How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?

Post quality matters and not having thousands of posts without values and such post can can never receive merits for any reason. And I will like to quote from someone who said "Good" is better than having a page filled with no values.

Lol. Seeing this particular post made me remember the good old days when I wan trying to know how things are done especially when it came to merit related issue, I believe I would even complain of why people making comments under my threads are getting merits and me nothing to show for it, I felt bad till I knew that getting merit here isn't all that hard just be yourself and write up your opinion on the matters and most times share your insight and experience that would help someone out and believe me you would be surprised to see the merits ahead.

I think the opinions of friends here are very good, you can read one by one and see that the point is quality posts, 1 quality post is better than 10 junk posts that only make spam especially if done in a day. Stay patient and never give up on finding quality topics that you can make into threads, if the post is useful such as information, surely many friends will give merit to your post including me.

Merit is like social praise from other members for quality posts and participation. The more you add quality posts and topics to the forum, the more likely members will share some merit love with you.

It is just as simple as you said and I also believe if only he will take proper notes of the users response here definitely there is going to a massive change as regards to his curiosity, every higher rank member was once like him, one thing about some Newbies is that they are not patient enough to navigate the forum and gather enough information that will enable them to be making meaningful contributions and asking relevant questions where and when necessary. Merit in my own term is a gift or reward from a user that values your contribution, and of course one must work for it as a payment.

Alot of newbie as asked this same question countless times  Smiley

The answer still remains , having the right knowledge, the funny thing is that you earn merit when you least expect it

The only advice I will give to you is that don't focus on merit , rather focus on the knowledge and help the forum can offer and with time merit will come along.

Is like a reward for your contribution in this forum, so is like a form of encouragement, so stick the right path and merit will come

Haha I am still replying even if I have not received many in my last 120 days, but I think earning merits is just so random you can't predict from which person and on which post you can receive merits; it is so so random event. I received merits randomly but one thing I have observed, which is true for everyone and is that there are people who share merit to newbies on their local communities to support them but you have to earn those merits by making good and quality posts.

Spamming with AI or other content can lead to ban invasion-type restrictions; therefore we must be authentic here and post good and self-written content, plus before I thought to earn merit we don't have to make special efforts, but yeah, to get some merits, we have to work on the quality of our posts at least as I said and to work on many things; otherwise, not a chance.

Doesn't matter how much you have posted post on the forum. Main thing is that how much quality your posts have. If you will make a quality post so definitely you can get a merit or dozens of merits only on one post. If you are thinking that the merits are only related to posts quantity so you are thinking wrong. You can visit bounty section you will see many users there who have 1000+ posts with zero merits. And you will see many members here who have less activity and have more merits as compare to activity. So merits are directly relate to post quality not to post quantity.

If merit is based on the number of posts, of course there are many accounts with thousands of posts that will have thousands of merits.
Understand what merit is, where merit comes from so that it is easier for you to find out how to get merit.

People will give me merit when they assess what I have conveyed as worthy of being given. Basically, you can appreciate people by giving merit when you have received merit from other users. The way, they will click the merit button in the right corner of your post. Of course, each person's assessment.

Merit is a reward for your good posts which is not system generated though I heard auto merit was generated once. But now if someone gives merit to your post then only you will get merit. Otherwise you will not get any merit for whatever you post. You can get 23 merits with 1 post whereas you get no merits with 23 posts. You have to create such quality post to get merit.

Even if you post 100 posts and the post does not draw people's attention you will not receive merit, before you have merit or you want to receive merit you have to make a good or quality post that if anyone reads they will like to comment and add their own opinion, as a newbie I don't think you should be chasing merit, I think you should learn how to create a good post and some ways to get merit when I come across this post the first thing that comes to my mind is that you join the forum for growing your account immediately and that will be very difficult to achieve.

You have to be patient to learn more about forums and how to get the attention of people to earn merit, forum might not be the way it was introduced to you because at this moment merit is very hard to get today day but making a good post will still help you, I believe no matter how hard it is to get merit in the forum if you create a good post and get people attention you will receive merit, so don't give up and put more effort to achieve what you are here for.

