Summer is very hot, but we are going into winter and it gets cool on the high veld , so we're good until summer , then I am going to have to rethink cooling

First, they're a lot less big that I imagined them. I always represented the S7 as an ASIC with the shapes of a S4. Also, can you still do your gym in this piece ? Three pieces of such miners should produce an unsupportable noise.

Lol as is the case with most home-gyms I never use mine, I prefer to go to a public gym.  The noise is deafening, but luckily the garage seperates the room from the rest of the house.

My electricity cost is R1.64  so about $0.11 per kwh but Bitcoin can be sold at at least a 10% premium over the international price in SA,,  although this difference is dropping, a month ago there was a 15% premium

I doubt I will ever make lots of profit,, but it is fun

So funny the story of the public gym but so true Cheesy ! Nice electricity rate that you have there. Isn't the heat a problem in South Africa ? Even if that's the country the most at the South of Africa (pretty logic name Cheesy), it might be hot, no ?

i checked the specification its take Power Consumption: 1293W ±10% and you have 3 s7 ? is it ur house can take that much electric ? and how you pay your house electric bill dude ??  Shocked Shocked Shocked

minimum for every apartment is 3kw, so 1300w is nothing you can even go higher, if your wachine machine is a class efficient

mine for example is not, it consume 2400w as a peak so i can only spare 900(3300 is the real maximum)

Im a miner who just started up in south africa about 3 months ago. only got 2 machines though Grin would be nice to see a group of south african miners here.
didn't know it was so popular locally

in africa there are some place with cheap electricity it should not be so hard to know someone elsse that is mining already

you're lucky that you have a cheap electricty, it would be my dream to have it too, i would invest big in mining if that was the case, not bitcoin mining though...

Jeez can nobody read? There are only 2 connected to 1 point. The third is connected to a completely different circuit

In SA a point is 16amp

3KW is for one single power point from the main, which is limited by the thickness of the wire and also with all safety considerations.

The OP is connecting 3 x S7 to the same point, which is equivalent to almost 4KW. This is definitely not recommended.

It's actually on two different circuits, there is a second cable coming in from top  so 2 on one circuit,, then the fan + 1 s7 plus small network switch on the other.

My energy meters arrived today, so I'll see how much each one is drawing.

Power to the house is not a problem, I have 3 phase, 60 amp per phase coming in

Clean and neat setup you have there.

It would be interesting to see other South African mini farms.

Now time will tell what the cost is to run those little monsters.

I think it will be better for the hot air to be drawn out of the room directly, rather than relying on natural air flow.

Normal UK plug has a max current of 13A. Therefore the max is 13 x 240 = 3120 W. You are drawing 3 x 1200 + fan (assumed 100W) =~ 4000W = dangerous of burning wire in the long run. Hope we still remember the fire incident in Thailand:

This one is a Kenwood,, the brand is pretty popular in South Africa,,  and I think UK,, I have a whole bunch of them - they come in handy

Lucky we are just going into winter now, I will have to look into AC and pulling more circuits through from the dB when we get to summer if I want to add miners

I have one of those fan's your using (I believe it's lasko if I remember right).  I used it before I went bigger drum fan's.  But you picked a good fan.

I really like fan's using old knobs you adjust speed.   A lot of the new ones with electric buttons if power is lost turn off and stay off till turned on.  But with good old knob if power is off and comes back on they come back on.
