I would like to see those statistics as well. Also, I would like there to be a info box that shows total users online,

Already there.

total users that's been idle for more than "x" amount of minutes.

Why is that needed?

Some sort of a graph that would show the general statistics of user registration per day and logins.

There was an analytical data about these.

ANN: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/forum-stats-25484
DOC: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Arbegqx_2nKadF9wa21Db1Z1S3hhNzF1QVBCX1p1U3c

The data were from years that have passed. It would be better if someone could do a similar analysis from where this spreadsheet ended.

I'm wondering. How many individual members are there that have:
- Posted at least once in the past week
- Logged in at least once in the past week

- Posted at least once in the past month
- Logged in at least once in the past month

Do not include newbies/brand new users.

Would be nice to see some stats regarding the above. Around 250 new members register each day, most being bots that disappear after they are created.

There is a page wherein you can track the number of active users in this forum but I need to sift through my post history before I can post it in here. Also, the all-time stats of the forum can be seen in there, but until now I can't figure it out why are there no stats for the column "Most Online" from May 2013 up to this month.

Anyway, I hope I helped you in this one marco, though I'm not fairly sure whether this page satisfies what you need to see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats

I think a more accurate picture about the number of individual members here could be found into the ad slots stat page. Ad slots stats have unique logged-in users field; that, as I understand, could help approximate the number of active members (on a roughly bi-weekly base). So, a 16104+ strong userbase (active) could a good guess.

wow..
i read about Alexa!!!
it is a subsidiary company of Amazon.com!!!
it have a free trial on the home page...

if i find free time,
i give it a try.

Alexa also ranks websites by traffic on a global scale. They also measure whether a certain site really gets x amount of traffic and offers a service wherein they'll help you improve your site for audiences to view.

I think it can be very useful
in the event of a sale of a site, for a correct evaluation.

i think it is a great resource...

but for the fundamental parameter "Monthly Unique Visitor Metrics" the ask 149$/Month
ok for enterprice business,
very expensive for use "at home".

As I can see from the stats. There are about 3000-4000 members active throughout the day, so I think about 5000 people are active on the forum.

dothebeats good job finding this link! Smiley

Actually, I'm not the one who found out this page exists, it is only posted by thebitcoinquiz.com from a thread in which a user asks for the stats of the forum (global). And also, if you look thoroughly in that page, you can see that the average number of online users per day is only 305, which I think is too low for a forum that has 490459 registered users.

They create new users and put a link in profile. Advertising and probably increasing Alexa rank as this may work as backlinks.(?)

hi Muhammed..
can you elaborate it?

This is not an accurate way of measuring who is active and who is not a few members just read without posting much

This thread is basically me asking theymos for stats.

sure!!
i think theymos it is one who can give you the right stats...
he can query bitcointalk database..
just type the right select and you can extract all the data avoiding to scann and parse,
hundreds of HTML pages...

I think there are ~ 25k active members here, but it is only a "supposition" because as marcotheminer said "Around 250 new members register each day, most being bots that disappear after they are created."  but they may be active one day (who knos?).

i don't understand
"but they may be active one day (who knos?)"

if you do not need users now,
why create it to activate then??
what could be the purpose???

I think it's very difficult to estimate how many genuine, different individual people actively use BTC because of the way it is set up and the rules by which it is administered.
When you have multiple accounts allowed, open farming and sale of accounts permitted, pay per post campaigns and obvious sock puppetry going on, how can you extrapolate anything reliable from the basic stats?
