A lot of people cannot handle losing money and this set of people are supposed to avoid gambling considering what is at stake when one gambles but, they would rather pay no attention to their weaknesses and still go ahead to gamble because of what they stand to gain if they eventually win. Preaching to them about controlling their emotions will yield no result, it is better to avoid gambling and other huge risks activities if incuring losses triggers a negative energy within them. Violence after a gambling loss is a bad altitude as a gambler and it is a sign for you as a gambler to have a rethink. Whether you are gambling for the money or for fun (as you may claim), if your emotions trigger you to act out of control whether during a win or a loss, then you should check yourself.

Have actually been hearing many people saying that they gamble for fun or enterteinment And not for the money , this has also been My perception Towards gambling If not for the small money I often make Sometiemes But this idea changed this evening when i went To a game house To play some betting games.

This evening i actually realized that some people see gambling as a means of livelihood, i Was At a game house today watching some Guys play snooker betting  And their games where actually funny And entertaining till one of the Gamblers lost all his money to his fellow Gambler And he became very violent And started a fight with his colleaque that resulted the attention of the Police Force. The Police arrested everyone including the owner of the betting shop And insisted that we will all bail ourselves with money before we can go home freely .

This idea gave me the impression that some people can be very dangerous as a result of lossing money while gambling And i aslo learnt My lessons today . However, i Dont know If you have actually experienced such things At the betting shops And If yes How do you feel or react At the situation? .

Have not had such experience cause I do my own betting online, most times it's advice to stay away from such games spot cause usually it triggers and result's in most violence cases we hear about.
What happened to the online casinos and betting sites to place and stake games and so on,I do mine here to avoid myself fallen into such situations.

And most times it's greed that cause all these violence during gambling and betting, when your partner is winning and at the other hand your loosing your angry and vexed at that moment, you know most people can't really control their anger in this aspect and that's why it's not advisable to gamble in such open areas cause it might generate to something even much worse than what you experienced.
This is where controlling emotions when gambling should be considered very greatly.

it was a bad experience that shouldn't have happened. but my question is how could the police arrest everyone including the shop owner? isn't it the man's fault who started a fight with his friend? it seems here that the police are corrupt police, because if it was a police officer who carried out his duties properly, then he would not have arrested everyone there and asked for compensation to let them go.

First an overall comment on the situation - is this really a story about real gambling? I imagine whole situation to happen in a bar with pool tables in it. Something tells me that alcohol was involved in that story.

-snip-

And not only alcohol necessarily. We should know what really happened, because chances are that someone cheated, or felt cheated, or maybe they already had pending quarrels in advance, etc.

But there may be a link between gambling and testosterone that could explain these (fortunately rare) events or why men gamble more than women, if it's not just for a cultural issue. I suppose there will be papers on this, but I don't think any solid scientific consensus have been reached so far about this topic.

I have never experienced any acts of violence during offline gambling. I believe this was due to fact that casinos I was in always had guards, and if a person starts to behave inappropriate, he will be persistently asked to leave. Ive seen people losing thousands in seconds. It was clearly seen that they were "greatly disappointed", but maximum they did were few curse words.

The maximum level of rudeness I have seen was following. Many years ago, while being abroad on a vacation in Greece, hotel has snooker table with 1 coin = 1 game system. Company of guys have occupied that one single table and were playing for quite a time. When other company came, a guy left a coin on a table side (meaning he is next in queue to play), so those who were already playing, took that coin and put it on a regular table. That triggered a heated talk between two companies on different languages Cheesy Due to language barrier, their conflict ended with first company plays one game, then they change and other company plays, then the change again. That is the only "violence" I have experienced in gambling.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
It hasn't happened to me because I've never gone to a physical casino to make a bet, but I can't imagine violence happening because when people lose, they get angry at you because you've taken all their money with the game, how can they not be annoyed at how a funny bet turns violent because of uncontrollable emotions.

So online casinos are chosen because they avoid physical contact with other players, while on the other hand online casinos are more comfortable and quiet when we play maybe when anger is not anyone knows because we ourselves can cover it up.

