Made this guide: www.bitcoinUK.blogspot.com

So far the cheapest way that I found to buy btc from UK..

Hope it helps.

So lets sat I start with £1000 in my UK bank account and I go through this process. How much of that £1000 will actually be spent on bitcoins and how much will be swallowed up by various middlemen and their fees?

Hope it helped.

There is talk about people sending GBP directly to bitstamp but untill I have done this personally I wouldnt really like to give out advice on it Wink

Plus, from what I can recall international wire transfers normally take a bit longer than the EU SEPA variety.

He speaks the truth. Followed this process and all worked well, seems like the best, ok not the easiest if you aren't familiar with the sites but best and most economic way of doing it right now from GBP.

With a UK debit card you can do this:

Simply sign up to transferwise: http://transferwise.com/u/f0bd

Open bitstamp

Click SEPA deposit on bitstamp page to get payment/banking information

Back to transferwise and input the details from bitstamp by pressing the "make a payment"

Upload your funds to transferwise by debit card or bank transfer and when they get that payment, the will then send it on to bitstamp as a SEPA payment.

24-72 hours later your bitstamp account should be credited and ready to buy bitcoin

Go here
https://blockchain.info/wallet/

To blockchain website. Register for an e wallet click on the UK flag and do a transfer direct from your bank. This took me months to figure out and I haven't found any other way.

GL
it says they limit you to £100 per week (increased to £1000 after a few weeks) and charge 4-6% fee.
this doesn't seem practical.
you also appear to need a mobile phone? which i do not have (don't ask).

Whats not practical

You could also do local trades, (be careful though, try and meet in a cafe or something, not some shady corner)

I have found that Coinbase.com is the best site if you can wait a few days.  They recently stopped allowing you to purchase them at the current rate though.  Now you are provided coins based on teh value when the tranfer clears.  Kind of risky since you really have no idea what will happen to the price over the course of 4 days.

If you need them now I would suggest bitinstant.com.  Overall it costs about 10% in fees but it is processed in under an hour generally.  No more than 24 hours.

try bchanger.com

buying buy pp usually wouldnt be advisable but this site has a few reputable sellers and all sales have to use full escrow. Just pick a seller with lots of feedback, ive never had any problems with it. Smiley