You have made a total of 25 posts and not a total of 25 quality posts that are worthy of been merited. Try and know the difference between a normal post and a quality post. Those two Will differentiate whether your post is been worthy of been merited or not. You can see in the reply of some accounts been quoted that are still newbies with plenty of posts and don’t have a number of merit that is even close to what their number of post is. If you have a big number of posts, try and make sure they are of good quality that deserves to be merited or else you’ll just become another newbie will plenty posts and no merit worthy of any to up your merit count in the forum.

As far as I know, merits is always awarded to a post that is very helpful and meaningful to the Bitcointalk forum. So you don't need to be surprised when you see 3 post with 4 merits on it, that's how valuable the post is to the forum. However, you are not supposed to be told that you need to improved in your post quality, because once you create a very good topic that's worthy to be merited you would see that the forum members will surely merit it.

Spend more time in learning about the contemporary world situation and various problems and solutions in the financial sector especially related to Bitcoin accumulation. If you have any questions through knowledge then you can create a related thread in the forum and I think most of the senior members present in the forum will help you.
Try to sharpen your ability to gain merit and publish informative for other members in the forum and gain.
Those are technical things that need to be learned according to existing theories and they are general.
But some other factors that will affect how you get merit is where you make it, If you are in the wrong place you will just be ignored and you are not part of the place.
If indeed you get rewards from a foreign place, it is because the quality you provide is really worthy of appreciation.

And also this depends on how you give back from what you have given to others.
If you are loyal enough to give merit to members who deserve it, you will get it back, but of course it must also be accompanied by appropriate quality.

If you really want to get more merit you need to focus on making good posts that help others or share new ideas with community which helpful for them. You can do it with writing posts that are well researched and have good information. And secondly talk with other people with answering their comments and starting discussions means answering to the point and be on topic and do not post useless things like spam. If you do these things other users might give you more merit because you are helping community and people like what you are posting.

Have you make out time to check the members whom you said receives 4 for just 3 post?, try do that and after then compare their post and all the ones you have posted before to see the difference, actually you seriously need to improve on your posting because it has a very poor quality and from the 25 posts I counted from you no one is capable of receiving any merit, perhaps you were feeling that the higher post you make is the higher merit you will be giving, actually is not how it is, so I believe by now you have known the reason why you have not receive anything more than one, so make sure that you improve on your quality

How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?

It is not about your number of posts but about the quality post contributions you’ve done in the forum. Having an 100 post does not mean you have 100 quality posts that are worth meriting. Coming to the forum earlier and having more posts than the one who just joined newly does not mean that you’ll have merits than them in the long time, the quality contribution here matters. Your quality of post also depends on the useful knowledge you have acquired here or elsewhere and you’re sharing in back to the forum for members to benefit from. So if you want to up your merit, continue doing quality posts and have the notion of not putting merit as a priority always, then see how you grow in the forum with your merit count increase.

You crown it all the forum way of merrit to any individual with quality post has shown too well that is not all about posting junk but quality as the word quality is standing a chance of been merited, one don't need know any body for you to be Merritt  just as good thing attract so is good post all attract and merit is always a reward to such post.

Merit is a reward to quality contribution to the forum, and the quality contribution includes: Posting quality contents that will be useful to the forum members, asking reasonable questions that can help many people in the forum, and also given positive contribution to the forum by answering questions or responding to serious and helpful discussions in the forum.

The pressure of hunting for merits should not lead you to copy and paste contented in this forum because Plagiarism is totally prohibited in this forum and it will lead to your account to being banned, and also make sure you remove the aim of getting merits in your mind, and keep posting quality contents; merits will come in excess.

Your posts are not merits worthy that is why you don’t have enough merits, while the person or the account you saw with merits if you check the account posts, you will notice the difference.

