Since I joined crypto world 2016, my dream is to own an exchange where people worldwide will trade cryptos.

I have made several research on how to own an exchange, but the stress, programming, management, time and finance involved in getting and running a good exchange is damn too high.

Am just a HTML programmer and no idea on blockchain programming.
Finance is number one issue, many good exchange script seller out there cost nothing less than $30k + setup fee including API key functionality.

I have contacted some friends to invest but non interested as they all have no clue about cryptocurrency.

Am saving some cash but it might take 2-3 years to have the fund raised.
Now, if eventually am able to get the fund to start an exchange in the next 2-3 years, will it be profitable or i should forget it?

Some will say why i want to own an exchange? Anyway, i see it as a cool business, listening and trading fee are the attractiveness i see in it.

Are you that scared of failing?i think thats what holding you back, you have to start making decisions by yourself, start learning how to and dont stop looking for someone who has experience in the field and things will get better in time but you must take a step yourself or you will remain in the same spot

For now, forget about the benefit as an exchange owner and the profit that is attached to it and focused on the work to be done.

Also, forget about the stress in it too for there are no easy way to success.

The good thing is that you have identified the challenges and problems ahead , so tackle it. Learn, meet people, get advise then text them.

The last thing I would say is, if you have passion for it then go ahead because is passion that will help you to keep trying even when it becomes difficult for you. Good luck to you.

Wow, this is much of a big question to answer. Should you own an exchange or not? I know that presently, the market is too saturated of exchanges because of the low adoption that we still have, which is why you see many projects failing a lot when they release their own exchange, I know of someone that released an exchange and has a very reliable company, despite all the adverts and efforts, they are not getting much attention because of the bigger exchanges that has taken the lead already.

If the year you thought of opening the exchange was when you did, I am sure that your exchange would have been among the recognized ones today, but it still not a bad idea to own one, but you have to make sure that you have it in mind that the light of your exchange might not shine to the world till like 4 years if you constantly do push it.

If the motivation to create an exchange as you say is only for the profitablity of the business then you have started with a wrong mindset and just like the dozens of projects out there that their exchanges has failed after couple of months of been active yours won't be an exception. The idea behind creating an exchange should be to solve the existing problems, flaws or improve on existing feature that the current exchange has.

When Binance launch their exchange back then, they wanted to solve the problem affecting the altcoin market which has to do with them, not having the privilege to list on reputed exchanges as the like of bittrex and poloniex which were the hot exchanges as of then didn't give altcoins a listing privilege. Although Binance has now use their listing fees to case away new project they did start quite well and that's the reason for their success. You first have to solve a problem before you can get reward (profit).

I admit that is a difficult thing. I am not underestimating, however, there have been many exchanges in crypto. And it's very difficult to get into the Top 100. Also, various criminal acts such as hackers also break into exchanges more and more. You must have a strong and experienced team in crypto.

Creating your own exchange platform is not that easy, its the reality thing in which we need to face on.
Second, it will need a financial to make it happen, then you should have a group or team that will help you out
about this things. Besides, no one stopping you to do it. So what are you worrying at?

I think having my own exchanger requires a large team and also a large capital. Security is always an issue at every exchanger because customers will choose an exchanger with strong security, and this requires a large and solid team.

I like your mindset and the fact that your are thinking big isn't a bad one. I believe creating an exchange isn't something you can single handedly do so I will advice you ask for support or people to collaborate with to make it a success

Since it has been your dream to have one exchang, I will advice you to keep trying, then try and save more money. People will never agree to invest since it not yet standard because nobody will like to invest in an invisible project.

You don't need to rush, it is better to educate yourself first on cryptocurrencies, exchanges, and the market. There are always some ways to get a fund for your own exchange in the future but the most important is to gain more information on how to run exchange and how  manage the risks that associated with it. It is better to plan it first properly and continue to find ways to achieve your goals.

Reach our dream is something that we need to do in our life. If you want to build your own exchange, you should prepare many things, most important is you need to have money to buy a domain, hosting, buy the exchange script, promote the website and many more. Maybe the other people think that is not worth, but for people who can get the advantage behind of having the exchange, he will try to reach his dream become true, but he needs to have a big effort to start. It's not easy as it says, but if you can get money to start, I am sure that you can build your exchange step by step.

Follow your dream and you will get there. Otherwise, you will regret you whole life that you have never tried it out. Spend money, make mistakes, learn from them and sooner or later you will achieve your goal and realise your dream.

Nothing stop you from achieving your dreams. Don't mind those making you feel as if you should forget about it or bury the dream. It's aactually a good one, don't bury it. You can start in 2-3 years from now and while that time passes, get your team together, make more research into what will be needed, read all of articles about how to start your own exchange,  and ask questions from those who have gone ahead of you in this business so you will make less mistakes

Before you can start a big project like exchange, you should understand that you need a good team and also funds to kick-start, not just the ideology. Also, even if you are just an HTML developer, you may hire a blockchain developer, but everything still boils down to initial funding.  Well, you can share your idea with some guys who can decide to invest privately if they believe in you.

Most likely your exchange will be very mediocre. Since you have no experience in administration. The technical component of the work is very important here. You're an amateur. But do not give up. If you can interest professionals in the blockchain industry, it will be possible to benefit from their experience and create a quality product.

So far we already have 233 exchanges in the market and still counting, many more are coming https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/3

Cryptocurrency Exchange is such a huge business, some of these exchanges have prior experiences from setting or running an exchange from other industry like Forex, I don't discourage you but unless you can assemble a great team and you have huge funds to spend, don't set up yet.

Thank you for your comment, me while, how do i get good team and beside will they contribute financially or looking for what they will put in their pocket?

You can ask your friends around you to help you to build the exchanges. It is better to work with somebody you know than to recruit other people who you don't know personal. Meanwhile, you can also hire someone to help you to manage the work while you can work for another to prepare the website. There are many things you need to do before you can launch the exchanges. The money will be the biggest problem that you should concern, and you might get confused if you cannot find the right person to help you.

If you already made that exchange platform in this particular year 2016-2017 maybe your exchange platform today was among one of the top crypto-exchange performer. Since most of the exchange platform that created in that particular year was already established and thriving today. But if you wish to create a crypto-exchange today i dont think it was a good idea since the crypto- space was already change a lot and it was very competitive yet unpredictable, I didnt mean to discourage your dream about  creating and exchange but you must also consider the reality today thats why if you have a guts, resources and innovation will wish you good luck.
Everyone who are in crypto has a dream to gain more but its always not easy to achieved it because we have to work it hard and to make it come true we should have to work for it and focus, another important thing is to spend for investment as the reality of making money is to start a money too.
