If you don't find any other ways of earning money and if you are depending only on gambling for making money or for living then that is the stage when you should understand that you are addicted to gambling as you will always find shortcuts to earn money as you don't have any other way to earn money.
Pretty easy. They usually are spending lot of time on gambling and daily activities are based on it, they see gambling as main source of money income, they are feeling great amount of joy, like adrenaline rush when are winning, trying to regain cash when have bad day or bad days and not just with their bankroll but taking loans for that cause... Those are some basic symptoms of person that is addicted on gambling.
Very simple I think. When you can not stop gambling when you contantly lose money and when you try to win this money back not matter what it costs. And if you risk things that will destroy your life. Once I read a story of a family father who started to gamble with small amounts. It ended that he lend the house and all the family savings to be able to continuing gambling after he had a unluck streak. He lost all. House, savings and family. He did suicide later.
Addiction is a whole different level than trying to recover your losses. If someone is addicted, he will be coming back for gambling even if he has won a good amount in it. When somebody is suffering from addiction, he does not care about his destruction as the person is totally out of his control. How can you determine whether you are addicted to gambling?

So if you're nose deep into it in an attempt to recover what your friend made you loose then you don't need us to tell you that you're addicted or perhaps you're in the state of getting addicted.

The thing is that the one's who are addicted never seem to realize how deep they are in unless it too late, they have the excuse that they can quit whenever they want but they don't, I think its up to family and friends to show them how addicted they are to gambling and it goes for most addictions. Determing about yourself isn't hard suddenly you will feel that you want to gamble and you get a feeling from inside that you are in luck and you are sure that you are gonna win and when you win you forget you are in profit and you can exit now but instead you think of your loss and continue to gamble and lose
How can you determine whether you are addicted to gambling?
For me, the problem become mental/addicted when you are thinking about gambling or future/past result of your bets even when you are off the gambling venue.
For example you are having family time but your mind is on gambling wave - this is a problem, you are addicted and you need help. Or if you blow away money you wan't afford to lose.
One thing is if you stop gambling you will feel a withdrawal effect. Anxiety, stress and the longing to gamble more. Another thing is that you gamble till you drop and keep on coming back even if you do not have fund. You will sell your belonging take a loan even do nasty thing just to have money for gambling sake. Another way is to check if you are still in control of yourself when you are gambling.
I was addicted to gambling in the past as I used to eagerly wait for my signature campaign payments and as soon as it used to get reflected in my bitcoin wallet it would take no time for me to go to gambling sites and start gambling and at that time I realized that I am addicted to gambling but slowly and steadily I changed my habit and now I never gamble with my money which is actually helping me in saving my bitcoins for future.

There are lots of threads or users who do ask this kind of question all over again and again but to answer this one you can just simply know that you are already addicted to gambling is when you are already playing for longer periods and you are already wasting up money on engaging with it and also you are forgetting your responsibilities and priorities in life.

Very simple, you can determinate it when you play everyday, when you win a big sum and cant stop, when you spend your salary thinking that you can win