In addition to everything said, it can be a good idea when you start in the forum to participate in your local board (if any). Some local boards are a good place to earn some merits while you learn. Otherwise, you'll have to resign yourself to earn merits gradually as you learn and make better posts, like most users did, or find out how to be an exception writing great content since the beginning.

The number of posts is not the key factor that determines the number of merits you will earn in the forum.

I just checked your post history; your posts are not even up to one line, and they don't carry informative words, and the are also in a section most people here don't visit. That is why you don't have merit, because it seems you have your target of joining this forum, which is why you are doing what you are doing, which is fine if you are certified because that's what we are always after in this forum.

However, read this thread; it will guide you on how to go about this forum, and some of this information you may need will be answered in the thread.

I can see that you’ve been in the forum for a long while now and are still struggling to earn merit; however, the fact is that you put merit in your front. You are not really here to learn; rather, you are chasing merit to rank up, which is why you still find it difficult to earn merit.

Your posts need to be worth merit before they merit you need to be a quality poster; furthermore, the board in which you are active and. Posting the forum members is not much active there; you need to visit boards like Beginners and help the bitcoin discussion board. Make quality content, and you will have people who will merit you.

Now you rest as you have 1 merit.  Grin
You registered in the forum since last year February and you have been actively posting in the Collectibles board since then. However what I observed about that section is that lot of people aren't interested in posting there mostly merits sources). If you want more merits, you need to post more on the general boards and your local board (LB). Not just posting, you have to contribute to the forum by sharing vitals informations and being constructive.

Many of your posts are one-liners in the Collectibles board. You limit yourself to only be visible to people who visit that part of the forum. If you want merits, you will have to put in some more effort. Write quality posts where it matters and take part in genuine discussions. Check the profile of any user on the forum who earns merits, go to their merits page, and have a quick look at what they get merited for. You can then compare their activity to yours to see what they are doing and what you are not. Obviously, you should be yourself and not copy and try to replicate others, but it will give you some ideas.

How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?

Merits are not given based on the number of posts members make, but rather on the quality of the posts. So, if you are all after merits, I would say you should start contributing meaningful information to this forum. And you will see that merits will start coming to your account. However, the truth is that you can't achieve that without having some level of knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general because without that no much valuable things you may be contributing to attract merits.

From your account information, I know that you are not entirely new to the forum anymore because you registered on this forum in February, and it’s getting close to a year now. Therefore, I don’t expect someone like you to be complaining about merits, as you should know by now that you are not doing what deserves merits.in fact, from your post history, I would say you don’t pay attention to the forum, which is why you are finding everything hard.

I think OP only asked an innocent question just like every other curious newbie. OP, the board you visit often which is the collectible may not get you what you are asking about since your posts are mostly single line so you have to be very active in relevant and major boards that merit sources do frequent, they can find your posts worthy of meriting and send to you. However, merit should not be your target for now, put effort in making quality posts and merits you asked about will flow.

How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?

You can’t up your merits by the number of posts but you can up it by your quality posts. You don’t need to post much to get merited. A user with less quality post may have to post up to 100 or more before they get merited because only one of those post maybe be worth meriting while another user with just few posts can get as much merit than you can’t imagine, so have a rethink of how you view the merit system because it doesn’t work that way. You should focus more on building yourself to be better in the forum with quality posts and not get disturbed about merits, they will come once your quality post is worthy of them.
Newbies seem to mistake high volume posts for earning merits, not knowing that merit is given based on the quality of the content and not the quantity, I think any Newbie who can look closely and monitor others in the forum and how the quality of posts with the most merits are generated, with time and dedication, ops will start seeking some merit being shared with him by other members who want to appreciate his quality contributions to forums discussion.

Best for ops to just look away from merits hunting because that is the fastest way to become depressed from the inability to generate his expected merits due to his posts failing under merit-able posts.

