op Think of the future as you create advanced posts with your own knowledge. Because you will definitely earn merit if you post your high quality posts and quality and informative posts. Because the more knowledgeable you are, the more progress you can make. Knowledge helps people to rise to the top so you quickly get busy acquiring knowledge and manifesting it.

Well the main reason why I’d like to earn merit is because I have to wait 360 seconds just to reply + post a topic. Kind of annoying, and the only way to fix that from what I’ve read is to earn more merit.

One merit will be enough for you to get rid of this headache. You need at least 30 activity for it. If you do quality post, I hope you will get one merit soon. BTW why you need to post with under six minutes. Honestly I need more than 5 minutes to write a short one paragraph reply.

If you can sign PGP encryption then try to sign here and you will get 1 merit.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5461523.20

Thank you for replying to this though, gives me a bit more understanding and one more question, to search up a question, do I have to click on the topic that’s for the question that I am looking for? Or am I able to just search it up?

Hello, new bitcointalk user, been around on this site for around a year or so, just never decided to create an account. I’ve seen people with tons of merit! But yet I have not a single clue on how to gain any, whilst people have thousands! Pretty much a newbie when it comes to posting Tongue. But any help works, thank y’all!
Merit will come to you after you start to focus on making posts that are useful for users on this forum and you will start to focus on making good posts when you start to calm your mind about how to get Merit quickly. It is better for you to enjoy your learning process in extracting insights and sharing any insights you have gained with users who need these insights in this forum. Because that's how discussions work. Namely in helping solve problems and providing each other with solutions and insights.

And actually, several tips to make it easier to get Merit have been shared a lot on this forum, especially in the Beginner and Help sections. Even MS has created a thread about these tips. Or you can search for users who have a lot of Merits, even above 10k Merits. And try to pay attention to how they make posts. And look at the topics they create. Study it and I'm sure it will work.

I’m not aware of what the rules are, like I said, I’m new. I didn’t know that creating a bunch of threads could get me banned? (if that’s what you were trying to tell me) I am just trying to have a few conversations going in stuff that I’m interested in, which is why I’ve created multiple threads. I’m sure when you first joined this site, you were curious on how stuff works, just as I am, but I’ll be sure to check out the rules, guess that’s what I should’ve done in the first place. And just so you know, I’m not just here for Merit, I don’t even know what its for, I was just trying to gain knowledge on how people have so much and how it works/how to gain it.
That is why you the first thing to do after joining any forum you should go through the forum rules before you start engaging in the forum.
For simplicity, the forum has already pined all the necessary information you will need as a beginner or a new person in the forum or community; therefore, make sure you check and read all pin threads in any section you visit in this forum, so that you can get clue of what exactly the section is all about.

Once again, welcome to this wonderful and amazing forum, I believe the response you have gotten is enough and has explained everything you need to know.

Merit is a reward for you quality contributions you give in this forum, if you are active, and you have been given quality contributions the forum, you will earn merits from different users.

You already answered your own question OP on how to earn or get merited and that is by posting here in the forum. The question you should be asking right now is how to create a good or high quality posts is because it is what many forum member prefer to send their smerits rather than sending it to a spam, low quality, off-topic or useless posts that doesn't contribute anything to the forum. In order to be able to do that is to become knowledgeable first until you can create your own good posts. To be honest, many forum members have ask the same question as you have many times and answered many times.

Op if you have known forum for a year now or being around the forum for a year i doubt if you will still be a newbie according to your profile, you shouldn't be more curious to know how merits is gotten rather you should be more serious about developing your knowledge of cryptocurrency more since  it will help you to share some useful information and ideas that will be beneficial to the community and members here and at the end you will be appreciated with with that which you seek now.

