Bitcoin came up in a conversation in a line.  Religious person said BitCoin was start of the apocalypse or something.

Oh come on. Just because I introduced a bill that a bitcoin QR code be tatooed on everyone's right hand or forhead doesn't mean it is the beginning of apocalypse.

I just want to make it easier. You have the QR code readily available so the merchant can scan it and confirm you are buying with your bitcoins. You can't buy stuff without it. It reduces fraud and is a good idea. Really.

I sense some sarcasm here I think?

That said, there is a 39 page thread about this topic already.

My points are that the Bible could indeed lend some credence to the success of Bitcoin, or something similar, in that governments may need to fight it somehow if it is completely anonymous.  How would they do that?  Buy forcing everyone to have a mark on his hand or forehead so they can keep track of purchases and tax people that way.

I personally think it would be a shame for bitcoin to be associated with religion, no wars have been started over bitcoin, no crusades have been waged over bitcoin, nobody has been murdered in the name of bitcoin, bitcoin doesn't hate fags, bitcoin hasn't fondled little boys, bitcoin hasn't raped little boys, should I go on?

That's a pretty ironic statement, since Bitcoin is money, and every war is about money.

I think your nitpicking

Why should any religion care bitcoin? Bitcoin is only a new currency, and it won't change anything regarding people's beliefs about the afterlife or what's good and bad. Religions are used to currency changes. The catholic religion is more than 2,000 years, and the U.S. dollar didn't exist by then. Nor did any currency that we know today. My best bet is that religions will outlast bitcoin.

I think they will like it, specially the folks at Vatican, it's much easier to launderer.

When the whole mess with Wikipedia refusing btc was happening, BitPay set it up so that Wikipedia could receive btc donations into their fiat acct anyway. Last I checked they do that free for non-profits.

So, if you can get the same deal set up for the Vatican, eventually they will notice.

That will also answer for them the question why they should care about btc, because they are subject to the higher payment system fees now.

We can get most religions to care about BTC very easily.

Have them set up an account for donations (is there a non-profit donation site out there yet?  Probably) then send the ones you like some coins.  Wink  Once they realize that they can get donations in BTC they will be all for it.

I think some of us twitted tweeted the previous Pope about it - the first Pope to use Twitter. This new Pope seems to be even more progressive. So, try it:

Have you not noticed? Bitcoin has already become a religion. And most of its true believers are present in this forum.

You guys are missing the main point here.

Which will adapt to bitcoin?

Obviously, the GOV will "NOT"... our gov are manipulated by CORP...

But what if a "RELIGION" adapts to bitcoin?

A religion does not speaks with/from/to any CORP or any thing related to manipulation... Each religion has its own "BELIEFS" in the way of life...

so if one religion supports CRYPTO-CURRENCY... which is not being made by CORPs/GOVs....

it would be a very good thing... don't you think?

I am talking about "WHO" should adapt to crypto-currency...

GOV VERSUS RELIGION

You're missing the point.

1) Religions don't adapt, they assimilate.

2) The word you're looking for is adopt, not adapt.

3) Bitcoin IS a religion, at least insofar as it's being treated here and on the subreddit.

4) Religions don't adopt other religions, they swallow them, chew them up and spit them out. Arrividerci, sconfitto. Hey, wait, that's actually pretty anarcho-libertarian with the whole "Fuck you, got mine" aspect.

They both should adapt to bitcoin, why does it have to be "either or"

I think you missed my point though, I do not want religion or government to be associated with bitcoin, see my previous points about this topic.
