What you need is a 3rd party dev (or the BTG dev crew) to  create a fork of Electrum that works with BTG... like Jonald Fyookball made with ElectronCash. Again, that project like ALL Electrum forks is not developed by the Electrum devs or supported by them.

Not part of the BTG team, I made this tool https://github.com/Ayms/bitcoin-transactions

This works for standard and multisig wallets, like Electrum, for BTG now but in fact for any coin based on Bitcoin code, BCH, BTC, zcach, etc (and yes there are dev fees as clearly stated in the description with even a link to people that dislikes it a bit)

Probably not totally trivial to use but still easier than whatever exists, and you don't need to run/sync a node and your wallet, that's the whole purpose of this tool

This is not something coming from nowhere, you can read those threads https://github.com/BTCGPU/BTCGPU/issues/238 and https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26150335 (and the description of the tool on Github)

they'd posted $70k bounty on that. Electrum use smth like remote node in monero so you need atleast  server to run it ,but i dont see btg offers smth on that.

I think I'll wait until either BTG is worth more or Electrum starts supporting it.
Might play around with that after the new year though just to learn all this a bit more.
I can tell you now that "Electrum" will likely never support BTG. Given ThomasV never even "supported" BCH which was a much "bigger" fork in terms of mining support and value... I very much doubt he has even looked at BTG Tongue

I'd suggest contacting the BTG via their social media contacts for updates on whether  they intend to release an Electrum compatible wallet.

Thanks.

Yea, I'm just gonna hold off and wait and see if the price jumps more. It'a almost not worth all the work right now for like $100.

Guessing you didn't see the thread titled: [TUTORIAL] How to extract Bitcoin Gold from a 2fa Electrum Wallet [STEP BY STEP] Wink

and before you ask... no, there isn't really an easier way to get it out... unless you want to pay someone to do it for you.

I purchased Bitcoin on 1/11/17,  am i due bitcoin gold?
No... the BTG fork was around 24th October 2017. You needed to have BTC BEFORE this date to get BTG. AS, you got bitcoin AFTER that date, there will be not BTG for you.

After the fork you will need a wallet that supports BTG. It can be done using Coinomi Desktop wallet that allows you to import your private key. https ://www.coinomiwallet. org/ <-- SCAM
Which doesn't work for Electrum 2FA wallets... as they are MultiSig.

Coinomi is ONLY useful if the address you have the coins in starts with a "1"... if your address starts with a "3" (either 2FA or MultiSig)... you CANNOT use Coinomi at this time (I believe they said they were working on MultiSig solutions? Huh)

ALSO, this website appears to be a SCAM... being spammed by a bunch of newbies... the official site is www.coinomi.com and they have ONLY (officially) released a wallet for Android

what's the problem to do this:
http://docs.bitshares.org/muse/migration/howto-exporting-wallet-clients.html
then run bluestacks and coinomi
?
Probably nothing... unless you happen to have an Electrum 2FA wallet... or a MultiSig wallet... or a SegWit wallet... Roll Eyes

In which case, your proposed solution simply won't work Tongue

Is there any solution how to retrieve bitcoin gold from Electrum 2FA wallet?

No problem whatsoever. If you look further up that's precisely what I suggested to others after successfully doing this on my own (mind you, at the time nobody had suggested the bluestacks approach).

Call it convenience, this is what services are for, right?

I'm offering a service to extract Bitcoin Gold from a 2fa Electrum Wallet, I'll take only 5% of the recovered BTG as a tip. The whole process it's very complicated and risky, yes, and requires a lot of time but it's doable, I will take care of everything, if you are interested hit me a PM or add me on Skype: [email protected]

I suggest you to do this, before BTG actually fails, as everyone are saying sell ASAP, so contact me and I'll take care of you. You won't even need to download the entire blockchain of the BTG Core Wallet, I will send BTG to a Coinomi wallet of yours if you wanna hodl them or to an exchange if you wanna sell them (if you are not pratical I can help with this too, don't worry).