Focus more on building knowledge which will be helpful to you now and in future, read threads of other members here here instead of creating threads that has been discussed several times here, ask relevant questions on the things you do not understand so that other members can respond to you and providings or solutions that will help to guide you. You can also give yourself time to make research and read cryptocurrency related materials I believe it will help you to grow in knowledge and in return merits will come when you have applied to work all you have learnt, every member you see here having tons of merits didn't get there overnight they were patient and they worked to receive it so you to should read, learn and get ready to make quality posts if you desire to have tons of merit like them.

As a newbie, I should say that one should not focus on earning merits in the first place. What you should do more is to gain unlimited ideas while exploring the forum so you can be knowledgeable just like those people who consistently gain merits because of their wide knowledge in different topics. If your goal is to earn tons of merits just like them, then be like them. Learn a lot and experience a lot so you can have something valuable to share in the forum that will make other members to benefit from your varied posts.

Earning merits is not the goal why we engage in the forum, but it's to establish our concrete knowledge and develop our skills through wide opportunities that this forum may provide for us.

Other people have tons of merits because they worked for it as merits do not earned instantly but will only be given to those who deserve to be given. But for newbies like you, just do your best so you can can understand the market well by taking most of your time studying and even perform researches if needed. The market and the forum itself  will surely be tough and hard to understand in the beginning, but with due diligence to learn and most importantly, enjoy what you are doing, you will easily absorb the important insights and ideas that the forum has to offer.

Have patience while continuously learning the forum. Getting merits will be easier for you in the later part if you become knowledgeable in most of the topics that will be discussed in the forum.

Were you pushed to create an account just because of the tonnes of merit you saw in other people’s accounts? Why did you even decide to join the forum? The tonnes of merits that you see in people’s profiles, you can also get them,  just make sure you start making meaningful contributions to the forum here. If you are interested in learning about bitcoin, you are at the right place. You can ask any question if you don’t get anything right, and if you see any post and you have any meaningful contribution to make, then you can do that. That’s the only way I know that you can get merit, if you think there is any quick way to get merit, then you are wrong. People with tonnes of merits in their profiles really worked for it, so you can do it too.

Have you compared your posts and their posts (people who gets tons of merits)?
You need to learn first how people get merits, don't just asking it without understanding something. Before you created this post, you have your own opinion about this case at least.

FYI, people only could earn merits if they created something valuable. I've checked your post history, you need to improve your post quality and your knowledge first, so you can contribute something valuable. Examples of valuable things: sharing important news, helping people's problems, and fighting scammers or spammers. Have you done one of these things? If you never did this, how you can assume you deserve for merits, mate.  Huh

You can earn merit by making informative posts, good replays, and informative topics.

Where on earth could a newbie with the intention of making merits have time to work to that extent of giving their best in making a quality post when all they could is chasing after earning merits, this forum is meant for nothing than bitcoin discussions, merits was introduced to chase away the spammers, reduce them and confine them to a particular area in other to restrict them from ranking up, a newbie indeed should have the mind of learning first and not earning.

Your account is still not up to a week on the forum. I don’t know how you said you have been here for around a year now, but if that is true, you are supposed to be aware of how merit systems work and are not good at begging for merit. You create meaningful and educative content, and the forum members will appreciate your contribution by meriting your post. People you see with thousands of merits did not beg for a single one of them; they worked for it, so even you too, that is the only way you can earn merit. Merit is not hard to earn; just know what to do, and merit will come naturally.

You have joined the forum for a week and you must be patient. However, if you engage in discussions, provide thoughtful insights, and provide valuable information to the community, your chances of merit will increase. It's not about the quantity of your posts, but the quality and value you provide to the forum. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the forum guidelines and observe how experienced members communicate and contribute. This will help you better understand what constitutes a quality post and how to effectively participate in the community. Remember, building a good reputation and earning qualifications takes time and effort. This is not something that can be achieved overnight. Hope you continue with patience and you will succeed.

