But if a newbie does this, how will they know who to trust and trade with? the more sensible thing to do would be to change from depth2 to depth 1
Manually look up the trust history for the person you are considering doing a deal with.

please explain, i have been reading all morning and still i dont know

You should not concern yourself with Default Trust at all.

In fact, the first thing you should do, is remove default trust from your profile, and start building your own trust list over time.

Also Quickseller, since you are the robinhood of scammers (and fight for the freedom of the idiots!), I have well over 2 BTC currently invested at Just-Dice. Feel free to chat sometime with us clamers, we enjoy new company!
You should probably divest that 2 BTC and repay BigBlitz

You call BS on everything. Nothing new there. Why would I, a -64 trusted account over nothing I still argue feel obligated to report someone on the F-ed up system known as the Default Trust. Hey, maybe if he does sell his trust and someone scams maybe then people will see how many flaws there are in the system.
I call BS when it is BS, and in this case, if you are going to refuse to provide any kind of proof, then I am right. There is no reason for anyone to trust your word, as it is worthless

Buy it. Thats the quickest way but ultimately the most expensive.

There is one user on default trust 1 that I have contacted personally and they gave me a price they would accept for putting an alt of my choosing on default.

However, the sum was in the thousands of USD worth so ultimately probably not worth it.
I am going to call BS on this. Without as much as a PM quote (or more preferably, a confirmation from a global mod/admin after you report the PM to them), then you are just trolling.

The only real advantage to trust/high feedback is having people send first when trading. If you do not trade or offer services there is no reason to need feedback/trust here.

gee, this looks awfully familiar to a thread a few days ago titled "how to become escrow?" funnily enough, the OP of that thread ended up becoming a scammer shortly afterwards and is now looking to buy an account  Cheesy

I think it is very rare to be added into default 1, but no so hard for lvl 2. Just be honest with people and keep a level head and you will get trusted by someone eventually.

going to the marketplace section and making some purchases is usually a good place to start gaining some trust, eventually you might do a deal with someone in depth 1.
But i have nothing to buy or sell or trade
So you have no point to gain trust. Ppl who have gain green trust will be easy to do business here.

As others have said only really two ways: be very trusted and be trusted to leave accurate ratings. It takes time to get on there and for good reason. I wouldn't make it a goal to get but over time if you deserve to be on there you'll likely achieve it eventually whether on level one or two.

I saw someone get a neutral rating from a person in trust 1 and now they are in trust 2, how can this be?

Trust ratings and trust lists are two different things. If you have someone in your trust list then you will see their trust reports by default, as will people that have you in their trust list.

If you give a trust rating/trust report then you are reporting either a scam or a successful trade (or otherwise making comments about the trustworthiness of the person)

ok, let me make this clearer, how does one get into depth 2?
You need to be added by someone in depth 1.
The longer answer is that you need to show the ability to be trusted, you need to be somewhat active in giving ratings, you need to give accurate ratings. You also will probably need to maintain some kind of working relationship with someone in level 1

To get into trust depth two, you need somebody from depth one to add you to their trust list.

Correct, but it is dependant on the trust depth you set in the trust settings, no?

Yes but in a sense, if you change the trust depth, it will no longer be 'default' trust list. I might have overlooked 'default' when it comes to default trust list though.

Also, DefaultTrust is owned by theymos, correct?

Yes. DefaultTrust is controlled by theymos.

Or does any admin/global mod, like badbear, also have control over it?

I don't know if anyone else can control it but I think only theymos can.

P.S. thanks for clarification, I edited my first post.

Anytime and thanks for correcting!

Accurate judgement and trustworthiness will get you into default trust list. People who go for default trust list are less likely to get into it than people who don't.

DefaultTrust is a user created by theymos, on trust depth 0.  The people on trust depth 1 are the people that are on DefaultTrust's (theymos's) trust list.  They were added to start the trust network, I believe, or something like that.  To get into depth 1, you would have to be on DefaultTrust's trust list.

Theymos has different trust list. DefaultTrust's trust list and theymos's trust list are different. Also, DefaultTrust's trust list and default trust list are different.

DefaultTrust's trust list is trust list of the admin-controlled account 'DefaultTrust'.
Default trust list is the trust list a user have until they change it. A default trust list consists of people in DefaultTrust's trust list, the people trusted by them and the user itself.
