How long have you been gambling, and have you already figured out how to win? If yes or no, please explain.

I've been gambling on horses since 2014 was betting offtrack. I just stopped a few years ago because of work and study; I don't have much luck betting because I seldom hit the winner-take-all-all jackpot. I hit it once, but unfortunately, there were so many winners to share the pot.

It was hard to figure out when it came to horse racing, there are just so many factors to consider like the handicap weight, the breed of the horse, the history of both the horse and the jockey, and of course a late buzz on the condition of the horse hours before the race.

Even though my losses are higher than my winnings, nothing beats the adrenaline rush when the horses you bet on are running and have a chance to win the race, the adrenaline peaks when the horses are down the stretch.

It just came to my mind, and I hope users here will find this topic interesting. This might seem like a simple question, but hopefully it is interesting for some sports bettors, whether we are starting out or have been gambling for years. We will know what makes us continue gambling even if we aren't successful in making money yet, or if we stay because making money in sports betting is very easy.

So please answer this question:

How long have you been gambling, and have you already figured out how to win? If yes or no, please explain.
I don't really understand the question. There are like handful of people who can make a living from gambling, and even that's from skill based games. And those pro gamblers have still great deal of luck involved on their outcome.

Other games, even if you found out how to make a money for a while, there's a risk involved that pretty much guarantees when it hits that you realize that you haven't "figured out how to win". But just that you were lucky, which was the whole point of gambling. It's not a questio of if the system fails, but when it fails. Majority of people who is making the money with gambling owes that to their luck, and they just want to believe they have found the way, instead of accepting it was luck.

I have been gambling for a long time now, about 15 years now and I have tried different forms of gambling. The greatest kill I have learnt in the process is risk management which is being able to many my gambling in such a way that it does not weigh me down or hurt my finances badly. This has helped my sanity so much because it was not easy when I started. I lost beyond expectations simply because I couldn't control my gambling and sometimes I will continue gambling until I  lose everything, then I will cry home. It took me time to pass this stage and enter the stage where I will determine how much I will gamble with even before I start gambling.

I have not met my target in terms of winning but I have had some nice wins. I have a process in place for sports bet and this involves standing the big teams that are in their good form. For instance, at the start of the season, Arsenal, Man City, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munic, all usually go unbeaten, so I combine them weekly and bet. Towards the middle of the season and onward, I will also find team that are in form and combine them too.

It has probably been more than 7 years now since I made my first sports bet on a cricket match and it was because I have always been a lover of the sport. I have been playing cricket since I was a child, and I have always loved it. I used to watch matches and tournaments all the time growing up, I used to know every cricket even as a kid, and I knew which team had more strength and which sides were weak and could easily lose a game, when it comes to sports betting, these are the things that can be helpful for you.

So, since I have always had a lot of knowledge about cricket, I used to place bets on games where I knew which side was going to win for sure. I know that sometimes you tend to lose games where you are sure of the winner but that doesn't happen all the time. In sports betting, luck doesn't go against you all the time but it happens sometimes. So if you have enough knowledge, you can win more games than you lose in the long run.

Been years but the question of have you figured out how to win is a question no one can answer.  If you figured out the secret then everyone would know.  The real secret is not how to win but how to exit with profit.  You win some and you lose some but the real thing you need to figure out is how to exit when you do profit.
Your thought is absolutely right because the answer will seem difficult to everyone. Because there is no one who after gambling has finally won. The only reason for this could be because he could not quit after winning. This is the reality. If we are gambling we can win more or less even though there are losses but what do I measure my gambling winnings based on where we are gambling regularly without exiting. If it was someone who quit gambling after winning then answering this question would be much easier for them. But that is not possible. Here I will answer that no one wins and no one loses because everyone is still gambling. When we can stop gambling we can reach a conclusion.

Been around for years but I never figured out how to win 100%.  There are factors that can affect the result of the match and the variable options given by book maker making winning the bet more complicated.

There are always these variable factors that can affect the outcome of the game even if we have all the data and analysis of the competing teams.  Some of these are injuries during gameplay, team out of sync, team implementing counter strategies, and so on.

I believe, in gambling (specifically sports betting), we can only implement strategy, research, and analysis to enhance our chances of winning but never to secure a win.

Figuring out how to win in gambling I think cannot be achieved on a 100% base band this is because gambling can not sustain a pattern always, it's a game that has high dependency on luck so at the point when you may think you have gotten the pattern, you may later find out that the pattern may at a point get broken and may not work any more, that alone is a reason to know that winning isn't something you can totally achieve by way of a pattern gambling, you only get luckier applying your experience.

It has been so long that it is difficult to remember but it has to be at least 20 years, and while I have made some improvements over such a long period of time I am still not a profitable gambler, however this does not really bother me as I keep my bets low and I only make a bet on the sports I really like and I follow, so my results are probably a little bit better than the ones someone which makes a bet on any sport regardless of their knowledge may get, so at the moment I am happy with how things are.

You have asked a good question. Such questions used to come to my mind from time to time. What I see in my own case is that I have had both gambling wins and losses. But it is hard for me to say that I have benefited much. But I had some big wins. Even if I am not profitable, I hope to be profitable in the future. I made some mistakes in the past due to which mistakes I could not win or even if I won I could not keep the money. I am able to understand much better now than in the past. Although I can't say anything for sure, I hope that if luck favors me, I will definitely be able to profit from gambling as per my expectations. And even if I don't win, I don't have a problem because I use the money that I afford to lose, it won't cause any problem in my life.

