We have got lot many access for transaction purposes, the simplest is the blockchain web wallet. However you try to keep hold of your wallet, surely at some point third party involvement will be there. This can be overcome by the highly advanced people in the cryptocurrency world.

The only way I know how to send Bitcoin is through an exchange. How would I do this from one computer to another without using a third party. Is this even possible?
Use a wallet like Bitcoin Core, Armory or Electrum.
Usually you press Send, enter the address and the amount of BTC and you send it.

That's how you should be doing it, you need to use an exchange to obtain Bitcoin in the first place though.

Buddy, if you want to send bitcoin without using exchange, just go through the currency exchange section of this forum and open a thread that you want to buy or sell your bitcoins. There you will find may users who are willing to buy or sell bitcoins for fiat currencies or for altcoins. The only thing what you have to keep in mind is to do trading only with users who have positive trust.

An exchange is like an platform that acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers of the cryptocurrency. But if you have a desktop wallet like Electrum, then you can used it to send bitcoin to another wallet without going to an exchange. Please go here: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet and choose the best wallet that will fit your needs. I hope I answer your question. LOL. Grin
