Actually he doesn't have to forget it if he has good intentions to learn and improve the quality of his posts. I used to be a bounty hunter too but I managed to get merit when promoting bounties, especially in the signature program. It's about how I maximize the time to gain knowledge because actually one can still learn something regardless of what he is promoting.

Most people might think that if users still promote the bounty then they won't get rank, I think that's not true because after all rank and merit will be easy to achieve depending on the quality of the post. But the problem is that many users don't really care about the quality of the posts because maybe knowledge is the reason. So whatever they promote as long as they care about quality then I'm sure they will get merit and rank.

You will not earn anything in the bounty if you only have one account, OP. In addition, having alternative accounts, if they are inattentive anywhere and break the rules, also has bad consequences. A few more warnings.

What is the way out? Forget about bounties and invest your time in the future. Read and develop on the forum, don't lie about what you are incompetent at.

You will be surprised at how easy it is to increase the rank of someone who sincerely learns something. Just look around and forget the bounty section.

Yeah, bounty hunting is not a crime on the forum as well as selling of account amongst others but these are not very encouraged characters on the forum. Most times as a bounty hunter, you become so involved in bounties that other aspects to the forum seizes to exist.

Your 5merit history dates back to give aways, thanks to OgNasty, the community award and others. How then do you hope to get to the Sr. Member, Hero and Legendary with over 250, 500 and 1000 merit requirements respectively coupled with the needed activities. Not to mention the tlfact that, the Legendary has a tricky way to determining activity for the rank as, its not definite.

Anyway, you might want to change your ideas towards the forum and do more of discussions than hunting for shit tokens.

Just make some decent posts in your Local or any board you can easily say earn merit points and stay consistent so that will help you in rank up faster, Post Content should need to be useful.

From the user's first post which talked about trust system and the subsequent ones, it's either it's an old user with an alt account, or a new user who has been browsing alot on the forum as a guest.
It doesn't really matter which it is, but my guess would be on the later as a trust scores are not available to guests.

Alt accounts are not against the forum rules and if for whatever reason a user wants to create one, then that's totally fine.

That's okay, forums allow account alt as long as he doesn't abuse it. He seems like an alt but I honestly don't think he should be limited to speaking up and voicing his opinions.

Ironically many users care about the merit system but they don't like reading and try hard to get it. Beginners need to read more than write if they really want to be quality posters. There was no reason to force a rank while their knowledge wasn't good enough, so it had to be worth the effort and knowledge. For a knowledgeable user I think merit will be easy for him as ranking will be guaranteed based on his knowledge and post quality.

I must give credit to a newbie who registered on the forum today, made his first post a few minutes later, and already offering advice on how to earn merits in his second post.

You earn merit by rending solution to peoples problem through your quality post.
Just makes sure your post is worthy to readers.

He has earned 3 merits on Bitcointalk community awards post and rest 2 are by signing the message thread from OgNasty and they are not in past 120 days which we can conclude from his post history that he is bounty hunter not with constructive post.

Altcoin section is messed up with members spamming the whole board with shit posting and there are very less chances of getting merits there so he will have to spread out his post to different boards and yes the main and basic thing is to acquire knowledge for the same what you are going to write in your post which will help you to rank up.

Merits are awarded to you when you share something useful on the forum, exchange of knowledge, helping out members with their doubts or initiating healthy discussion on the forum with good post quality and the content must be on topic.Then you get merits from other members who find it useful and knowledgeable.

But your rank increase solely on the activity and number of merits not the posts you have made on the forum.

Still the same unless you are joining some campaign as junior rank member although I doubt there are any for them these days.The bounty hunters are concerned with spamming social media with the post of project they are promoting in hope to earn some tokens that will not give them anything at the end because once it's over you either don't get tokens but if you have joined some good manager they have funds in their wallets already to pay you but many turns scam.The other thing is they get dumped as soon as they are listed on exchange and you are in loss only.

Merit is simply same like the likes you get on social media platform like Facebook or Twitter when your post amaze or interest the reader.
On like here you get merit for your Quality post.
Rank is gotten by numbers of activities, Post and merit.

There are no category to earn merit. You need to convince others who has spendable merit to send you. Don't ask for it but earn it. When you make good posts which worth to read then you will earn it from members. If you continue posting poof of authentication then you will never earn anything.

Dont define yourself by your objective like that. You are a member of this forum. True that you need to change your posting habits if you wish to increase your rank but calling yourself that name would give the frown to many users here.


You joined the forum back in 2020. The five merits on your account till date are a few earned from signing messages and voting for Bitcointalk Community Awards.

Rest of your post history is for joining campaigns - but you did not get accepted in any of those - right?

This shows that you thought merit was something you get for doing specific tasks and never took the initiative to actually learn how the forum works and how to make posts - 2years later.

Participate in the forum discussions, I am sure this has been said in many threads before this but you guys dont care to read those. Try to get involved and gradually you will earn merits, dont chase after them.

Second rule, read more, post less and sometimes don't post anything if you see you are not able to add valuable posts or answers to a discussion. It's time for you to return to read more.

The first rule of the Merit System is: you do not talk about or ask about the Merit System! 

As others have mentioned, if you spend most of your time posting in the bounty sections, you will never get a chance to increase your rank and advance in the forum. Try writing some actual posts instead.

Your first post on the forum looks like someone who understands how you get merit to rank up. It's hard to explain how someone can sign bitcoin message when you're first getting to know the forum unless you're someone who knows how to use electrum beforehand to sign messages.

I'm not going to tell you much because there are a lot of responses you should read before me. This should be of use to you if indeed you really don't understand. Reduce activity on the bounty board and take more time to study and post something quality. Good luck.

OP, do bounty hunters actually earn any more for having a higher rank?  I know that's true for bitcoin-paying signature campaigns, but as far as I understand it a big part of bounties is spamming social media and not necessarily forum posting (although I know it's a big enough part that it contributes to forum shittiness significantly).

I checked your post history and the only other post I could see besides the one you made here is when you voted in the community awards thread.  Plus your post count is very low in general for someone who registered in 2020.  I have no idea why you're just now asking about how to earn merits, but a general rule is that the more posts you make the better your odds are at earning merits.  If you remain at your current rate of posting, you'll be dead of old age before you'd even reached Full Member rank.

That's assuming this is your only account, which I seriously doubt.

the members above have shared with you on how to get and how much you'll need to reach the ranks you mentioned. I am telling you this if you manage to reach Sr. Member or even a full member I am pretty sure you'll start ignoring the bounty campaigns that give barely anything to nothing, not to mention the possible scam bounty campaign that you might join in.

Given your post history which consists mostly of those "proof of authentication" posts its a miracle that you even managed to get those 5 merits. To even get a chance of a higher rank you should start writing an actual posts outside of altcoin section. Since you opened this thread you did the first step, now just take your time to get yourself familiar with the forum as its so much more than altcoin section.

Merit is a kind of reward. Which everyone gets based on their post quality. And if anyone likes your post.  And if he has Smerit then he can give you merit. It can be of different types.  Because not everyone's choice is the same, everyone's mentality is different. Like someone like meme and you post a good meme then he can give you a merit on your meme post. Or if someone like informative post and you made it then he/she can give you a merit. Merit is actually distributed in this way. Not everyone will give merit in all the posts. If I like a post, someone else may not like it. In that case, even if I give merit in that post, no one else will give it there. This is how the merit cycle works.
