Actually the whole ID thing is bullshit (exchanges not wanting to trade fiat as need kyc) you shouldn't need to send id to ant exchange ever if you have a linked bank" account and make payment to and from that. Every bank in the world needs to complete stringent KYC. so if your banks link and thats where the money goes and comes from they can point to exactly who it is ... makes you wonder why its been made so difficult?

Since I started with crypto I've been looking for a way to convert crypto to fiat in a anonymous or semi-anonymous way but have found about nothing.
I'm not comfortable sending copies of my passport/id to exchanges, but I would be comfortable just giving my name, address, etc like I do when creating a stocks trading account. The only prepaid card I found for the time being is advcash, but they have a limit of 250usd and then you have to verify yourself, besides that I've found no good solution. How do you do? Do you all really send copies of your passport/id to exchanges? wouldn't that go against the spirit of cryptos?
I dont know if this helps you out, but I will tell you some sort of alternative that I do since the entire wave crest situation.
I found a bunch of casinos that take bitcoin as a deposit and allow you to withdraw skrill or some other sort of fiat.
I deposit my bitcoin, i play 15% of the funds on roulette ( some casinos require some retarded rule of 35x bets, but u can easily avoid those shitty ones ).
I bet 1$ on red, 1$ on black so it's an even bet. Then I proceed to withdraw to my bank account. I declare my incomes and pay taxes. In my country, if income from gambling doesn't exceed $200,000, taxes are just 3%. You can also use skrill's debit card.
This is NOT PERFECT, but it's how I adapted to the wave crest issue. Hope it helps.
You do mean playing on a roulette with have the same bet? That's way too risky. Havent you consider on hitting up that green? Its a sure loss when you hit it up.Going back into topic, id verifications doesn't really depend on your knowledge towards trading site. All do have the equality since each exchanger do have its own rules and regulations to follow. You can start out on standard ones which you can only trade up with very minimal deposits/withdrawals or in short having a limit,if you don't like limits then you would need to send out documents.

I do find this aspect of Bitcoin annoying.  I would have to renew my passport / drivers license to get the $'s safely or take a risk with total strangers on the internet.

that is not an "aspect of bitcoin", that is an aspect of "fiat"!

and it has always been like this, whenever you want to do something similar to buying bitcoin (anything else you can think of) using fiat, you have to use your identification unless you are doing it with cash and face to face.
for example if you want to buy stocks, or participate in Forex trading you will have to do the same verifications.

Get your main point but personally, when I buy socks with my CC from an online shop or even a local high street shop, I am not asked to verify my ID.  Perhaps your socks just cost a lot more than mine!

Large scale, green crypto mining ICO
I tried Kraken but they demanded me to verify myself because of "strange ip behaviour".
I think it's because I'm using a vpn and logged in with a server from a country other than the one
that I'm registered in.

Change ip, change internet.

Local bitcoin, Kraken to certain amount and try to find a local dealer.
I'm selling my coins to my local dealer. He don't even know  my last name
And you can find a local dealer on LocalBitcoins, no need to register, you just click a profile of a most trusted dealer and they provide their telephone number and (in case of my city) even their office address. Yes, they have an office Smiley so there are very low chances you'll get scammed.

All the ways that keep anonymity are very risky. I think it's best to sacrifice anonymity. But the fact that you have provided your ID does not mean that you get access to any exchange. Now there are many restrictions on countries of residence. Fiat is a very adjustable system.

By the way, I think I've found a solution.
Have anyone of you tried BitPanda?
I made an account at BitPanda and tried sending a few dollars by normal bank transfer to
my European account and it worked flawlessly. Haven't tried with higher amounts though.
They only do bank transfers to European accounts, but they also have other interesting options
like changing your coins for amazon.de vouchers.
All this you can do and more, you can do without any verification at all.
I don't even remember I had to verify my email!

It's a legit and reputable exchange however If you are starter, you will need to verify your email address (I believe that's what you are right now) at least and as for Bronze, a phone number verification. Anything above (larger amounts) will require verifying your ID.

There are people on the Bitcoin forum that can do trades of Bitcoin-fiat. I suggest that you open a thread in the marketplace section and title it selling Bitcoin for PP/ Fiat. However most people aren't willing to do trades with a non-trusted member. They will probably also require an escrow and will probably only do small amounts to avoid scams. Escrows might charge small fees, but i think it's better than having Bitcoin but being unable to liquidise. Good luck Cheesy

Trident Protocol | Simple «buy-hold-earn» system!
Every transaction of bitcoin converting into fiat or local currency always need valid i.d to claim. If you have more bitcoins and you don't want to use your valid i.d for verification ,i think you should cry for your coins and say goodbye to your precious bitcoins and quite  leave crypto world. You don't need to felt afraid using your valid i.d if you didn't do wrong.

Well, if you do not want to do that, then you would have to say goodbye to converting your crypto into fiat into the easiest ways and the safest ways. Because clearly, going p2p is never safe because anything can happen. That is of course unless you know personally the person you are trading with. But hey, if you wanna risk it, then that's your choice. But other than that we really have no choice because in a place like this, everyone just wants to be sure including exchanges. That is what you need to understand.

In your case you cannot do trading in any exchanges because government id / passport id is needed before you access in their site and most of the trading market required that for security reasons, So I suggest trade your coins or token to other users or member or p2p by that you can still make earnings.

None of the major exchanges allow you to trade in crypto, if you don't have ID verification. In that case, the only option left for you is the highly risky peer-to-peer transfer. But the risk of getting scammed is extremely high in such cases, as there is no third party in between the buyer and seller.

Kraken lets you trade cryptos and deposit/withdraw fiats without having to provide ID verification, as long you don't need to deposit/withdraw over $20,000 monthly. You give your name, last name, DOB, address, and phone number and you're good to go.

I'm not comfortable sending copies of my passport/id to exchanges, but I would be comfortable just giving my name, address, etc like I do when creating a stocks trading account.

You send them your social security number when signing up for a stock trading account as it is required by law from the SEC. Giving someone your social is much more serious than these big exchanges asking for an ID or Passport.

SSN is serious data, and SEC mandated it to get hold of all Cryptocurrency users of USA, but the same is not true for the rest of the world. In my county, I can easily trade bitcoin without providing any government ID but in small amounts which goes according to my previous transaction history.

For example, If my usual transaction volume is 20k in a month, I can exchange bitcoins for a smaller amount like 15k every month. It won't raise any alarm. But if I suddenly exchange a bigger amount like 60-70k in one go, my bank will ask for an explanation and they might freeze my account if suitable explanation can't be provided.

I recommend to use Localbitcoins website. I am not sure about USA and other countries, but in my county, there are a lot of buyers available who won't ask for ID verification. The only requirement is bank account number and you good to go. But make sure not to exchange in big amounts.

It does go against bitcoin and crypto but people no longer care as long as they are making profit apparently. You can forget about using cards without having to send your passport etc. because the banking system is very strict about these things, same with reputable exchanges. I would advice trading with individuals instead using P2P platforms with PayPal, cash face to face etc.
Recommending using PayPal to buy BITCOIN (or any other cryptocurrency) is dumb af given PayPal’s hard anti cryptocurrency stance you’ll be in for a load of trouble
