So far, at the insistence of the government, China's three major crypto-exchange exchanges have announced the suspension of bitcoin trade for their citizens since September 30 and October this year. Also suspended ICO. However, there were no prohibitions on activities with crypto currency. If in their country they can not participate in the ICO, you can temporarily leave for this purpose to other countries, such as Hong Kong, which is already done by many Chinese people trading crypto currency on the Hong Kong stock exchanges.

I'd say right now it's fairly hard. I'm sure some bigger investors can use offshore companies or businesspartners, but most smaller average people can't. Most investors in china are people that invest in something 'because someone they know did it', meaning that they have no clue what type of investment they make (similar to how people pick a savings plan from the bank, they do it because they're getting told to do so). Anyway, once regulations are in place the Chinese people will either be allowed to legally invest again, or they won't. Either way cryptocurrency will keep going, this train can't be stopped, especially not by a country that still uses wooden stick as cutlery

Hi,

is there a way how Chinese citizens still can invest in ICOs?

I mean if it is possible to buy drugs anonymously with Bitcoin, it should be doable to buy tokens as well...

If you use a coin mixer you can buy the coins and get them to a wallet. But I believe it is hard for Chinese because of the KYC policies to sell that on an exchange, right?

Are there any companies/funds/trusts that hold ICOs on behalf of Chinese clients and can liquidate them on demand? In the next step, they would transfer fiat currency back to China to pay the ICO investor.

Is there something like that? I am sure someone will come up with anything that works...

Please share your thoughts.

It is not impossible to do but i can surely say that it isn't that easy because the law would then be your greatest enemy. Which is held by the government and the banks of china. And I don't think any profit you can get from investing illegally into icos would be worth your free life. But if you really wanna risk it, you can use vpns or just travel into other countries.

The Chinese (or any other) government can\t ban you from buying ICOs with crypto currencies. The problem starts when you want to buy ICO/crypto with fiat money.

I think the ban is covering only ICOs that will be held in china. It does not cover other ICOs that are not happening in china. And because there is internet there, I guess the chinese can still invest in ICOs through sites that are hopefully not banned in this country. ICOs are offered in different ICO sites and the websites of the projects themselves. They might still find a way out of this.

I initially thought that ICO ban refers to all ICOs and that all the Chinese citizens would have restricted access. From what I heard, China's internet is very regulated to the point that you can't even use google because China has their own google. With the huge number of crypto and bitcoin users in China, surely they would find a way to invest in ICOs despite the ban. If the government refuses to make any changes on their regulations and ICO ban, then VPNs would come to the rescue.

the chinese ban the ICOs in their country. So if the chinese want to invest in the ICOs their can still buy the ICOs outside of their country.

That's good to hear for non-Chinese ICOs or token sales.

VPN solves things.. nobody needs identification documents to invest in an ICO.. just an Ethereum address in most cases and a VPN to view the webpage, or via telegram someone can get this information.

is there a link to the actual release of the central bank of china where the ban ICOs(in English)?

I would also love to read more about the restrictions for Bitcoin use in China. If you have few links, please post them, I did not find them.

Are you sure that Chinese are only not allowed to invest in Chinese ICOs? I believe they are not allowed to invest generally in ICOs...

What about the rumors that it is punished with the death penalty? Are they true?

If I have correct image, ICos and trading fiat/crypto are prohibited under the jurisdiction of China only. So, if chinese wants to invest in ICO and he has some crypto(or he could buy it illegal obv), he still can.
Also, if chinese teams want to run their own ICOs, they could provide it under other jurisdiction (Singapore etc)

Perfect answer. This Chinese ban thing mean nothing.

Bitcoin has been ban before in China but still there people manage to get some and stake with it and join this industry, and those ban implemented will just be bypass by those chinese crypto enthusiast since crypto's are one of there business I think and there making a lot of money from it.

driving over the speed limit is not legal but people do it anyways. they can always do illegal stuff if they are willing to face the consequences and they will find a way of doing it.

it has never been possible to buy drugs anonymously with bitcoin.
you can always buy drugs with bitcoin though but it won't be anonymous and it has never been.

the question you are not asking is "why should they even bother investing in ICOs?" it is not like ICO is the best investment or the most honest one!
everyone knows how scamy and shady most of them are and what Chinese did is to protect their citizens against these scammers. now you want a workaround to go give the scammers your money, willingly!!!

You bet they still can, just use VPN. The Chinese are good with this VPN thing.
This Chinese ICO ban thing mean nothing, just more opportunity for the whales to double their Bitcoin.

you can pretend that you were not chinese, so that you can bypassing the Chinese government's ban which just like using a VPN.

Problem comes when you need to submit government issued documents.
You cannot pretend to be someone else without fake documents, and using or obtaining fake ID documents is a felony, so we strongly advise against it!

is there a way how Chinese citizens still can invest in ICOs?

Yes. We are offering a brokerage service for citizens from any country, so they can also participate/invest in upcoming ICO's.
Visit our website http://icobroker.trade/ for more details.
Otherwise contact us via e-mail icobrokerprotonmail.ch or write PM.

This is actually a very interesting solution.
Beyond this, I guess with some VPN solution people can easily bypass some local restrictions...
