Use your country local exchange or local bitcoin and sell it to someone in your country. No need to convert it into alt as it's harder to sell. The bank will ask where you got it if the amount is big though.

Or any alt-coins?  Meaning, turn our BTC into USD.
Well, in our country, we use the coins.ph as my bitcoin wallet where i put all my bitcoins. This wallet can also convert bitcoin into philippine peso. Then after converting bitcoin into philippine peso we cash out money in a specific that is credited by the coins.ph. I withdrew my money thru atm machine, cardless. It can also be cash out in other stores accredited by the coins.ph but me, I usually withdrew in atm machine, its easier for me.

Go to Localbitcoins.com and sell your bitcoins for your local currency and receive them directly to your bank account. I couldn't find an easier way to cash out my bitcoins to my local currency than Localbitcoins.com. You should give it a try. I never faced any problems with it.
Yeah OP, if you want to cash out then this is probably the best and easiest way to do it. But I am suggesting you to not cash out BTC, as you can see its price is increasing and well it doesn't seem like it will stop anytime soon.

cryptocurrencies are to be used digitally, that's why they are inside the called  cashless society.  You can however, exchange them in exchangers lke localbitcoins, I guess coinbase also allows for some countries, if you provide your documentation.

It's different for every people, some people use localbitcoin and coinbase but i'm using my local exchanger to cash out my bitcoin into fiat. What country do you live ? If you live in USA, you can easily use coinbase to cash out your bitcoin into USD or using bitcoin ATM but the fee is so damn ridiculous big.

I sell my bitcoins on localbitcoins as it is the best place to sell my bitcoins here in my country as I prefer to get money into my bank account and the process is very simple and within 10 to 15 minutes the money gets credited to my bank account.

Well here in my country that is not a problem.
We have this wallet called coins.ph and cashing out without tax is no problem. You just need to send them some ID's for verification. This is an online wallet so storing huge amount of coins here are not advisable. I just use it as an exchanger and for cashing out. Hope your country will have like this too. Grin

There are several exchanges depending on how you want to receive your USD. You can also sell to individual people on say localbitcoin. If you're lucky there may just be a bitcoin atm nearby that allows withdrawals in cash.

As dollar is not used much in my country, one can exchange bitcoins for local fiat. Although Ukraine is a developing country, it is surprisingly easy to cash out btc here. Of course there are sites where you have to provide your ID, photograph and other unpleasant things. The money you will lose while converting is insignificant. I guess you can meet people and do the exchange via localbitcoins in big cities, but I don't enjoy dealing with strangers and meeting people in general, so I choose the 3rd option. That is an online exchange on a website which doesn't need any info from you apart from a debit card number and email. The fee will make you lose about  1-5% of what you withdraw but it's safe, fast and reliable.

What do you mean alt coins, if you want to cash out there are heaps of ways and they are all pretty simple and barely need any forrm of ID. On localbitcoin you can find a seller who is interested in selling Bitcoin for cash, bank transfer or any other payment method. When making a transaction on localbitcoin I would recommend only selling/buying off people who seems to have good trust. Localbitcoin will be your escrow so only release the bitcoins when you know you have been paid.

Haven't you ever seen that Morpheus/Neo meme? The point is to hodl your coins, not until a certain price point is reached, but until you don't have to cash out at all. By that point, everyone will accept BTC, and you won't need to touch USD.

Otherwise, go the conventional route: send your coins to an exchange, verify your identity, send out bank wires and make sure that your taxes are in order. Smiley

The idea is not to "cash out" to cash but to rather use the currency to make online payments or to use it at your local stores that accept Bitcoin. If you have to cash out, you can register with a Bitcoin exchange and then link you bank account to this exchange and then sell the BTC for fiat and then withdraw it to your bank account.

We want to avoid "cashing out" at all cost and rather stimulate the network by using it daily for BTC payments. This will increase merchant adoption, if people demand to pay in Bitcoin. ^smile^

Go register to a exchanges and submit all necessary documentation and wait for them to processed it. Once they confirmed your account then you can transfer your bitcoin to that exchange then convert it to USD. Or just used localbitcoins and try to meet someone that will purchase your BTC into USD.

Or any alt-coins?  Meaning, turn our BTC into USD.

In our country, there is a well known bitcoin wallet, which is the Coins.ph. though I don't recommend you using it because it is an exchanger, you don't hold your private keys there. But when it comes to caahing out your BTCs, they are very efficient and easy.

That is right, coins.ph offer an efficient way of cashing out your bitcoins into fiats through banks, cash pickups, they even offer game credits. And also, coins.ph is not the known site there, there is also rebit.ph. For me, the difference of these two is that rebit has higher cash out than coins.
