Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum scene, but I've been following cryptocurrencies for a while now. Some of the tech has me really excited, but there are use cases that I read about that just make me scratch my head Huh. One thing I've noticed is that some projects for which the buzzword count to substance ratio is insanely high does pretty good, while others that seem to have a legitimately great idea flounder.

So my question is, from an investment standpoint, what do *you* look for in a cryptocurrency?

For instance I think that Mysterium looks like a fantastic idea...but I'm not great with finance stuff, so I'm wondering what more seasoned investors think

There are plenty of good project in this forum, and consider success where people who already invested get benefits, the most successful right now such as bitcoin, byteball, ethereum, zcash and so on http://coinmarketcap.com/ its price give an interesting information.
For the new project, Ico or crowdsale,, people tend to look at whom behind the project, are they trusted?
But the most important, you have to understand whitepaper of the project, what's the difference? How it could be successful?
So, you need a lot of read and enough knowledge about cryptocurrency to judge a new project.

Before I decide what is good to invest is I search the latest altcoin to trade. If this is good and if this on the top market. And also if theres a demand on this coin were traders invest in this coin. As long were I can take a profit and invest were you can afford to lose.

Its also good to look at upcoming icos for max profit. I remember the psb surge last time though i don't think its still available. Reading threads and forums would really help a lot as there you'll find information on what altcoin is advisable to start with.
I do not know about that, I prefer to invest in a coin after it has some history in the market, I do not like to invest in ICOs, while its unrelated I think of it as buying a game presale where you don’t know how the game is going to turn out at all.
With ICO's the end outcome is unknown, still a good team won't let it fall down as the increasing value profits them. So these days there are good number of ICO projects similar to the altcoins that are making evolution in the cryptocurrency network.

I will decide on the latest and see on the profit if it is good.I will go for good and fast to have profit. When I decided to invest my time working as a bitcoiner,Im expecting that all evedence of the bitcoiners that I can have it too.
My way trading is also adding new coins to my portfolio time to time. Because when we are taking more risks, the chances for making more profits will be high.

Because I do see many coins are simply sitting within some range and not breaking either upper side and lower sides. But if you watch new altcoins they are making their new peak levels. Then why should not be make use of them ? We should try new things all the times so that we can enjoy our trading along with making good profits considerably.
I agree, trader must look for new things for extending his trading experiences. But we should not lose our chances of making good profit when we are looking for new coins for more profits. I mean to say we must look for consistent profits rather than aiming for big profits.

There are enough old portfolio which are giving consistent fluctuations to make use by any trader. When we are having strong technical is analysis, we never need to look for new things. Because, a perfect technical analysis will find more possibilities to make more profits. When you will be comfortable with your profit levels, why you do not need to go for new trading opportunities by risking your capitals.

The most important thing in my opinion is if the project has a market or solves a problem, if it does not then the coin may pump but that will be it, if the project is in fact useful then you will only have to wait to reap the benefits of your early investment.

I think the price action will be my priority to decide to replace investment. Active price is the way to make profit, about volume or news I'll make an alternative opinion about that. Second thing is how easy to exchange this investment for becoming currency, more difficult to exchange I'll leave it. Just simple like that and have a nice day.

For me I look at technicals, more specifically breakout patterns. There usually is a breakout pattern on the 5m and 15m charts where price consistently bounces off of a level, and volatility is extremely low. I enter once I see that the price break through the level that I set and try to sell when the price movement becomes too steep. usually I can sell pretty close to the peak with this strategy.

Cashback 15%
First and foremost, is there a demand and a market for the said investment? If there is, then liquidity isn't a problem. Next, are there serious investors and people behind it? If yes, then this thing is the shit. Are there any serious innovations for the investment or has it made public ears and eyes already? If yes, this has the potential to get more money since people already know something about it.

Before I invest into an altcoins. The first thing I do is reading  the white paper of that particular coin and from there know if the project is worth investing in or not. I do also looking at if the ICO has a good reputation and if the project has an escrow. Please note I only invest in new project or coins.

Being a trader we must take some risk all the time so I'm not finding any meaningless action with this. It is a trader's preferences whether they can stick with only one trading instrument or they can look for new coins too.
But trading only well known instruments is more secured way of trading. Because when you are looking for high rewards from a new project, the chances will be more for getting disappointment rather than getting what you are actually looking for.

As per my previous experiences, just a trading few altcoins are more than enough for me. Because newly listed altcoins are having more chances to get dumped overnight whereas established altcoins are staying stronger always.

So my question is, from an investment standpoint, what do *you* look for in a cryptocurrency?
It seems it is a question to a trader who is continuously looking for new trading instrument whereas I am always sticking with only highly established coins. Personally I am hating risking my trading with new coins. When I am going with known and highly established coins, I believe I'm not taking big risks. People do share they are making big profits with new altcoins, at the same time I had bad experiences by trading new things.

There are many feasible ways to determine the potential of new coins, but there has more possibilities to get disappointment too. When I will be focusing only to my bitcoin trading, and honestly I'm not finding any time for going back with new things.
That is true, we do not need to look for new/good investment all the times. Just sticking with bitcoin trading is more than enough for most of the traders. But some people want different risk/reward ratio and they are looking for new opportunities. As you have mentioned it has both advantages and pitfalls.

Being a trader we must take some risk all the time so I'm not finding any meaningless action with this. It is a trader's preferences whether they can stick with only one trading instrument or they can look for new coins too.

In investment or trading of course we are looking for the one that making profit, the bigger the profit the better the investment is, there are two types of investment which is short term and long term, usually for short term I am looking for the market trend and the most popular coin at that time and for long term I tend look for the potential like project development and what will be next target for the coin developer and what is the market target

Well like they have said look for something that has potential (well sometimes you won't know for sure), be updated on the news and the new trends, ask some professionals and oldies in these stuff. Look for the characteristics of a coin that has some edge on other coins, investors are looking for a good coin and has a high potential on security and transactions. Even veteran traders get blank when situations got tough. No one is a 100% sure in cryptocurrencies investment, even in Bitcoin. Well do some investments in the real world in order to have a back up plan when things got tough here in Cryptocurrency world.

There is an old time trading strategy or investment plan that many amateurs traders has abandoned and their following fantasy and advise of the said gurus who make their money from train and sell their training material for fortune. The simply trading strategy is buying low and sell high, buy at accumulating level and sell at distribution level, buy wholesale and sell at retail. Goodluck.
