The Blockchain.info app works great on the iPhone, even without jailbreaking it. I made a payment to someone today, and he received it nearly instantaneously.

No problem.

I saw a video with a London pub taking bitcoin payments with the Blockchain.info app. Thy just use the app to scan your QR code. Easy.

You downloaded it before they removed it from the app store.

It's still on the app store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/blockchain/id493253309?mt=8

They removed one version of a app until the devs removed something to meet Apples nazi criteria.

No idea what everyone is talking about. The one in the app store is the one I currently have. It sends, receives, shows transactions, scans QR codes, imports paper wallets, etc.

You downloaded it before they removed it from the app store.

No problem.

Did you download the app ages ago before Apple removed the previous version? What can't you do with the latest blockchain.info app that you could on the other?

Works for me.

Maybe they're talking about a different app. I know Apple did remove one but it wasn't blockchain.info, but maybe you have an older version to the one that is on the current store. How long ago did you download it?

Iphone=used toilet paper

But you cant store Bitcoins on used toilet paper lol.

With jailbroken iphone you can use the full blockchain.info app

I don't think it has to even be jailbroken.

With jailbroken iphone you get the fully functional blockchain.info wallet.   Apple added restrictions, and some of the functionality got removed from the app store version of blockchain.info

Is there an app yet for smartphones where you can transfer bitcoins from one individual to another by scanning their QR code when displayed on the other person's phone? Or at some point at a retailer (perhaps one day like Starbucks)?

You can do that on the blockchain.info app. I'm sure there are others too.

smartphone is android (and winphone/palm at the beginning).
so ... you have this : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet

and you ALWAYS use QR-code with 'modern' phone... but you can read bitcoin adress, too (to transfer to bitcoin-QT on desktop computer).
