Hehe, this is exactly my question.

I'm a web developer by profession, and when working in the company, I used to wear whatever suits the weather. In summer, light clothes, sometimes not even shoes. But since I'm doing home office, I'm glad whenever I manage to wear a pair of trousers. ^^
Just recently, I told my boss that we were doing Skype conversations with a customer where I only wore a shirt and shorts, but no trousers at all, because nobody would notice it, anyway. Cheesy

Because sitting the whole day in a suit is not comfortable at all. I have no physical contact with customers at all, so it would just be an overdress.
You get more business when you're an in person worker, and hands on. It also helps to mind your physical appearance.

Also, a suit is also for personal confidence. Just like how makeup for women is also targeting the same concept.

And same as makeup a suit is not necessary. I'd just not feel comfortable in a suit and as I said, I won't have contact to customers since I'm getting work to do and it has to be done. Our administration has to talk to our customers etc.

Suit for my work -> overdressing
