I quess, not. Altcoins cannot beat a bitcoin and take a own system. If we suppose that eth is a altcoin , Eth can overtake bitcoin's place , not other altcoins.

IMO Bitcoin will always be, although it's undergone many changes and most recently these changes happen more often (nov 16th segwit2x and bitcoin silver in dec). It's integrity is strong and it's resistant to any kind of adaptation.
Bitcoin itself is a revolutionary idea, and the community want to keep this as original as possible.
You could say that Bitcoin has been a doorway for all Altcoins, and some of these have been created to take over Bitcoin, but Bitcoin always prevails.

In my opinion, bitcoin is very resistant to change, Unlike other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin has seen surprisingly lack of innovation or evolution. But I believe bitcoin will last long because its community is ideologically committed to maintaining something close to its original design. And also its hard to see who started a revolutionary technology replaced or abandoned.
Bitcoin is resistant to change because it doesn't need to be on a very high level. I think we saw the changes but we can't recognize it, like the chain split in bitcoin are the changes and the segwit2X activation but we still are demanding for more. Bitcoin may adopt some changes but it will slowly and gradually make it's way to it. Some people want bitcoin to change by tomorrow which is not possible. Bitcoin has a long life cycle according to my opinion by looking at the current position of bitcoin. It will lead cryptocurrency for a long time. Bitcoin is a benchmark.  Wink

Bitcoin is in its initial stage. Now it is going to young and go to sky. but at one stage its value stagnate and there will no more variation in its top price. Altcoin will grow relevantly to the bit coin and so many altcoin will go to sky and compete bitcoin.

Bitcoin is ahead of the game, value is high, they keep adapting it with all forks, trying to make it better and different each time.
Altcoins come and go and Bitcoin is always here, even through all the adaptations.
In plain words, Bitcoin lives up to its Legendary reputation!

we are not able to know that any altcoin can beat bitcoin in future or what will happen to the bitcoin but if nothing happens so extraordinary in cryptocurrency, this situation will keep going. There is a lot of distinction between them, it seems impossible that an altcoin beats bitcoin even if bitcoin stay where it is.

Certainly, Altcoins have set their own system. But it is hard to say altcoins will beat Bitcoin. Bitcoin and altcoin like Gold and Silver. They exist together and won't beat each other.

All can be seen with the people here that Bitcoin is one of the first vital currencies that have been made and famous, if Bitcoin never existed then Altcoin will never be created and no other Altcoin, so essentially there will be no Altcoin that can compete with Bitcoin for the price.

I think Bitcoin will last a long time. The decentralized technology is what really drives it + the community and people tired of traditional financial system. Unless there are global regulation against bitcoin or major hack, my guess is it will go for at least 50 years.

For me bitcoin is the future and at this time I do not see any Altcoins taking the place of Bitcoin according to me bitcoin is the father of all the coins first bitcoin came and after that all these altcoins came so father will always remain the father and children's can not take the place of their father.

Can altcoins set up their own systems and beat bitcoins?

I don't think that a already established cryptocurrency specially bitcoin can be beaten or overtaken by any altcoins for now. Although there are really a lot of better coins out there like ETH, but since bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency to gain acceptance from investors, there is no way that it can be overtaken. However, if a new coins comes along in the next 5-10 years that have a significant followers and gain traction from the community, then bitcoin will lose it grip as the top cryptocurrency.

If an altcoin sets up a good system and has millions to advertise it could surely catch up with bitcoin or probably even beat it but this is pure speculation and as did not happen so far it will likely also not happen in the future. The development is progressing and I think bitcoin needs improvements to survice the next decades and we also do not know what the banks plan to do to attack it. It remains exciting what the future will bring!  Smiley

Bitcoin's life for me is everlasting as it is the closest thing we have ever come across when it comes to money. Since the network is voluntary, open source, and decentralized the sky is the limit with this money system as anyone can join, anyone can build on it to make it better, and nobody owns it or controls it. These qualities make it very desirable for long term storage of wealth.

I totally agree with you, I also think it won't last soon and will survive because the trend for bitcoin is very positive and the adoption is getting higher and higher every single day. This makes it to live more than we can ever guess. At least, 20 or 30 years in total.

Next time altcoins will defeat bitcoin, but that will take a very long time for altcoins to do that, altcoins have more potential to replace bitcoin in the future Grin.

In these precise moments they are developing coins with more advanced codes than bitcoin, but I do not know if they can surpass it in popularity. Do not forget that the bitcoin as a pioneer was just the beginning, but everyone else has learned from the mistakes to implement many improvements, so I am not so sure that bitcoin will survive forever.

Can altcoins set up their own systems and beat bitcoins?

I don't think it will happen. Bitcoin might need to undergo several rounds of upgrades and forks and SegWit2x and many more but it will remain to be the force that it is right now, very strong and resilient. The core team may change one member after another but because it is Bitcoin, the one thing Satoshi Nakamoto founded together with Blockchain, it will remain to live for more than a century.
