Thanks everyone for your useful comments and references!

Will the upcoming research be more specialized in the sense that the concept of privacy will be strengthened, awareness of problems that may occur, and so on?
Thank you that mentioned it. For now I have a very basic set of questions to uncover main trends of usage and may be not very obvious ones. Although, I've thought on this topic and it should be touched separately.

Unfortunately, many people use their phones or devices not connected to the VPN to check that a transaction has arrived and thus explorers are considered a loophole that leads to the identification of many people.
also, only few run them full node wallet

I completed your survey. I hope it helps in the research you are conducting.

I prefer mempool.space. I used to navigate to Blockchair and Blockstream in the past, but I find mempool.space much faster and more lightweight. And there are no ads and other nonsense. When it comes to use cases, most people use block explorers to check the status of a sent/received transaction. It's not the most recommended method to do it, especially over the clearnet. Blockchain explorers are great honeypots that hold data on who searches and looks for what, since most of the times people are looking at their own addresses.

At least when you use one, you can pick a site that works over TOR. Or just check the status of your transactions in your native wallet app and don't lookup your own addresses over blockchain explorers at all. It's hard to stick to it though.  Grin

It is a very first research to collect opinions and experience. Now researching opportunities for products related or based on explorer capabilities
In addition to the survey in question, you might want to also check the "comments" column [and some of the posts] from the following thread: List of useful Bitcoin block explorers
- Despite having subjective ratings, it'd be nice to see another explorer (if there'll be any) that could compete with the top 5 on that list.

You may consider adding option 'own hosted explorer' for that (minority I guess) users who run their own node & additional servers.

Selecting "no" to the 2nd question brings "What software/services do you use in your work with crypto?" - it could be a little out of scope, but you may also consider adding it to the main survey.

I filled the survey since it's not required logged in to google account. Anyway, i have few thought and question
1. About question "For what purposes mainly are you dealing with crypto?", it'd be great if people can choose more than option. I expect there are some people who use cryptocurrency as both investment and purchase (if they use service which accept cryptocurrency).
2. Is this your first research? If no, do you mind share link to your past research?

Hi everyone!
As a blockchain enthusiast I'm conducting research on how people use BTC blockchain explorers. Looking for ways to present the most useful insights from blockchain in a fast and simple manner.
If you deal with crypto in any way and use blockchain explorer, please pass my survey by the link below. It will take about 3-5 minutes. You will help a lot to understand what is important to crypto specialists while searching information in blockchain.
Link to the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfulxnQX2cE-nD5EFt8-wBL3v6SqccdCYcERK0CqPXIahbM0A/viewform?usp=sf_link
All the data collected anonymously, and will be used for research purposes only.
Thank you very much!