I think it's been 3-4 years since I've started gambling? It started a few months ish before pandemic, stopped during the start and just escalated at the middle-end of the pandemic. Even after that I went on and continued gambling, albeit a lot more controlled compare to the first 2 years that I had.

Winning strat? Nope. I mean it varies from game to game and even if I analyze a match for my entire life I can't really determine an answer of which team would end up winning. I've won all sorts of bets before though, from choosing favorites to the underdogs but they're pretty much just close to guesses, assumptions based on what I know. Based on the facts that I won sometimes and lost sometimes, it's not really a recipe for success, or at least a guaranteed success.

Gambling has been a part of my life for close to two years. To be honest, I have not found a foolproof way to win because sports betting is largely dependent on luck, which may or may not favor you at any given time, and other unforeseeable factors. Nonetheless, I do not give up; I strive to gain knowledge on this subject continuously and experiment with different tactics to better the odds. It's true that I've not always made money out of this yet still the thrill and defiance against probability keeps beckoning me back to sports betting.

Gambling, for myself, transcends mere victory or defeat; it involves finding pleasure in the activity itself, studying the game, and experiencing an exhilarating adrenaline surge upon revelation of the outcome. I also grasp the significance of prudent gambling, refraining from staking more than what is dispensable. While a foolproof winning strategy continues to elude discovery, each wager imparts invaluable knowledge and experience, though I am yet to find any clear guidance from these lessons.

I will say I am a beginner in gambling compared to some people. I started gambling when I was in university, which wasn’t really long ago. I was facing some challenges that always make me feel bad whenever I am alone, so my friend introduced me to football and gambling. I started watching football gradually, and whenever I am alone and bored, I will decide to gamble in the matches that they will be playing next. So whenever I am bored and I have some money that I won’t really be using, I do decide to gamble with it.

How long have you been gambling, and have you already figured out how to win? If yes or no, please explain.
Since I have been gambling, I don’t have any strategy that gives me confidence that I will win. All I do is do my analysis carefully, then place my bet, and then I will have to wait for me to be lucky.

I've been betting on sports for just under 10 years, but I enjoy doing it, although of course I think I'm a loser, but not a big one. The fact is that I place these bets rarely and on specific sports that I really like and from which I get great pleasure. I don’t know how to win there, but from time to time I can test different strategies, but not for very long, so I don’t have a large sample and there is no guarantee that it will help me make money.

I make these bets, but not very big ones because it can make me less interested in the match. I even saw that there is a topic about this and such problems can arise if you make a big bet, so I am very careful with the choice of bet and specific match. I play for the quality of the bet, not the quantity.

It has been a while since I started gambling, which roughly means up to 10 to 15 years now. I was introduced to gambling by a friend of mine back then when I was in secondary school because I have that potential for watching sports, and when I predict the score, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, so I was inspired by that, but at first, when I joined gambling, I always lost. Until I discovered the method of playing games as a beginner, you're not supposed to play many games; you just have to play a few that will make you win. So I came back active in gambling, but now I have no fear because I can play any game, not only sports. As long as I can get a profit from it, I am ready to play it. If I know the risk that is involved and it is not above my budget, then that is cool for me. I will join.

I think we all have our own way of gambling on sports betting and it definitely varies. Some gamblers only bet on the favorite team in a match although they have to consider low multiples because the odds are low, but these tend to be winnable. Some other gamblers consider high odds to be a higher risk of losing.

I tend to bet on favorite teams especially on my own team. Whoever the opponent is, I still support them and if I have to bet then I don't like playing against my own team. This is also a habit of other gamblers on sports betting so I am not the only one to have this kind of approach to gambling.

I have been playing sports gambling for several years. Over 20+.
Apart from a few situations where I have won competitions and prizes, there is no "Monstrous" profit from the game and in general it requires a lot of time and stress.

You can easily win small amounts even on a continuous basis.
Over the years I have found various methods but only some bookmakers allow these methods (which are obviously not immune to risks) Roll Eyes
Nowadays, I look more for fun than profit from this hobby. Proof of this is the fact that I very little update my topic with betting suggestions https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitbollo-betting-advice-45-267-13-1-place-tipster-competition-1234109

I've been gambling on sports for over 10 years on and off now and I think the only reliable recipe is to not pay too much attention  Grin

If you come in thinking you'll make s loving from betting on sports you're already s loser. You'll need a stable sourc of income first and a budget to know how to manage your funds. Afterwards you can determine what to bet with but consider that this money is most likely lost and spend for recreation other than income. Otherwise it is very easy to fall in the trsl of chasing profits by taking gambling too seriously.

For me I just like to bet on whatever match I feel like. Because strategy falls only secondary to having fun. And for some fun I wouldn't mind spending some bucks. But no more than my budget.

In my case it's been decades. I remember betting on football in 2005 when we'd buy a couple beers with friends and watch a game. A friend had a computer on his desk in the same room and we'd put some money on the table and he'd make an online bet for us. Good old days Smiley
Did I figure out how to win. The rules is, you bet on the sports that you watch. At least that way if you lose you'll understand why you lost and you'll have some fun hoping to the last minute that the tables will turn.

I have not been gambling too long now. The forum was what even make me to try sports gambling  and gambling in general. My first bet was after I had been accepted into a signature campaign. In these few years, I have learned that the secret to winning is that there is no secret at all if you do the basics. I have also learned that betting on unpopular leagues gives one a higher probability of winning than when you bet on popular leagues like the champions League, Primer league, La Liga and the others. I have won some good money and have lost too.

If you want to win, do not follow public opinion if your research and analysis is telling you otherwise.