Of course, think about the posts you need and want.  Because if you make unnecessary posts in this forum, the moderators will delete them, so if someone needs to, they will not delete those posts. With these things Merit rank up system is very nice because it is very difficult for newbies to rank up in this bitcoin forum. But those who are wise among them gain merit quickly and are promoted. Thank you also take the necessary steps to become wiser.

Welcome! If you want to earn merits, you should acquire enough experience to enable yourself to make valuable contributions on boards and specialties that match your expertise. You can contribute and reduce your need to ask for answers to your questions. Also, these types of topics indicate that, throughout the year you spent in the forum, you did not familiarize yourself with many questions about the basics of the forum. Therefore, the difference is not in the time you have been around here but in what you have offered and gained in terms of experience to enrich the content and help others.

Good luck in your journey, and don't forget that there is a search box at the top that you can use to search for your questions and topics that have been previously answered without repeating topics.

You can earn merit by making informative posts, good replays, and informative topics. Posting like this will not be necessary to earn merit. Your wise post will help you earn merit. I want to tell you that if you give enough time you can earn merit like others and attain higher positions. You can also try to remember those who are consistently posting good informative posts and gain knowledge from their posts. Go ahead with good creative thinking hope you too can do something good sometime and your hope will be fulfilled.

The fact that you have been in this forum for around a year should be an added advantage to you. An added advantage in the sense that even though you are a newbie, I am assuming you used your one year here well by observing how things are done and doing a whole lot of learning.  Everything here revolves around hardwork, once you are hardworking and consistently contribute to the forum by making quality and educative posts and replies,  merits will come. This will reflect in your level of activity.

Those people you see here who have tons of merits didn't get them overnight, It took them years of hardwork to get there. You are new here, start working and you will see the reward. I must warn that you should never be tempted to beg for merits,  work for it! Welcome to the forum.

If you have been a year in this site, then you must know already that earning merits is not easily gained, but only given to those who are deserving. Take your time to study the forum first, and be as knowledgeable as you can be. Explore the forum and read all the topics that interest you. That is one way to maximize your learning in this forum.

However, getting merits is another story. You will only achieve it when you're capable already on your task. And by creating high quality posts that attract other members, then it will be easier to give their merits to you once they are starting to see value in your posts.

My only advise is just do your diligent study in the forum and you will learn a lot in time. When you have gained adequate knowledge that you can share to everyone, then probably that time it will be easier for you to receive merits since you're now able to create meaningful and quality posts that every member can benefit from it. Learning takes time, so you also need to take your time learning and understanding the forum most especially bitcoin and the crypto market since the whole thing about this forum focuses on bitcoin.

You created your account on December 13th and you have made total 21 posts in your account out of which two are on Lending board, multiple posts are on Alternate cryptocurrencies and some posts you have read in economic section but they are very short. To earn merit through posts you must post constructively. When your posts are constructive you will see that you can earn merit from your posts. There is a lot to learn since you just created your account. You have to know a lot about the forum and about the different sections when you know about those topics you can create good quality posts about specific topics. But to make good quality post you need to know first so keep learning and bring that knowledge here hope you will definitely qualify.

If you’ve been around for over a year even as a guest and you’ve been reading the threads posted here on, then you must have hpt more than enough clue to earn you just enough merit to be at least a Full member. That’s just one of the possibilities even though your only just creating your account, the knowledge would have been there.

Don’t mind me coming at you this way, I’m just going by what you’ve stated in OP and with the fact that, there have been tons of this sort of thread in the past, not like I don’t wish or have hopes of seeing this sort of thread, of course it’s normal but, having the impression that it’s just been used to troll is what makes it a bad idea and that’s what I feel your doing with this post.

I would like to welcome all new forum members. But you must have patience and read forum threads to understand forum cultures. Creating merit threads by newbies is really not appreciated here since you are too lazy to read and search. You may simply use the forum search button in case you need to know something. A ton of merit discussion threads have been created here, and you may learn from them instead of just creating new threads. You have to improve yourself on the forum. It's not necessary to reply to every thread, and you don't need to make a faster reply as well. Develop yourself and contribute to the forum. Merit would come based on your contribution.