P.S. Before you do this, you have to empty your Bitcoin Wallet from Bitcoin sending them to a brand NEW wallet, same with Bitcoin Cash, send them to a new Electron or another BCH wallet, so when you have to extract the BTG the wallet has to be empty from BTC and BCH

If you don't trust I can walk you through step by step

I looked in Explorer blocks my BTG addresses from electrum.

Why not on one no money.

I can see that addresses start at G and in bitcoin to 1

All the same right to get BTG coins?

For whoever is interested, I managed to get my bitcoin gold without using an Android phone. I installed an Android emulator (I used BlueStacks - it's available for all platforms) then installed Coinomi there and followed one of the many guides available. Worked flawlessly.

Has anyone actually been able to get their BTG out of Electrum?

Tried Coinomi, but said wallet did not have funds (similar to what someone else hosted)

You can only do it through coinomi if you have a "1" address... I have a "1" and was able to retrieve some of my BTG... but my other wallet has a segwit address "3" and I can't retrieve any of them.... and I'm scared that I exposed my PK to public sites already and they will steal my BTG.... (bitaddress)

I looked up the public address on a block explorer and it shows that it is there... so I don't know what to do.... I even downloaded the BTG core wallet and tried to importprivkey and it didn't work either...

Thanks for the info. My address does start with a 3. Hopefully they decide to support it in the future. Now I just wish I never took my BTC off of Bittrex, since they have already given out appropriate BTG.

Hello. Help me please. I used abovementioned guide but when i use the sweep function it just tells me there aren’t any funds in the wallet. But i deposited btc to electrum at 22.10.17.
What can i do to solve ptis problem?

Thank you! I found a reazon. "The address starts with a "3" and is protected by multisig or is a segwit address"
Can you advise me similar wallets, in which this problem is solved?

Sorry, I don't know how to get BTG from segwit addresess. I guess you have to wait a little longer till devs implement such feture.  Just please do not be desperate and avoid using web wallets claiming they can do it ( they will steal your coins).

Thanks. I think it's better not to hurry up in this matter)

You're welcome though I didn't help you much  Wink

Move your BTC to another wallet first do not sweep your private key on their btg core wallet, btg developer team is proven to be part of scam operation, someone already reported that their core wallet is stealing private key and then take the BTC out, so far the safest way is claiming through coinomi but their coin is scam anyway so there is potential risk in future they may send out updated wallet that steal private key again

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-gold-wallet-scam-nets-3-million-illicit-earnings/
Did you even READ the article? Roll Eyes It specifically states that the "mybtgwallet" webscamsite was responsible for the theft:

Perpetrated by the operators of a website called mybtgwallet.com, the scheme prompted users to submit their private keys or recovery seeds as a means to generate bitcoin gold wallets, as seen on an Internet Archive snapshot. Shortly after users did so, however, the cryptocurrency holdings in their wallets were sent to different addresses.
Having said that, it really shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone, that a relatively unknown website asking you to input your private keys and/or recovery seed turns out to be a scam... Roll Eyes

Furthermore, it also mentions that the "John Dass" guy who was responsible for "mybtgwallet" was NEVER part of the BTG Development Team:
Quote
"The investigation increasingly indicated that the original developer, 'John Dass,' was responsible for the fraud all along… He has dropped out of touch with us, as well," he said.

While Dass was in the bitcoin gold Slack channel with a "developer" tag, he was not a part of the project's formal team, Iskra said.

There was "no formal relationship at all. He did interact with our devs in the Slack regarding developing his open-source code [and] his web site," he told CoinDesk. "The BTG Twitter account was simply supporting an individual in the community who was supporting BTG – that was their sole intent, at the time."

It might pay to actually READ things properly before throwing some serious scam accusations and FUD around! Roll Eyes

The Bitcoin Gold Core wallet is opensource and, as far as I'm aware, not malicious and not involved in any theft of any crypto currency. Happy to be corrected if you have some actual proof that shows otherwise.

Guys - (sorry first post, long lurker), how the hell do I retrieve BTG with electrum? I have all my private keys, (only need one). But I can't touch coinomi because 1) I have segwit address's ("3") and 2) I don't have an android.

So, for claiming BTX, I was able to get them by pointing my BTC electrum wallet to electrum.bitcore.cc and the coins showed up after some time.

