they are added, so you should take a small gamble on these.

Alternatively, you should read the announcements section of this forum and find the hottest coins being launched right now. These have the potenatial to grow a lot more since they are already viral here on Bitcointalk. Hope this helps you. Smiley

First, you need to decide what kind of trader you want to be, you want to invest longterm or not?
use coinmarketcap to check tendencies but read and read a lot, get information about the project behind each coin and who is involved and potential investors, that could help doing some choices  Wink

Good advice,

good sources are:

Twitter
Youtube
Reddit
This forum Smiley

Check them all and look on the projects website, see what you think - you like it? buy it? simples.

look for an exchanger that holds a vote for a coin listing ..
buy coins with top three ranks
then hold it until one wins ...
then sell with 20% profit maybe Smiley

I found one ICO very interesting. Instead of mining you can get some ICO's by promoting them on social media, adding artists, venues,...

If you want to increase your start budget by using social media than you can check out @Viberate where you can get some tokens on daily bases for participating in promotional activities.
Check out also their road map and predict some changes in price related to updates.

They give away 5000VIB's daily and reward looks like this (depends on participation volume):

Dear XY!
Thank you for playing a part in the music revolution.
Below we're sending you a breakdown of your recent community participation activities on our platform.
Total amount awarded: 174.9220 VIB

You can read more about participation on link bellow:

In this forum a lot of info you ask, and it takes a long time to understand it. Leave some time for you to learn in this forum and do research on coin prices, for example at https://coinmarketcap.com/ the price list of cryptocurrency is all there.
So there is no late word to learn, only our self can control it. And not the instant in this world, to get a satisfactory result we must try as hard as possible. Because in my experience, if you are going to invest in a crypto world at least you should understand about cryptocurrency. And if you want to earn income in this forum you should also understand about cryptocurrency.
So good luck bro you can try it.

he easiest thing is to choose the top 10 coins in the coinmarket even whichever market you like and keep watching the movement.
if it is mature and want to invest choose a stable long-term coin instead of relying on pump one night.

If you are referring to price of the coin that can pump like crazy despite being dumped quickly in next few months than its hard to give you any suggestions but if you are looking for coins that have lots of potential and can have long/stable price growth + development than invest in coins with active developer team and coins that provide real life solutions.

As a newbie, I have little experience in choosing a promising altcoin and there must be some important thing that I don't know now in the process of choosing a altcoin. I want to stand on the shoulders of giants and I hope you can teach me something. Thank you.
If you're referring trading altcoins, this is what I can suggest before you trade. First check always the volume if it's high then probably there's a chance of massive price hike. Do your own research check every details, information and whitepaper as well. Suscribe to it's website and be update for every news  of company and team. Always check the background and partnerships, possible merchants and so on. Stay tune to their telegrams, social media accounts, blogs and most important their website. "INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE". A little bit risky though.

There are few things you have to look at when choosing promising or good altcoin or ICO to invest into;
1. Team with enough experience and skills to build what they are promising
2. Some prototype of beta platform so that investors can have a look at test version before investing.
3. Low soft cap and hard cap so that only few investors can invest during ICO
4. Very low % saved for developer team and not big bonuses given during ICO or Pre-ICO.