Have you been paying attention to this forum for more than a year? how could that be! Are you just visiting this forum as a guest?

there are many beginners who ask this, how to get merit and merit but only a few of the beginners want to listen to the advice given by senior members on this forum.  i just add a little that getting merit is not that difficult when you are able to make posts (can be in the form of new topics or just reply messages) that are of high quality and that are really helpful, it's impossible for you to get merit if the posts you make are off topic and hit by spam, so the thing you have to pay attention to is the literacy of your writing, keep upgrading your insight and be patient.

Well the main reason why I’d like to earn merit is because I have to wait 360 seconds just to reply + post a topic. Kind of annoying, and the only way to fix that from what I’ve read is to earn more merit. <…>
Just to emphasize that the correct answer to the above quote was provided by SquirrelJulietGarden. Merits do not shorten the waiting time between posts in any way, but rather the only parameter that does is Activity, as depicted in the said answer. Merits primarily contribute towards Rank alongside Activity, being the former normally more difficult to increment than the latter in general terms.

One more thing to consider is that the wait time between posts is also influenced by other things you may do on the forum. I can’t recall the complete list, but one of the main ones is performing a search: when you search, the wait time applies to both the amount of time you need to wait to perform another search, and the amount of time you need to wait to create a post.

Wow, 😲 you are speculating this forum for over a year and now you think of creating the account. i mean that's seem dumb because what benefit in spending 1 year in just speculating the forum while the real fun was in creating account and engaging with daily discussion. Well, I will not ask what kept you intact with this forum while you had no interaction with it.

The answer to your question is really easy. Which is you will earn as much merits as much you will contribute to this forum. Contribution in the form of making useful topics and helping others. The more you contribute the more merits you can get. I said can because it is not sure that you will get merits or not. Because you might be thinking this topic would be of any contribution to the forum but you are not getting any merits on that. Its because that topic might not be of contribution for those who have already read it hundred times.

By contributing, you earn merit(s). If your post is good, you get 1 merit. If your post is great, people might give you multiple number of merit.
You just do not ask for it. That's how it works. Just keep posting good content, keep people up-to-date and entertained and you will make it.

You mentioned that you have been around this forum for over a year. If that is the case, then you should have been aware of the required contributions to the forum in order to receive merit, and you should have obtained more information about this forum. I'm still surprised that you ask for guidance. You're welcome, and based on your question, anyone asking a question will know where to go right away. However, getting merit requires knowledge of the guidelines provided by the forum, doing good research about bitcoin, and the creation of a good quality post. If you continue in doing these things, I don't think you will find any merit at all, merit will come to you. If your post is good enough to gain merit, you will, but, people who have thousands of merit didn't get it in a day, their hard work and contribution to the forum's outcome are what got them those points.

Frankly, I understand that beginners may ask about anything in the forum, and I may do that if I join a new forum, but some things can be found with a Google search, and how to earn merits has been discussed at least hundreds of times, so creating such topics will not help you collect more.
lock this topic, create at least 30 posts, do not spam, and if you do not get merits, make a link to your best posts in the merit sources topics.

If your reason for being on this forum is all about earning merits I don't think you will do very good on here because the reason why this forum was created is to help beginners like you to understand more about crypto and the blockchain system, you need to spend your time on learning as a newbie I expect someone like you to start creating some topics about things you don't understand or start asking questions about some things you want to know in crypto space.

If one of your question is good enough someone can send you merits,. You can also earn merit by helping people out on this forum, all you have to do is engage in different discussions and try to solve some problems  that some other people are having but I don't expect such thing from a newbie anyway because you don't have the knowledge at all, you can't help people, you are the one that need help to acquire some crypto knowledge.

