Lol I've transferred so many transactions with one address. I couldn't give a crap about this 16MtvTUvqwwKwV87nayxPLHTJJZNGPa9qw  is my main address and I have one more for mining payouts.

I feel inadequate.

I have 1 address.

Here is an example:

So you have exactly 0.00018911 BTC.  Not a big deal right now but what if you had a larger sum and someone were able to crack through your username and found your real life address, showed up at your door, etc.

Can you see how it could become a real issue if you publish your entire cash net worth worldwide?

I got approx 10 address, even though I made transactions above 7 BTC

I see no point in using different address for every transaction. 50+ address is over safety.
I have 1 address.
I have just one address but I have just entered in the crypto currencies.
I have 6-8 Bitcoin addresses.
I only have 3.
I have 3 Bitcoin addresses, I have one address for shopping online, one address for my savings and one address to get payments from signature campaign.
I think 3/4 Bitcoin addresses are sufficient, if you don't care about your privacy.

You may not care about your privacy or that anyone and everyone can know exactly how many BTC you have (your "bank account balance"), where you spend your BTC, what organizations you give to (that donation to wikileaks may come back to bite you in the ass someday), where you get your BTC, etc.

But do you care about the long term viability of the entire Bitcoin project/concept?

If you do please read my previous posts on this subject.  For example:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8418328

This thread:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/if-reusing-addresses-is-a-bad-idea-then-why-731384

Specifically:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8265615
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8265712
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8266003
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8266163

Everyone should be using a different Bitcoin address every single time they receive BTC including periodic payments such as mining income.  Everyone should be asking for a brand new address every time they send BTC to someone else.  If the site/vendor/organization wants your BTC then giving you a unique address every time you send them BTC is not too much to ask.  This is just the baseline good Bitcoin citizen behaviour.  If you really want to go above this baseline "good manners" and help correct the issues caused by those with lax privacy standards then mix your coins whenevery you get the chance.

If you are not doing this then please consider cleaning up your act for the good of the Bitcoin system.  If the wallet you are using does not support this then get another wallet.

Literally thousands..... Too much to count them between all my wallets.

That's crazy.  I only have 3.  How do you keep track of them all?  or are some empty and you'll never use them again?

Why do you need to keep track of them? Your wallet keeps track of them.

Looking at the poll results, it appears most people are doing the right thing and creating fresh addresses for their transactions.

I predict we will see more coins coming out like CLAMS where you most likely have already been sent some, you just need to scan your Bitcoin wallet.

There are lot of bitcoin address may be thousand, but you should have to ask like "how many active/used bitcoin address you have?"
some people are used different addresses for their specific purposes like 50-100  same as me but not all of it are actively used.

Thanks for the very informative post.

Trezor looks great, but it would not be practical to carry a giant device around, and it doesn't seem to support the smartphone anyway. Which still means partitioning funds into a smaller mobile wallet.

Would be great to hear your thoughts on the other wallets, when you have the time.
You are welcome.  Giant?  That is not how I would describe them.  Anyway, they will be supported on Android fairly soon.
