To be honest to all of you about this, I think that next bubble won't make it over 3k $. Those predictions of 8k are a little bit unrealistic.

Depends on the timeframe and definition of bubble aswell.
Next bubble might be 2016 when bitcoin halves.

I hope bitcoin will hit 100k someday so I can be filthy rich  Cool

I actually hope that the next block halving will take place in 2015! If the miners are fast enough and new hash rate gets deployed constantly, the re-adjustments will be well below the approximate 12 days on every adjustment!

For sure, but I just don't believe it will get up to 8k in just a month. It will take time to get close to that value no matter when it happens.

3-5K. Your poll options are too high.

Fonzie used to be an uber-bear. He turned bullish at some point, and as it usually is with people who do a 180 degrees turn, he became an uber-bull. So his forecasts aren't $ 10 USD anymore, but rather $ 10k USD now... I guess it's more reasonable than $ 10 USD Cheesy

Simplistic statement:
Bears usually have no bitcoin and don't want people getting rich quick.
Bulls have bitcoin and want to get rich quick.

Maybe he finally bought in and wants to make money now Smiley

Ha, I absolutely subscribe to your statement! You're totally right. I though that myself for some time as well, especially in terms of ASICMiner shares. Many people who shun Bitcoin just don't want it to succeed because they'd be left out. And since they don't want to take a risk they hope no one else profits, as well. Very simple, yet spot on explanation!

Bitcoin can't get past the price of a troy ounce of gold without willy or some other fuckery.

This is a psychological barrier. A BTC van easily surpass a troy ounce of gold if we break this psychological barrier by calling it mBTC. This doesn't do anything for bitcoin itself but it will brainfuck everyone into believing they have more Smiley

A poll can tell alot about a person
A greedy person will walk away with 50k. Looking at the poll options I estimate that you have between BTC2.5 and BTC6.25. Probably less... Tongue

Probably around 4-5k. It's not the same as previous bubbles, much more fiat is needed to fuel it.

Why is the lowest option $8000? I feel like the next bubble will be much smaller than that.

I am hoping it will make it to at least 5k at the peak of the next bubble.

Why does everyone around here talk about bubbles as if they are a good thing? You know all bubbles burst because they are unsustainable, right? I sincerly hope there is no bubble, ever. I do expect the value of Bitcoins to rise though.

BTC price is like a bubble. It dropped from ~$1000 to ~$400 like bubble bursts. As the above post, it is speculation, we have to dream how much the bubble goes whether the bubble bursts or not. Roll Eyes

My bet is 8000$, after the peak the value would drop in the 2000 / 3000 $ range.

It's because this is the speculation sub-forum so many people here want wildly fluctuating prices to create day-trading opportunities.

Oh yes, of course that does make a sort of sense. I was thinking ppl just wanted to see the price going up and hadn't quite grasped that it is perfectly possible to have very dramatic price rises without it being a bubble, but if its because people want to try to time the market on massive bubble swings then good luck to them - they'll need it.

Looking at the one year chart is REALLY nice though. There is the spike, the drop, then a solid recovery.

Compare it to the April 2013 bubble, which is a tiny footnote to the 2013/2014 bubble. Imagine if that will be a footnote to the next bubble? Grin

It's fun to think about. Cool

They are exciting, that's why Cheesy

But yeah. It would indeed be better for the ecosystem overall if there weren't any.
