Hello mate, I don't think making a change of username doesn't matter in this forum because whatever you choose to bear as a username, nobody will ask you that your username does not deserve here. Accept if you create an account with a similar username, like now if the username already exists in this forum.

Because I had encountered the same problem with my first account. my username was similar to others user, and I asked questions about it either I could change it, and many members here advised that I should not stress myself out about changing my name. The only person who can modify it for me is the forum administrator, and it takes a while to be change. So my advice to you, mate, is that if you don't like your current username, just go and create a new account since you haven't gone far; the earlier is better.

Since you are a newbie with just a few posts, just create a new account with the desired user name and abandon the old one (so that it does not become multi-accounting).

I doubt that administrators will change a username of a newbie unless there is sensitive information contained in it such as their real name.

As an ordinary users here in our community we can not change our own username or let say display name and only admin can do that but if you want to change your name you can leave a private message to our admin theymos but I don't think that you will be given a chance but just give a try. You have zero chance of changing your username and if I were you, I will just forget about this my current account and act as if I never had it. Next is to go and create a new account your your preferred name and this time make sure you have finalize with the name you want to use, if not it will be a waste of time for you to be jumping from one account to the other.

Register a new account and ride on, after all your account don't have any reputation nor merits, so it is very easy to start all over again. On the other hand you feel you are not cool with our suggestions, then you can write to theymos and try your luck but you have to wait for a long time that is if your request will be granted. It's your choice to decide.

I'm aware that a lot of members have changed their names here on the forum, and some more than once's a member like Cryptovator; if not up to three times now, they all got approved.

When I said it wouldn't be approved, I was referring to the OP, not even giving him high hopes. This is because many people have complained that their request was not fulfilled and their name was not able to be changed. These people were newbies and others who had not yet built a reputation on the forum. Secondly, they did not give a tangible reason for why the name needed to be changed.

I doubt an account that has zero merit and a newbie rank will be in a hurry to ask for a name change, and I don't see it standing any chance of getting that request approved. That's why I never give the OP high hopes of applying; creating another account with the OP's desired username is just the best option I can see for the Op; there is no harm in trying, so he can still give it a try too and see what comes out of the result.

The account has no merit and just only 25 posts are yet posted with the account, leaving the account and create new one is better. But if he starts to be active and posting in a good way, theymos will later change the username for him. Why not try and apply and see it not approved than not trying at all. If I can remember correctly, people that asked theymos to change their name, theymos changed it last year December for many of them. checking your post history, Porfirii is correct, you'd be better off just creating a new account and then putting the username that you want on it. if the account you are currently using is somewhat sentimental to you and want your new account(if you created one) to be somewhat connected to the account you are currently using, you can simply leave feedback saying that this account is yours.

Change username or display name is not easy and you only can get that change if you are a VIP member (with 50 BTC donation) that you are not or you get acceptance from theymos.

But you have to request it from the forum administrator, theymos. You can send him a PM with your new display name and clearly state your reasons.

Yes a newbie best shot is to just abandon the account and create a new, i remember The Sceptical Chymist having a name change but even for someone of his caliber on the forum it took him a very long time before getting that name changed and also I had also read about Igebotz change too, and according to him, his didn’t take a long time to get the change. One thing I deduced is, if it is concerning you running a forum business or about a company reputation then it gets change easily and also you might find it difficult to get a change if the new requested name has Almost a similar name already existing on the forum. For newbie, they don’t just stand a chance base on this facts

Op, you have little or no chance to change your display name, only one person I have seen done that based on the little time I have spent in this forum is "The Sceptical Chymist" and according to him, it took a very long period of time to get that approved by Theymos and name changed for him. Your reason for the change of name must be a considerable one when requesting @Admins, and if at all that would ever be granted.

If you really need the username that bad then just go an create a new account with your preferred username because you don’t that much posts and your account rank is still newbie.

But if you want this account then just write to theymos the last request I noticed was from a newbie account who used their real name; so you can also use that same format if indeed you used your real name and what to change it for security reasons.

If you searched beforehand you could easily find lot of similar threads on the same topic and it's not possible to change the username on your own unless you ask @theymos to do it and there are less chances he will accept the request.

You can't change your username/name on Bitcointalk forum. I don't think so the name matters on this forum, it's the personality and the input from you to the community that matters.
I would suggest not messaging any moderator or Admin to change your name as it's not possible. And no need to make another account too, your current username is fine (though I can't make out what it means).
