We can't. Let fate take its course. We cannot force people to believe or accept something that they doubt. Only time will make them realize the beauty of adopting Bitcoin or the whole Cryptocurrency system as a currency. Bitcoin, though almost a generation old is still somewhat new to the majority. And so we really can't blame them for being reluctant especially when scam accusations are being spread by the news.

You can not convince people to accept bitcoin because some people really uses bitcoin to scam others. Bitcoin's price is very volatile and it must establish it's price first and must be recognized or recommended by the SEC or somehow promoted by the government. 
I think this is not an easy thing to entrust bitcoin to people. because many people can influence each other. Whereas lately prices are always low, there is a possibility when prices soar so many people are interested in bitcoin investment. Because many people are now very concerned about money rather than science. Current money is very valuable to fulfill his life's needs. Getting to know bitcoin requires a personal desire without any element of coercion, with that they certainly believe that the existence of bitcoin can be used as a new source of search in this modern era.
Personally I don't even believe on this industry I thought it was all scam until I saw some stores and shops that accepting crypto as payment. For me as stores and government consider consider and accepts crypto as payment no doubt they will believe on this industry too. More studies and commercials about crypto to be more realistic for other for them to believe. This is only my opinion and suggestion though. They have their own and personal belief though.

I think people will accept bitcoin only as a currency when government make it legal in our country. Actually there are so many people accept it but they accept it secretly.
It's really hard to make these people accept bitcoin as a currency if they themselves are already reluctant for change or perhaps their minds were already poisoned by the wrong information and negative feedbacks by others. So let them stay where they are because in the right time, they will be enlightened and will regret about their wrong perceptions toward bitcoin.
It is very difficult to encourage people to accept bitcoin as a currency because it is ingrained in bitcoin fraud.