The guy is not a matured gambler, and shoukd not gamble if he takes the advantage of one-on-one betting for granted. Assuming it was in a big casino would he make any noise, I guess not. I don't gamble with strangers that I meet anywhere, if I must gamble on land casinos, I don't do that because it is very dangerous, and can lead to such scenario that was mentioned by the OP.

Online casinos are the best to stake your bet based on privacy, and to avoid an uncomfortable environment. This is among one of the reasons why online casinos are more unique, because if you win, you get paid without complain or troubles, but this is only on trusted casinos with good reputation. This is one of the problem that we encounter when we gamble with the funds that we cannot afford to lose.

If a person became violent after losing so much money in gambling, it means that a person is addicted on gambling or maybe that person is suffering in some major financial problems in his life and he thinks that gambling is the only solution for him to surpass the problems that he is suffering. I can't give any other comments because we don't know the source of the trouble, maybe  there will be other reasons why it reached violence right away. Maybe the defeat was unexpected and then there was a financial problem that was being faced. So all I can really say is that when we gamble, let's make sure that we can accept all the results, whether it's winning or losing.

It's in the preventing of this occurrence that some gamblers restraint their gambling life to online gambling alone because some characters you will meet in the on-land casinos or a one-on-one gaming  are just a bunch of unscrupulous persons without guiding principles.

Fighting because of a gamble loss is akin to gamblers that are without a job or any means of been productive financially and have taken gambling as a way out to financial income so when they lose they don't just lose money but also lose hope of where the next money could come for them throughout that day or week. This incidents are frequent in societies with high rate of unemployment leading to youth redundancy and street vices (street gambling).

This is one of the reasons that I prefer online gambling. But if it is land based, I will prefer to gamble with the casino instead than to be gambling with another person. The casino can not fight with me if I win but someone that lost his money to me may want to fight me. I also think sport betting agent is better because gamblers understand just like you are losing to gambling site and not the betting agent. I prefer not to gamble with people just because I want to avoid violence. There are places you can gamble like that in my area, but I always avoid it. If you see the kind of people gambling in such a place, you will even want to avoid it if you are educated.
Not really totally happen all the time or doesnt often happen but there are really conditions or situations on which it would really be possibly to happen because there are gamblers who cant really be able to take control of their emotions on which they do really ends up on being that impulsive and might be ending up on having that kind of violence which would really be putting up others safety at risks and this is something that i do really also tend to avoid because usually these things do happen on public places but knowing about these venues or businesses which they do have that security on which it is really that in default then it is really not that shocking
that they would really be having to maintain peace and order because if their customers or players would be having that feeling of being unsafe into their place then this would really be affecting their business in overall
or simply it does tarnish out the overall popularity and reputation of the said business which we know or common sense that it is really that bad.

While it is repeatedly reminded that gambling should be treated merely as a source of entertainment, in reality, so many gamblers are in primarily for the money. Although there must still be some fun, their main goal is to make money. This is the reason why there are so many gamblers who also lose patience when they're losing their bets. They suddenly become aggressive. They suddenly get piqued easily. This isn't who they are when they're winning.

And one reason for this is that many gamblers are gambling using money that is not extra. They're using money that's so important for them to lose. They're even using money that is already set aside for certain expenses.

I have indeed seen this on the past, especially at the poker table after one player successfully bluffed the other and they deliberately showed their hand, at that moment the losing player realized they have been deceived by their opponent, they fly into a rage and a fist fight may soon follow.

Which is why when I bluffed my opponents I made sure to never reveal my cards, even when I was offered money by them to do so, as I knew that some of those players were just looking for an excuse to start a fight.

Not to the point of violence. Extreme emotions? I've felt it personally before, and with acquaintances as well. Just gave them a cig and let them smoke one out in the balcony when it happens usually. I feel like it's pretty normal? Gambling is one of those activities where emotions can run pretty high in the span of one or two moments. It's just that type of game, and it's mostly in the nature of humans to respond to said changes in a pretty extreme way, especially if you consider how important money is to each individual.

I haven't experienced violence itself while gambling though. I reckon it's just a more extreme version of what I experience? I mean I reckon there'd be security in places like casinos anyway so I'd just give it time to get resolved.