Ask yourself why you are on this forum, and start working on it, ask questions, engage in discussions, keep learning more about the block chain, I believe there are many things you don't know about crypto right now.

You must be patient if you want to make progress in this forum. You can't become great overnight if you haven't gone through some procedures to get there. You have not received any merit because you have not made any posts that any member has deemed worthy of merit. Take a look at those who have been merited, and look at their pattern of posts to see how they earned those merits; you can learn from them and improve yourself through the posts you make in this forum.
Just like you have explained, patience and consistency is one of the key to earning merits as a member of this community. We don't have to rush things because we want to grow quickly as start making money. Even with the merit system, there are some campaigns that don't care about merits when applying for them. This is more of a quality posts and the way we structure our posts. There are few managers that based there acceptance of signature campaigners on merits but still some that wouldn't care if you have large bunch of merits. You need to be a quality posters before you are accepted into the campaign.

The time you have spent here for more than a year is wasted if after creating an account you are still throwing questions like this on the forum. The merit system is not moderated directly by the forum, you can get it if the posts you make are considered quality by other users. Looks like you should spend more time on forums to learn this simple thing.
Merit is not to be chased, but will come to you if you are able to produce quality posts. Study all the topics that successfully invite merit, you will better understand how the merit system works.

There's a lot of threads similar like this and for sure you can't get that merits if you keep asking this question without doing any research so its best for starter like you to research first before asking some obvious question. This could make you a little smarter to ask more important question rather than asking on how to earn a merit which is already been ask by other and now its up for you to read so you can learn from the words posted by people in this forum.

Imagine you are here for a year but still you didn't learn anything so much better if you put some effort to research since this is more helpful to you rather than being lazy around or try to seek those people who will spoon feed you with the information's you want to know.

OP, you must understand that people here are used to seeing such topics, and this raises a lot of questions among users since many new people do not know how to look for answers on their own. But no one will ban you for creating several topics. We would just like to see something unique since your question is answered regularly.
And yes, you are not here for the sake of merit, but there is another reason why you most likely decided to register on the forum.
Your first post on the forum is a request for a loan. But since you are a newbie and have no reputation, you will always be denied credit.
Will you still be interested in the forum after this comment?

You said you've been here for about a year or so before deciding to create an account, so what do you find here during that time period if you still ask this simple question here. I hope you don't miss this Thread [1], this [2] and this [3].
Study all the descriptions in the thread to increase your insight while in the forum and learn more about how to get Merits. At first it's a little confusing, but you have to dare to do something new to contribute to the forum by producing quality posts. Merit is not something that is difficult to obtain, develop the abilities you have to achieve your goals.

Just ensure you dedicate your strength and effort of learning those things that are related to cryptocurrency, so that you can acquire knowledge of cryptocurrency and it can improve your quality post in the bitcointalk.org which is the best way for newbies to earn merits in the platform. Those legendary and hero members you saw with huge amount of merits in the platform took their time to study so many things that related to cryptocurrency before they were able to achieved a potential skills that made them to become a professional in the platform and to be in such position today.

Just be patience, I think you will surely get there when your time come because there are some rules and regulations that governed the merits source in the platform and if you are in a hurry to rank up to member or full member rank it can lead you to bad situation that will make you to be ban from the platform once you disobey the rules that deserve the punishment.

Well the main reason why I’d like to earn merit is because I have to wait 360 seconds just to reply + post a topic. Kind of annoying, and the only way to fix that from what I’ve read is to earn more merit. Thank you for replying to this though, gives me a bit more understanding and one more question, to search up a question, do I have to click on the topic that’s for the question that I am looking for? Or am I able to just search it up?
The limit will be lesser when you have more than 14 posts and 14 activity points even you don't get any merit to rank up to Jr. member, you will be able to make a post with a waiting time less than 360 seconds. It will become about 60 seconds between two posts that is enough for you to write a post and post it.