How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?
What’s the purpose of you joining the forum? Did you join because you want to be making positive contributions to the forum, or do you join because you want to be receiving merit after posting? If you make more than 23 posts, you might not still receive merit, if you take your time to check the forum, you will see accounts that have made so many posts and haven’t received any merit. You should know that it’s not about how many posts which you have don, you might just write a comment and will receive so many merits. What people are after is quality posts, and not numbers of posts.

I notice that you have received a merit, after so many posts, finally you have been merited, but my question is that, what are you going to be doing with the one merit that you received? I'm sure you joined the forum just to rank up and make money, but from the look of things, you are finding it difficult to rank up, and if you don’t change your mindset, then you won’t be able to rank up, because merit is not gotten the way you think.

First thing first, do you understand what merit is and how/why they are given to a post? If you have not understood this, that is the firstbthing to learn and when you understand that , the answer to your concerns would have been provided. Merits does not depend on how many posts you make but on the quality of the post. In other words, one good post can earn you many merits far more than hundreds of bad quality posts. But try to resist the temptation of using AI to make post thinking that is how to make quality post. Be original, read and learn so you will be able to follow discussions and contribute meaningfully.

Number of posts does not matter for getting merit. to get merit you must have knowledge. Posts should be made in a place and manner that will benefit others or be liked by a merit source or someone who has smerit. Then they can give you merit. But if you don't know how to post well then you won't get merit even if you post thousand.

It is a decentralized forum where you can easily track who is giving merit to whom on which post and can get ideas from them on what you need to do to get merit.

One can never say which post he will get guaranteed merit.  Here everyone starts discussion, help, research on various topics and gets merit in that.

Post quality you provide in this forum
If you have sense discussing some matters that impress people.
You are helpful for other people when they ask something.
Join certain task or contest since possibly you can get a merit there.

For sure many more factor and I just list those basic things you need to look forward so that you can earn some merits from people. But also maybe better not to think about getting it just focus on your activity and join lots of discussion since provably that you could just get it if you have patience and eager to improve in this forum.

There is no big deal here, you can up your merit when you make quality post, solve other people's problems and create an awareness on crypto scam, when you do all these things you're likely going to earn merit. The user that have 3 posts and 4 merit,I believe you went through his profile to confirm if what he posted was worth meriting otherwise he was helped by a high rank member.Never beg for merit because if you do you're likely not going to receive it, begging for merit is against the merit rules. What you ought to do as a newbie is to carry out your own research on the crypto community so that you can start making construction quality posts to earn merit as you wish.

Upping your merit in the forum has nothing to do with how many posts you have posted in the forum. As long as your posts are not solving problems in the forum, you will always find it hard to up your merit in the forum. I just checked your profile, and I found out that all the posts you have posted in the forum are just two and a half lines, and you will find it very difficult to up your merit with such posts because most forum members will see you as a shit poster. If you want to start upping your merit in the forum, you have to change your posting pattern. If you can be posting posts that are always solving problems in the forum, then you are likely to up your merit in the forum.

This is about how useful the writing you post here is for those who read it or for this forum or for the ongoing discussion. Try to imagine what kind of post would make you feel helped after reading the post. And of course you will immediately be interested in appreciating the writing. And you might immediately give Merit if you already have it. By the way, you should also read how the Merit system works in this forum and the rules therein.

In this section of the board there are also posts that you can read to broaden your insight in understanding merits. Like this one. Newbies - Read before posting.

Or if you feel that the writing or post you have made is of adequate quality but Merit Source has missed it. Then you only need to bring your post to the Topic created specifically by Merit Source to accommodate quality posts that can be sent by each user here in the topic provided so that they can review it and give Merit if the quality of your post is worthy. One that is still active is this one. [Merit] Share your best posts/threads with Fillippone to be merit assessed

But remember to read the regulations first before you make a report containing your post there. But the advice I have for you is to first enjoy your adaptation and learning process here. because quality will be obtained as the insight you gain increases and which you can share here.