I have not experienced something like this before but I know for sure that people get angry easily because they lost money to casinos or to their fellow gamblers. Sometimes the vexation can lead to fight but it's not often. You're situation would have been different if you understood the situation of things earlier and left the environment than get involved with the police for what you have no business with.

This a typical example of why most people have chosen online based casinos than land based casinos, perhaps its more private to take you actions at any given place than subject yourself to public insults and issues like this. Anyways this particular case have given me a lesson too, I will be more conscious of the environment I will find myself hence forth.

Your experience sheds light on the complex and varied reasons people engage in gambling, highlighting that while many see it as leisure or a way to make some extra cash, others might rely on it more heavily, sometimes leading to intense situations like the one you witnessed.

Personally, I haven't been in such a tense situation, but hearing about your experience reinforces the importance of approaching gambling with awareness and caution, recognizing it can have different stakes for different people.

This is the reality of people living in low income country controlled by oligarchy, corruption, and bad leadership. Taking to gambling to survive daily is not what it is supposed to be but then it is what it is and you can't judge them.

Yes, this happens quite a lot. This is just like an unregulated gambling. There are no rules other than, we place bets, you lose intake your money. And if you become too emotional about it, I still will not give you back your bet. The police can do nothing to prevent such from happening the next time. The only way is if that facility is shut down. But beyond gambling that is a business place for a person.

Next time there is a fight at a physical bet shop, talk to the owner to ban the gamblers if not some day when someone dies as a result of it, he will have no business to run because didn't prevent these recurrent fights from aggrieved gamblers.

Violence while gambling? No way, that is one of the reasons why I would stick to online gambling and Bitcoin casinos as long as possible. There ware no chances something as unsavory will happen to me while I am at the comfort of my home.
Needless to say, I would be very depressed and also upset if anything remotely similar happened to me while gambling, perhaps it is one of the reasons one should reconsider to play Player vs player modalities, specially if one does not know personally the other gambler one is playing agains.

Also, it catches my attention how the police even keep arrested or tried to arrest the onwer of the bettingshop, even though he did not have anything to do with the incident (besides being the owner of the place). It sound you guys have problem with corrupt police people there in your country.

when you look at the past you realize that most people have always taken competitions and games very seriously, even in cases where there is no money involved or the money involved is not big compared to the money they have, still these People will take it very seriously and if they lose they may turn to violence. See, for example, the recent case of Cristiano Ronaldo, who during a game lost his temper and attacked his opponent and made an aggressive gesture towards the referee. he wins a lot of money, obviously he could have remained calm in that situation and not attacked anyone and the game would have continued as normal and he would have been winning a lot of money even with his team losing. So why did he get so angry, even if his team lost, he would still be making a lot of money?

The answer to this question is very simple: no one likes to lose. And that's the point of fighting, losing. here in my neighborhood it has been common for people to play a lot and after a few hours they start fighting among themselves and from what I can hear from my house and that the reason for their fight is related to the game, it seems to me that the loser does not accept the defeat, while the winner laughs at the loser, this causes them to start insulting and despising each other and then start fighting. To this day, I can't understand how, before playing, they laugh amongst themselves, showing that they are friends, but during the game they start fighting amongst themselves. The game has this power to influence people's feelings and those violent people who have a great feeling that they must win everything and hate defeat are the ones who most resort to physical aggression when they are losing.

Losing money sucks. Regardless of how much folks on the forum will talk about how it's all fun and for entertainment but are actually sugarcoating it because when they lose money, it's no longer all fun and laughs. That's what happened to the guy at the bet shop. About your other question, I have experienced any such violent outbursts and drama over a bet loss since I conduct majority of my gambling activities at BcGame, stake and a local online gambling outfit in my country.

The fact that you stand to lose something when gambling actually makes it a business rather than a simple PvP game.

I've never actually experienced anything like this.  I've seen people get angry but never take it out on anyone else.  Granted I don't go into small casinos very often and haven't in quite some time.  I would assume if you did something like this in one of the large popular casinos in Vegas you might end up in a back room talking to some unfriendly folks wishing instead for the police.  Still, I think the best thing to do when in public and things like this happen is to try and de-escalate the situation and if that isn't possible then remove yourself from it.  That or start recording on your phone and yell out, "World Star!"