Anyone know if that would work with BTG as well? And if so, what server do I point electrum to?

(Because of it being a multisig address I cant import the private key into Coinomi)

Not sure if either one is "official".. but the block explorers I've found are:

you'll probably be waiting a while for a BTG "Electrum" fork. Undecided

You could give a try command importprivkey ("importprivkey YOUR_KEY") but I can't tell if it will work.

Until the BTG Devs put out a BTG compatible Electrum fork... Your only option is to export the private keys for the addresses that have BTG from Electrum and then import them into a BTG wallet.

Would love to import the private keys to a BTG wallet but from reading reports here it sounds like all web wallets are untrustworthy (to say the least), while the only mobile wallet is only available on Android. No options for desktop or iOS. Short of using the BTG client and downloading the entire chain, I suppose..

Yeah, as I can see it was pretty attractive for scammers given how much of these scam wallets appears ( got recently an email from blockchain-gold.something ... it went right into trashcan after I saw the sender domain )

If you don't have android device (and you really want to move your BTG to exchange for sale) you might ask some reputable members to do that for you. Expect some small reward would be required.

AFAIK, no other wallets will even import an Electrum seed as it isn't BIP39 compatible.

Even the BIP39 tool will tell you it's an invalid seed unless you modify the code to work with Electrum.

Your solution: Coinomi

If you do not wish to move your balance to them, you will have to share the private key for the address that held those btc at the time of snapshot.
Coinomi has explained the procedure in detail and you wont have trouble claiming them.

Coinomi only seems to support sweeping on the Android app. There is no iOS app yet, and their beta desktop app doesn't have a sweep feature. And as far as I can tell all the web wallets are scams. So back to square one - no option outside of Android, unfortunately. I wish I could be proven wrong.

Are there any options available currently to retrieve your BTG with a pre-fork electrum seed, one that is not just for Android (Coinomi).

As for now, it seems Coinomi offers the only safe and convenient option.

Anyone knows a good electrum alternative for non-Android users?
Basically every other wallet found in the BTG website[1].

Just be careful with the fake Electrum "forks" that there is around and web wallets.

As per the recent experience which puts in sigh about electrum-gold.org be aware <- it is scam
The head developer hidden his identity and many was unintentionally pulled into this even.
Electrum-gold.org is a reboot of scam wallet, it directs you to click on a link and download a file, once you do that you are done.
They gets your IP, install a virus/spyware/malware on your computer.

bitcoingold.org is the right official wallet for Electrum Gold wallet.

Ensure you are making a secure transaction before you make it.

You can use the Electrum Gold wallet for bitcoin gold  https ://www.electrum-gold.org <-- SCAM SITE DO NOT VISIT THIS SITE
Fairly sure that is just a reboot of the SCAM WALLET listed here: https://bitcoingold.org/not-official-websites/ it is even using the same "screenshot" (with some edits to the toolbar)

For the record, that electrum-gold website has a single download link that links to a .zip file here: https ://github.com/mysmsbiz/btg/releases/download/v2.9.3/electron-gold-2.9.3.zip <-- SCAME WALLET!! DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS!!!

That "github" has absolutely ZERO code associated with it... https://github.com/mysmsbiz/btg

DO NOT visit electrum-gold and DO NOT download and/or use the wallet... you're likely to lose BTC/BTG and infect your computer with all sorts of malware.

Keep an eye on https://bitcoingold.org/ <-- OFFICIAL Bitcoin Gold website... they will announce when the BTG compatible wallet is released!

Have you not seen the site in its entirety? The head developer has his identity hidden. While the oter people around him probably know their identity and can post it, they may also be dragged down with them if it turns out to be a scam).

It is strange that they've posted so much information about themselves online and they have a business address (that being said, I'm not sure how well their registrar will check the identity they have given is accurate).

It's funny looking at Whois database for electrum-gold.org because they paid for domain protection through namecheap.
Though if you search whois for BTC-Gold.info, it yields yet more information about the person running it.
Again, if this is a scam, this scammer sucks at scamming; can't hide his trail worth a shit.

Not saying it's legit but if it is a scam, the scammer wreaks of leaks.