You can increase your merits by contributing to the forum. Contributing to the forum means posting constructive posts or high quality posts. Things you shouldn't do are using AI generated content and beg anyone to give you merits. Each member have their own criteria on how they give their merits. For example, my criteria is I give merits to those who post high quality content without using any tools or AI which means they personally wrote it and then they posted it.

You get merited when you deliver quality,  quality post gets people to meriting you as a way of encouraging you to do more becod the value they gw tod your post but then sometimes people may see value from your post and they may not have smertis to share so they will just pass, in that case you cannot see it like they have refused to merit you, they just didn't have but anyways keep delivering good post maybe some day a merit source may notice you and merit your quality post, you can aswell apply on threads where they get to review your best and quality submitted post and they merit it.

Everything that others have already suggested in this thread is good advice, so hopefully you learn something from this.  I can understand the desire to gain more privileges on the site through earning merit.  However, simply asking about it doesnt provide much value.  Instead, I would encourage focusing on contributing thoughtful, quality posts that helps the community.  Over time good contributions tend to get recognized. And theres nothing more to it.

How do you Up your Merit? i have 23 post and none, some have 3 post and 4 merit? wtf?

Went through your post history and there was no information there for me to grab. Just one or two lines posts with no quality information to pass. If you continue writing that way, you might likely hit over 1k posts count without any merits. I believe you must have been seeing those posts that earn up to 3 to 4 merits, they have vital information to pass. I am surprised you are wondering why you can't earn merits yet  Grin You should read more and make some researches to improve your knowledge and your writing skills.

Navigate other boards because I can see majority of your posts are only in one board. Read even if you have nothing to contribute, with time you will do better. I look forward to seeing some good posts from you.

Merits given to users are depends on the liking of the readers. Some could even drop bigger than that based on the enthusiasm the users. Well if a user quality exceed expectations then likely he can received a lot of merits. Same goes to some comment or post that dont have effort of course youll not received any merits for that.

If you check the OP's history, it's easy to see that he's most interested in collecting and selling his coin. So telling him that he should visit the forum more often, be useful to the forum, etc., is useless in this case.
But a question for the OP. Why do you need merits? Your answers in the threads are one-line and can't arouse people's interest or provide any useful news. You can sell your coin without merits.

You could only get merit if a member gave you one, so you are not going to earn merit just based on the number of your posts, you cant convince anyone to get you merit the easiest way to get one is just to continue posting here in the forum something that is going to be useful, or probably reply to some of the thread about there problems, most of the time a lot of members here is going to give you a merit if you have a quality post or you help them with there problems. That's the easiest way that I could explain it.

In the long run, you should not prioritize merit or be worried about it as long as you are doing a lot of useful things in the forum eventually you are going to get it, just dont make it your priority to focus on doing quality posting.

My advice is to start your cryptocurrency journey, starting investing, participating on projects, etc, and then you have something that you could post here, if you need advice, you encounter some kind of problems a lot of members can easily here you here, plus your already building your portfolio that way.

You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts.

Maybe you have made 25 posts that are  totally meaningless or probably nobody finds your post helpful or informative enough to merit it. Merits ain't given based on the number of posts you have made. Sometimes just one post can give you enough merits. So you can't just be going around posting trash in the name of having post courts and expect it to be merited. If you want merits, then improve the quality of your postings.

That's also my question when I was still a newbie. But along the way, you will understand that knowledge indeed is an advantage. The more you become passionate of what you are doing, the more you value quality over quantity, the higher chances you will earn merits faster that the others. Although competition is not visible as we are one family and association here, but it pays to be more knowledgeable and patient when it comes to forum's merit system.

If you want your merit to grow, do one or more of the following;
1. Engage in threads that profers solution and not generic threads like this one
2. Learn about bitcoin and make high quality posts
3. Some are good friends of merit sources, they are likely to receive more merits than you
4. Be natural and less merit conscious
5. Don't beg for it, else you will end up in people's ignore list.

