Instead of replying and bumping this thread which has been sinking since 2019, why don't you read one of the answers on this one?
There is usually a warning that the post you are replying to is too old but they still ignore these warnings and keep bumping up such threads asking for the same questions. His account is 2017 registered even before the merit system implementation so he must be aware about all the rules now.

You must at least be a full member to use the avatar. In addition to activity points, you also need sufficient merit to be able to rank up to full member. This means that now you need a minimum of 88 merit again to rank up to full member and use avatars. The quality of your posts will determine that.
Don't want to sound rude but don't think he will reach there if he keeps up the same posting style as you can see he has hardly managed to gain 2 merits in past 120 days and only 12 in 5 years time span so how much will it take to reach 100 limit of full member at same pace? So they need to understand that only way is learning and sharing knowledge on the forum.

I am a member, even I can't wear an avatar right? I have 12 merits, as people mentioned above I too should keep posting again to gain full membership.

You need to be at least full member to be able to add an image to your profile.

This means that now you need a minimum of 88 merit again to rank up to full member and use avatars. The quality of your posts will determine that.

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

This guy is new and came here through search which is appreciated. He is not the thread creator.
...
Or a necro poster, and this is how he/she can gain activity, with meaningful posts on old threads.
But it's also possible that he/she will become a decent poster in the future, now you just can't tell that from 3 posts.
Anyway, time will tell Smiley

Thanks to all about explanations .I'm new comer and was struggle with this.
You need not struggle with this as you're a long way away from wearing an avatar and that shouldn't be an issue for you here, you have to first struggle to earn a merit and then more merits to rank you up,to be able to use forum privileges.

And do not be in a hurry to rank up as it will nose definitely lead you to do wrong things that could get you removed from the forum

Have you even read the thread from the beginning? This guy is new and came here through search which is appreciated. He is not the thread creator. Before adding a comment, please make sure you are not going to add something which is "Zero Value"

Yeah, like they've said you need to have enough activity to reach full member status before you can upload a avatar pic.

you need to be at least a full member like me to have your avatar. it taken me four months to be a full member just post at least once a day so you will get your activity raised as time goes by.

I was setting up all my information like I usually do on all of my new sites, but I couldn't find any option to add an avatar. However, I do know that they are available because I have seen other people with them.

You need to be at least full member to be able to add an image to your profile.

Thank you! Can you explain to me what the difference between activity and posts are?

Edit: I'm dumb, sorry. This is a little complicated for me, I haven't used a forum besides Reddit for a couple of years now.

Read This Thread:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/unofficial-list-of-official-bitcointalkorg-rules-guidelines-faq-703657

Some friendly advice....take some time to look through all the different boards.
There is ALOT of info here, and some easy rules to go by. Look toward the top
of each board, and you will see sticky posts.(pinned posts) Inside each one is a
basic rundown of the rules of that particular board. Need any help just ask.
Goodluck!!!