If I had chump change on my wallet I'd try it but I don't, none of my addresses have little coin worth to risk on.

Looking for an update on this.... can we STILL not split our bitcoin gold from bitcoin that was stored in an electrum wallet? Has there been no progress on this?

According to their blog - https://bitcoingold.org/blog/ - they're still running the testnet, and the mainnet is still listed on their to-do list.  I think we need to wait.

There is no link to the source... And as far as I can tell, this website is NOT related to the official Bitcoin Gold website here: https://bitcoingold.org

Also, they say on their blog that BTG Electrum is on their TODO list... ie. It hasn't been completed. Refer: https://bitcoingold.org/replay-protection-development/

I'd be very surprised if that download was legit... Chances are high it will either steal your BTC (and BTG) and/or fill your computer with malware.

Electrum Bitcoin Gold wallet ht tps://www.electrum-gold.org

does anyone try it?
if i have to import my btc private key to this btcgold wallet, does i need anyway to move my bt  to an other wallet before? There is really the risk of my btc stolen or lost?

No, and I will not (hope nobody tried). I haven't even visited the site but read this:

Electrum Gold released (edit)electrum-gold.org

CAUTION

Above mentioned wallet is not "official electrum wallet".
Personaly I'm very sceptical about it as to me it looks like the author is just trying to take advatage of well known "electrum wallet" to lure people (what other reason could be to name it like that ??)
Use at your own risk.

EDIT: @CryptoVinny - it's your first and only post  Cheesy ..  Im pretty sure you are the author ... nice try, but next time try to find better way to make money then from scamming others.
Now GTFO.

Likely a scam indeed. Bitcoingold.org does not show any electrum variant as wallet and the site linked above links to at first glance shady pages that ask you to "import" your private keys/seeds. For some reason they require you to have a current bitcoin (BTC) balance, which is bullshit. You just needed to have a BTC balance for block 491406 in order to have BTG now.

1. there is no need to have BTC balance at the address now  (operator is just hungry and wants to scam you both coins )
2. The entire thing how was announced was shaddy. Proper wallet would make ANN thread rather than just random posts in threads asking how to get BTG.

When using this you are risking losing your BTG (and also BTC if you give him prv. key with both coins on it) and I dare to say the chance you lose them is 100%.

Check my post above. Coinomi is well know wallet with lot of satisfied customers and will include BTG soon.

guys, supposed  that i have 1 bitcoin in wallet A before fork, and after fork i move 1 bitcoin out of wallet A. now wallet A is emply, so can I claim 1 bitcoin gold from wallet A?

You can't claim bitcoin gold at the moment as it hasn't launched yet but Once it goes live probably on November 1st, Yes you can claim your BTG's from wallet A by importing it to a designated bitcoin gold wallet. They are giving updates on their site as well as other necessary information here https://bitcoingold.org/blog/

This is interesting. I have already sold mine BTG on bitfinex ... What the heck did I sold  Grin

Better wait. Coinomi is coming with update soon ... https://twitter.com/CoinomiWallet/status/925842529219764224
(step by step quides will be after)

To speed things up you can now move your BTC to new address as the old one you need to be sweep into coinomi (thus will be compromised).

OK thanks. I don't really get how people are still apparently trading it if the software isn't released, but maybe it's futures trading or something?  Anyway I was just curious, it doesn't affect me.
Yes, that is correct... it is effectively "futures" trading on a few (unlinked) exchanges... #speculatorsGonnaSpeculate Roll Eyes There is currently NO BTG blockchain... so technically, it still doesn't exist. All they did was take a snapshot so when they start pre-mining, they have a starting point.

One more question:  I have read that the BTG fork occurred at block 491,407.   Could you confirm that the "Height" in Electrum's Coins view shows the the block that the transaction happened in, and thus that the following means that I bought my BTC at block 491,325, and am therefore definitely OK to get BTG?

(Edit: I guess I'm not allowed to embed pictures.)
Correct... Block Number == Block Height... so your transaction was confirmed in Block 491,325... 82 blocks before the snapshot was taken.

