That is like asking why do people invest in clear ponzi schemes? They want to get rich quick and sadly will take some shortcuts to get there. Also sadly is the fact the shortcuts often times makes things worse.
In fact, in my opinion, bitcoin's work does not need to be equal to everyone. Many people work for what they do and they get money. Many people do nvest on bitcoin and it's nothing bad. But since this is the way money is needed to invest again. It can not be said that you will always get good results in investing. You can make a profit and invest in it, but it can be loser again.
