Only paid bought about 0.6 worth, and have been able to accumulate 0.9 or so for free! Not too shabby.

I suspect this is a common theme. Virtually all BTC securities lost half their value or more over the last 6-8 months with exchanges closing, various scams, increased focus on legal and regulatory issues, etc.
