for those wanting a rebrand without breaking bitcoin. how about rebrand it to 'bits' as in we all start commonly measuring in 100 sat amounts.
1btc=$6500.00
1bit=$0.0065
1.00000000$6500.00(1btc)
0.10000000$650.00
0.01000000$65.00
0.00100000$6.50
0.00010000$0.65
0.00001000$0.065
0.00000100$0.0065(1bit)

that way it becomes a great opportunity for:
1. people to stop measuring things in so many decimals which get annoying
2. it automatically silences the false assumption that 'its not mass-sharable'  debate
3. it automatically silences the false assumption that 'its too expensive' debate
4. it refreshes people mindsets to a new era of bitcoin without actually changing rules
5. people become more comfortable that buying $65 gets them 10,000 units of something rather than 0.01 units of something
6. because it feels like a new era, people can still talk about the past. but have the feeling that its the past and not the present
7. then when 1bit=$1 the 'old schoolers' will see 1btc=$1m and the 'new school' sees the main common unit is only $1 so still cheap

We can try to have a commercial and air it to television. This will surely work since ads like this are already proven to have significant effect on the masses. The problem though is who will fund it.
You right, we can try to change the public mindset that has been doctrinated by the government by using television media, this media works very well but who will pay for advertisements on television? because bitcoin is not a centralization that is owned by someone, so no one will finance it. but we can help by giving education about bitcoin on youtube or blog and it's free right?

Rebranding, like a name change in bitcoin? I think its not advisable to do. Bitcoin is known because of its name. Many will have to adjust and might be confuse about it. Also, a lot of advertising and publicity needed to do this to be able to make it through. Actually, this forum is also one of the fire starter of the bitcoins negative publicity. We cant stop this FUD because people have their own thoughts on bitcoins future and its up to you if you will agree with it or not.

yes, we have to compensate by spreading the benefits of bitcoin to the public, such as making socialization events about digital currencies in general.

joining the community, and always sharing with everyone who doesn't understand bitcoin, especially we have to answer every bad bitcoin statement. don't be quiet and don't give up.

Wink Many tried to rebrand and remake bitcoin into something better, but they only created shitcoins with a few exceptions which are worth something, but really not even close to bitcoin as for a name and influence..

How is that possible to rebrand with bitcoin. Most of the activities in the world of crypto is scripted by the decentralized blockchain technology. Individuals as crypto enthusiasts can only do better by promoting bitcoin in the positive light.

So I am subscribed to quite a few crypto news and general news websites; and one thing that frustrates me to no end is to see such negative publicity of this currency!
And I know most of the people are of the opinion that bitcoin doesn't really need publicity! But I think a little rebranding is very much needed to put bitcoin in the good light.Try to focus on the good things of it, its qualities, maybe it will help it to stabilize or something?
Whats your say on this?
I put in more drops and very not sickly so drop... my target is $100, panic may be lower. Once a target is just going to repurchase. And in the long term-Yes, should show the height, the main thing to have time to buy...

Re branding of bitcoin will do more harm than good as it will create huge confusion in the market. Bitcoin has just started to be recognized and a lot of people are still sceptical about it. At this delicate time, re-branding will create identity confusion among that class of people which can escalate very easily.

Positive marketing efforts are necessary but with the original identity. I don't see any significance of "re-branding" just to stop negative publicity!! There are other ways to spread positivity about anything and it doesn't really require such a drastic overhaul, this is for extreme cases only where some company faces reputation risk due to some internal actions.

"Rebranding" cannot occur until bitcoin starts gaining in price again.  That's the only way the "rebranding" will work for the masses.

It's already gaining value again. Did you see the charts on Monday?

Rebranding will never work. There are many reasons for that.
-people don't want it
-you won't be able to reach a consensus
-It's not needed and wouldn't change anything. Most of the world would know that this new coin called digital gold or whatever is bitcoin. You wouldn't fool anyone.
-It would only give altcoins that want to be Bitcoin like BCH what they want: more confusion that would allow them to make people think they're buying the real Bitcoin when they're investing in their altcoin.

Everything that is good always has some enemies. And they spreads some bad news about it and we all know the bad news attracts people easily and they starts to react accordingly. That's what happens to every good things and it's very hard to reverse, and when the Government and the banks are against it then you know what happens, they influences people more about the negativity. So it becomes more harder until the government recognizes it and allows it with some rules. Or you can't stop the negative publicity because the governments are helping the publishers.

It's very difficult to create positive advertising for the product that has created bad advertising for itself. If bitcoin hadn't jumped high at the end of 2017 and if it hadn't fallen in 2018, there would have been no bad publicity. I think everything will fall into place, and the crypt will say a weighty word in its defense.

The price volatility you are talking about is not problem. Because bitcoin is regulated yet. After regulations that can be changed. We should focus on the technology and the benefits of a decentralized system.

You can never stop people from having their opinions and seriously there is nothing in the world that you won't find a group of people having to say negative things about it. Bitcoin will come out stronger irrespective of the negative publicity.

Mostly those people who are spreading the FUD and negativity about bitcoin are those people who are involve in different technology. They want their own coin to be recognized not bitcoin. Some are skeptics who doesn't believe in the technology and know nothing about it.

We can't stop those negative publicity about bitcoin but we can help promote the advantages and benefits that it can offer us. This technology is still so young and when the right time comes that bitcoin will be stable that's the time the skeptics will regret everything they say about this awesome technology.

In my personal opinion rebranding is not necessary, and even if it's done it'll not have the desired impact you're trying to achieve. These people who like to spread fud will never stop, they'll continue to spread fud and even will use the rebranded news to create more panic, if you're observing closely every time there's a slight dip in the prices there's a eye catching headline millions wiped out in minutes which is false most of the times. It's best to ignore such sites and simply focus on the good qualities of bitcoins.

There's nothing we can do but show the bright side of bitcoin which I think the block chain world summit are one of the best way to do that. However, I strongly believe some banking sectors and selfish government are responsible for all this negative news been said about bitcoin.

Rebranding isn't going to change anything, I think bitcoin has a far better image than it did a few years ago, it still gets a bad name when they put it alongside crime in the headlines but I think overall it is in far better shape.

We now see a lot of companies and finance such as the recent Fidelity news taking an interest.
Imagine what will happen once it really takes off.