The fork happened on October 23rd but you won't be able to get your bitcoin gold as the software is still with the developers.
The developers promise to release the software on November 1st. So all you can do is leave your coins where they are for now (or prepare for redeeming the Bitcoin Gold by moving your coins to a new wallet).

I intended to buy BTC to invest before the BTG fork so I would get both and (hopefully) have more total value, and it looks like I cut it much finer than I expected in terms of getting in before the fork!  I had thought it was happening October 25th or Nov 1st, but apparently I got in only 82 blocks before it happened.  I guess that's still a few hours in terms of time, but still much closer than I intended.

Hi all

I'm in the same situation as the OP - I have BTC from before the fork (literally just before - I bought it on October 23rd) in an Electrum wallet, and I wanted to know how to claim my BTG.

I'm a bit confused about whether or not the fork has happened?  People in this thread are saying it won't fully happen until Nov 1st, and that's what I had expected when I bought my BTC.  But then today I read an article on CNBC (it won't let me link it, but it's first on Google search for "bitcoin gold") saying "Bitcoin Gold price plunges", and I then checked CoinMarketCap and they show a price graph for BTG, starting October 24th, which must indicate trading?

So if the fork doesn't go live until Nov 1st, how are people trading it already since October 24th?

I guess it doesn't really matter - I don't actually want to trade BTG right now, so as long as there will definitely be a way for me to get access to my BTG after Nov 1st, that's fine.  I'm just a bit confused as to what exactly has happened so far, and would be grateful for further clarification.

Thanks

So confusing... Huh i think i'll wait until 1st november. better not hurry and regret after. Smiley

Yeah. You'll still have to wait until the 1st of November anyway.
But a summary of my last post:
Note down your seed.
Make a new electrum wallet (you should backup the seed somewhere anyway).
Send your coins from your old wallet to a new one (just like a regular transaction).
Then, come November 1st, import your private keys with the bitcoin gold into your new wallet.

Some wallet give you free exchange your BTC to BTG but not know if you can this after fork start

That's because the exchange has locked down the BTG/BTC funds. I expected them to be a bit faster than this in releasing the code. You may be able to withdraw BTC currently but BCG is unavaliable until after the fork.

The improvement to the bitcoin gold site looks good: http://btcgpu.org/ - I expect there's more to come though from them.

yes this makes sense,

In Electrum

wallet A has 1BTC and is entitled to 1BTG

export private keys for wallet A

move BTC from wallet A to Wallet B

In Coinomi

Import private keys from electrum wallet a

add BTG to new coinomi wallet

so there can be no replay attack as the electrum wallet A does not contain BTC

Import refers to importing your addresses along with the private keys. There are two options here:
1. Sweep - which will ensure all of the coins are moved from the original wallet to the second one.
2. Send a transaction on the network from the first one to the second (use the MAX feature to do this).

I'd say that the second one is much safer as your private keys get exposed less (as they don't enter the clipboard). And also, you have to pay more for the first option in fees compared to the second so it's not too useful to do.

The "snapshot" has happened... but the launch of the actual BTG network/blockchain will not occur until after Nov 1st (at the very earliest)... the code is not finished, there is no "BTG" at the moment. Undecided

Nothing to do now but wait.

Just adding this site for more info about bitcoin gold https://btcgpu.org/
I just found it in google posted in the blog so i just share here because what you are asking is already in FAQ list..

Thank you! I see the fork already happened! Can i do this now?
Are you sure about that? I haven't been following the fork for some days so I can't confirm.
Actually, it's not even possible to add Bitcoin Gold to Coinomi yet. This is what I found in the article comments:

"The BitcoinGold wallet will only get enabled inside your Coinomi after the snapshot, so you can’t see or add it just yet"

For now, I don't know which wallet you could use to claim your coins.

Edit: Looks like you are right and the fork already happened. I believe that all you can do is wait until someone release a working wallet so you can import your private keys and redeem the BTG coins.

After the fork you will need a wallet that supports BTG. It can be Coinomi or any other wallet found here[1] that allows you to import your private key.

Follow this guide to export your private keys from Electrum to Coinomi (the guide is for BCH but it's going to worth for BTG aswell); And then this[2] one afterwards.
