Just a good news for everyone!

The transaction got confirmed 4 hours ago and the spam attack has been subsided down. Now you can see the unconfirmed transaction is always under 15K before a block is formed.

Anyways if you look into the transaction on Blockcypher (https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/2c8e29c797ec493df08b35b4012029445ea2bc420e32a685e6708f359a0ad5af/) the transaction was broadcasted more than 24 hours ago and the exact time was show there until 1 confirmation and it is showing 4 hours ago. I think all normal transactions got re broadcasted automatically and all spam transactions got rejected.

From what I believe increasing the block size will never solve this kind of problems. Anyone can attack more than what was done yesterday.

Yesterday I bought paypal money in exchange with btc and the deal was smooth as usual.

I sent the bitcoins and the transaction is here > https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/2c8e29c797ec493df08b35b4012029445ea2bc420e32a685e6708f359a0ad5af/

Already 15 hours has passed and not a single confirmation has been done. Will this transaction reverse or just take more time than usual because of blockchain spams transactions?

I do not really think the fees is too low. Is it?
i ever experienced the transaction for 3 days, and very confused by what was happening, but I eventually did not do anything until the transaction was confirmed on the third day. I think, just wait a few days.

Looking at your transaction size it is 1600+ bytes and normal fee per bytes is 30sat so you should have pay 50000 satoshi for smooth transaction. Don't worry if it has some fee assigned it will go thorough after some hours or days.

So far the situations getting better atm im checking the site https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions every hour earlier its about 36k now its 31k hope the issue will be over tomorrow

tomorrow it will be 50k

too much empty blocks from pools , this will happen more and more

and people don't care of this , they will continue to mine at antpool and other fuck.ng chinese pools

Spot on man, even if the block-size was 2 MB if pools aren't filling them with transactions it won't matter.

Just a few examples from today:

  • AntPool - Block 400682  Size 0.2 kb
  • AntPool - Block 400657  Size 0.21 kb
  • BTTC Pool - Block 400627  Size 2.1 kb
  • BTTC Pool - Block 400624  Size 2.63 kb
  • BW.COM - Block 400610  Size 0.22 kb

I am using Blockchain.info's integrated chrome wallet.
That's unfortunate. You can't use RBF then. Please consider using local wallets (Core, Electrum, Multibit).

Heck even now the unconfirmed transaction has reached over 35K! Huh
It is an attack on the network.

Guys please do not suggest here for a blocksize increase because that is a useless suggestion for now.
It is useless because: A) We can't implement it quickly and there is no consensus; B) It doesn't solve anything and we'd be dealing with the same problem.

Increased blocksizes might be a good thing after all Wink
It won't solve the problem.

tomorrow it will be 50k
It is an attack so we can't really know.

As you can see here there is a congestion in the network https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions maybe someone is spamming the network, which is why even the transactions with the normal fees are taking too long to confirm, but it will ultimately subside and when it does, your transaction should go through.

I haven't experience this transactions maybe its because I don't have much of it. I am even innocent to transact this kind of process. I am not even sure if this is safe for me or if I am doing the right thing. Or should I trust someone if ever I need this and have everything process out. I really need to learn a lot from here.. Thank you setting this example.

What wallet are you using? Maybe it is time to try out the Replace-by-fee feature now.

Be safe and use a .0005 fee until we get a blocksize increase.
It is an attack, a block size increase wouldn't help much.

I am using Blockchain.info's integrated chrome wallet.

Before I sent the transaction the wallet already notified me to adjust the fees automatically and my priority was set to medium. So it deducted a normal fee of 0.0002 btc which is I think normal for most transaction.

Heck even now the unconfirmed transaction has reached over 35K! Huh

Guys please do not suggest here for a blocksize increase because that is a useless suggestion for now.

There's nothing you can do now, just wait, like every other 34k transactions. Needless to say someone is spamming the network and trying to "hur dur, see? We need more blocksize" while this was already been made. Two times.

Thats one more proof that we urgently need to increase the blockzise.
Block are already full and ths kind of dealys are getting to be more common. This is bad because it causes a lot of issues between buyers and sellers.
It can even mine the trust in bitcoin on businesses as shops who are already accepting bitcon.

Yep, I've encountered this delays occasionally which sometimes pisses me of cos i do not like waiting for hours to get it credited.

Well said it gives proof for the need of increased block size. But once block size gets increased also we'll feel something needs to be changed, because once blocksize gets increased surely some one will have control over further mining.

Well the fee is actually low and in a normal day it should give the same error of (Medium Priority) as it has given now. You've included around 12 Satoshi only, per byte which for fast confirmations (specially for large amounts of the same amount as yours) you should go with around 60 Satoshi per byte instead. The difference is 0.000996 - 0.0002 = 0.000796 BTC as a fee and that's making it even delay further more, after all the recent unconfirmed transactions that has piled up and the sad thing is, I've seen many who sent again with a little higher fee but again less than required and that has made the whole situation even worst.

The fee is reasonable at 200 bits. Stress test happens very often... I think blocksize increase will help but will not eliminate this totally.

it is Feb 29, you got this day once every 4 years. Someone out there must be doing something to make their point.
In person, I think increase block size will be able to solve this.

The miner preference says low... Which means you have paid fees that are too low. It's not that if you pay double the fees every time, you're guaranteed to have a high priority. It all depends on the size of the transaction, and in this case the size is pretty big.

Suggested fee is 10,000 satoshi per kb, he paid 20,000 for 1.600 kb. It should be fine. The only thing I can immagine is that the transaction is made up of 7 smaller transactions and that is unpreffered by the miners (but this is also the reason for the greater size, hence the higher fees).

0.0005 is way to much for a transaction like this. I've never had issues with transactions going through, no matter if I used the suggested fees. Even incoming transactions from exchanges, using less than 10,000 satoshi (exactly the suggested amount of satoshi for the size of the transaction in the ratio of 10k satoshi per kb), went through fine.

I would hold of on transactions for the moment until things settle a bit unless you absolutely have to.