If  your post is not spam, I think compose it in 30 or 60 seconds is possible so the waiting time (60 seconds) is not a big problem. You need 4 more posts to get to that more friendly waiting time.

What are the time limits on posting and the levels??
I know 360 seconds are for new people like me, but was wondering if there was break down somewhere on this.

Code:
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);

FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit.

I’m not aware of what the rules are, like I said, I’m new. I didn’t know that creating a bunch of threads could get me banned?

How about you starting from the rules[1]? Since you don’t know the rules of the forum despite stating that lurking around the forum for a long time.

I’m not just here for Merit, I don’t even know what its for, I was just trying to gain knowledge on how people have so much and how it works/how to gain it.

If you don’t know how it works then how did you know that earning some will reduce your waiting time before you can make a comment? In just a week of you creating an account you have made two loans request and one has already been rejected (and we also know what the outcome of the second one will be though). If you want to be part of the community be a part of it, don’t scam or make up stories to get loans that you won’t pay back.

I think Rome  was not built a day, those who you saw with tons of merit did not get those merit by a platter of gold, but by hard work and consistency before they could achieve that. I also ask myself such question when i came new. But now I have learnt that for you to succeed in this forum you must develop the habit of reading to know how to make quality post that will earn merits. Because merits will come when you engage in more serious discussion than only asking question.

But how fast are you to read through the post and want to reply within a few restricted seconds? Or is it about creating new threads just like you did after creating this one?

Any way, with a copper member, your waiting time will be reduced, and it's almost or even equal to a member rank by some limit, if I'm correct. Just so you know, being a Copper member does not give you immunity from getting banned if you violate any of the forum rules, and the money paid is not refundable.

Welcome to the forum. Merits are like the reward you get for contributing meaningfully to the forum. Members will give merits to your post if they find it helpful or if it assists them in certain ways. Quality posts that answer questions, ask relevant question, and is creative or innovative will always attract merits. For now, your focus shouldn't be on how to earn merits because you have not learned much about Bitcoin and the forum. If your knowledge about Bitcoin and the forum increases, I can assure you that you will earn some merits.

Most newbies who focus first on earning merit become discouraged if they don't get it and it could be frustrating which could lead to leaving the forum. So if you want to enjoy the forum, give more attention to learning and less to merit and you will gradually gain them because of your positive contribution to the forum..

What I will say to you is that you are welcome to the Bitcointalk forum. Although you are a newbie to the forum, similar topics of this nature have been discussed several times in this forum, where you will see newbies are just after the merit or the rank, not maintaining the space of learning. As someone who is new to the forum, I didn’t expect you to start by asking how to get merit but to ask for help or questions about how you will be a beneficiary Bitcointalker.

Some people came here to achieve knowledge, some came for the money in signature campaigns, and some came to share their experience with others, so if you are new to a place, you should first of all learn what it is all about before thinking about achieving what others have. From your post, you said you have known about the sites for around a year now but don’t have any active accounts, so I will share some links with you, though you didn’t request for them, but I see they will be very helpful for your stay here in Bitcointalk, and I will also encourage you to engage in reading and research.

If you look at those people that has this tons of merit you will find another thing close to it as activity which means they have been doing some activities that resulted to merits.

If you want to be like them you need to go here https://learnmeabitcoin.com/ and read all about Bitcoin written in there and whatever you don't understand you can come back to the forum and use search button and find the thread that has the answers but if it's complicated to you can always ask questions. Go try it out buddy!

By stopping to ask questions like this and doing more reading first in the forum, and also not forgetting to make use of the forum search button, which can help you locate similar threads and the advice given to those who asked such questions,.

If you can be productive, ask helpful questions, provide valid solutions and answers to questions, and think less about how to earn merit, you will receive merit as a reward for your good work. It's as simple as that.

At first, it seems very hard to earn, but if you look deep down and understand how things work, think a little less about how to earn those merits, and just be yourself, you can even earn the merit in a post that you might least be expecting it from.