Basically, merit is given to quality posts that are worthy of getting the merit itself, which is usually quality posts that are useful, full of the latest or updated information, and have many benefits for users, especially on this forum. For an example of a post that is quality and useful for many users, you can see @TryNinja's post [TELEGRAM]Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT. From the post, you can certainly conclude how useful the post is, not only does it contain important information but it also has a function to help users in this forum to get easier access, and that is why in just one post, he can get a lot of Merit.

The name itself says 'merit' and its meaning is clear: Merit refers to the quality or action by which a person is worthy of recognition, respect, award, or reward. Basically, it is what makes someone deserving of something positive. If you haven't received it, it's because you don't deserve it yet. I recommend contributing positively to the forum. It's not a short path, but it's worth taking.

Questions like this is one of reason why you still didn't got merit. Asking about merit is one most frequent question between newbies. You didn't bothered to Google it and find answer.
I looked at your post history - you made just 25 posts and almost all of it is just simple one liners. So far you haven't posted merit worthy content.

Patience is a virtue, get it and apply wisdom in all you do. Ensure to take your time to be highly creative and outstanding in your posts. Don't just write because you want to increase your posts or activities daily. Take your time to pounder over what you want to post and ensure it is captivating and creative before making the post. You can also check for ongoing competitions and quiz and partake. By this these you will have the opportunity to get at least one merit from the organizers of the competitions or quiz. But in all ensure you exercise patience and creativity in what you do. You can read articles and magazines to be more exposed and increase your knowledge so as to be more creative.

I just checked your history and all of the posts you created are oneliner and generic those kinds of posts are usually ignored by other users while scrolling in the discussion so if you want to have merits under your profile then concentrate on quality rather than quantity then sooner or later your contribution will be recognized by fellow members and may be rewarded with merits too.

The number of merits does NOT directly correlate with the number of posts. Moreover, for one post you can get 1+ merits, and for another (tens, hundreds, thousands) - none.

Here is the answer to your question, which is in the your title.- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.59154903

Looking ahead (or back to the past), my starting point was merit-source, which gave me hope that it was possible to achieve a higher rank. I admit that at that moment it seemed impossible to me and I had no motivation at all. I feel that you are also confused and don't understand how to progress further.

Specifically for this post, I can say that you should stop comparing yourself (and your results) with others and focus only on your actions. Just read other people's interesting comments, communicate and one day the merits will catch up with you.

Hey newbie homies, let's learn together in this forum. As far as I know you have to make a contribution, make something interesting, make something useful just to get merit, that's all.

In one of the threads pinned on the local board in Bahasa Indonesia, several users offer tips on how to increase rank and get merit bonuses (you can learn the tips by using a machine translator).

Merit is not based on the number of posts.

Look at some of the following members, who are still ranked newbies even though their number of activities has fulfilled one of the requirements to become Legendary;

In your opinion, what is the reason why the two users above are still newbies?

If you want to up your merit, the first thing you need is upping your post quality, but not upping your post counts.

Merit system was launched to control spammers, block spammers at low ranks like newbies or Junior members, and to highlight quality posts with merit. If you don't have quality posts, forget about merit.

Welcome message.
Merit & new rank requirements.
Forum rank

When you start out, you are a Newbie, and you will run into various annoying limits. These limits will be reduced to the point where you shouldn't usually notice them after you have participated in the forum for a few weeks. If you are on the forum to talk, then that's all you really need to know about rank. Don't worry about it too much, and you will eventually rank up.

If you want to maximize your rank, then you need to increase two statistics which are listed on your profile:
  • Activity, which is maximized by posting once per day on average. Posting more than that is useless in raising your activity.
  • Merit, which is gained by making good posts.

If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity.

When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting.

Knowledge is a subject that gives people infinite power and awakened courage and innovative power. If you want to establish yourself in the forum, then you have to be very diligent, you have to research about the posts of different categories of people and try to post quality posts constantly. If you develop your talent properly and gain a lot of knowledge and experience, then you will see that you will also be successful with a good reputation in the merit list.
